There has been a relentless ever increasing demand on communication systems for enhancing data rates. Glass Optical Fiber (GOF) has established itself as the long haul backbone of communication systems and Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) is a strong contender for the - short haul - last mile part. Like Glass Optical Fiber (GOF), Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) is immune to electromagnetic interference but its high attenuation and multimodal dispersion restrict its bandwidth and reach severely. In recent paper [1] it has been established that an autocorrelation and crosscorrelation based Wiener filter can a more effective equalizer and the signal can be equalized using only FFE (Feed Forward Equalizer) with fewer taps. Another aspect that impacts the effectiveness of an equalizer is the source (LED) non-linearity in the SI-POF link. In this paper it is further sought to establish that the same Wiener filter equalizer can take care of the source (LED) non-linearity as well. The theoretical modeling of non-linearity of the source is presented and it is shown that the Wiener filter can effectively equalize the channel passed signal - even after the introduction of LED non-linearity in the channel link model. With source non-linearity also having been addressed by the same Wiener filter POF is poised as the apt channel for FTTH and fast ethernet. In fact, in a recent paper it is suggested that PoF (power over Fiber) can also be transmitted using POF - thereby obviating separate power source at the receiver end [2]. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper brings the novel implementation of a water cycle algorithm (WCA) optimized traditional PID regulator for automatic voltage regulation based on the performance criterion of integral square error (ISE). ISE criterion was selected to minimize the parameters of terminal voltage in aspects of peak overshoot, steady-state error and settling time. To compare the sovereignty of WCA, PID is rendered with the hybrid artificial field approach (HAEFA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) techniques listed in the literature. Communication time delays (CTDs) are considered with AVR to bring out its impact on performance upon comparing with the case of omitting CTDs. Further, the proposed WCA optimized PID regulator performance subjected to ISE is compared with other classical controllers fine-tuned with recent soft computing algorithms that are reported in the literature. Finally, the proposed regulator is declared as the best in damping out the oscillations in AVR terminal voltage in quick time. © 2022 IEEE.

Fog computing is a key solution for internet of things (IoT) applications, which demands operational security, real-time and power efficient intelligent responses, and low bandwidth usage. This paper introduces a novel idea related to an hardware implementation of High-performance classifiers for real-time and low power sensor data analytic on the intelligent edge gateway running on smart automobile. The high-performance classifiers uses an artificial neural network (ANN) to extract conclusive inferences from the raw automotive sensors information. The multiple classifiers are embedded into a re-configurable ANN hardware deign i.e. intellectual property core (IP core) which implemented and tested using field-programmable gate array fabric. In addition, this work studies the effect of the IP cores on the performance of the edge gateway. The implementation of fog/edge computing enables throughput reduction of 96.78% to 98.75% compared with the traditional gateway. The hardware design of the high-performance classifiers IP core requires only 31μ s and power consumption of 124mW for classification. The concept of re-configurable ANN model reduce about 41% to 93% of hardware resources requirement that contributing to reduced system power and cost. © 2022 IEEE.

The world is evolving in a pace faster than ever, in terms of the ways in which human can interact with the rest of the world virtually or physically. Our exploration together with Carl along the road involves many models and methods that help better understand users' needs, desires and intentions, specify clearer system requirements and know-how, describe simpler service interface to find a match between requests and capabilities. There are implicit relations between these research topics, namely, building smarter software systems that can adapt to the needs and intentions of users, as well as the concrete operational context and environment. This paper may look retrofuturism in a sense, as we are looking forward to fulfillment the early AI and SE visions, by reviewing viable fundamental software requirements engineering principles and service system thinking methods, and at the same time by making sense of the on-going development of smart applications with the latest intelligent computing technologies.

Due to adaption of power electronic components some extent of noise is generated, technically treated as Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), as system capacity increases the EMI content also improved proportionately. Therefore, in order to mitigate the EMI effect the low pass filter based EMI filter is introduced in the system such that the noise level is suppressed. Bidirectional Charging System (BCS) is one of the emerging technologies in EV to obtain autonomous power supply system in the form of Vehicle to Grid (V2G), Grid to Vehicle (G2V), and Vehicle to Load (V2L). To know the behavior of BCS the proposed Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) controller is employed and is compared with ANN bidirectional charging model. BCS charging system with RNN controller has better dynamic response to exchange the power via DC/DC converter and AC/DC converter as compared to ANN controller. © 2022 IEEE.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of expedients that can intuiting, collecting, managing and communicating data over the Internet without human intervention. It is a concept that connects to nearby objects without user intervention, using a wired or wireless network.
