With the rise of distributed Energy Resources (DER), the grid-forming inverter (GFMI) has become a key focus area in modern power systems. This paper presents a comparative performance analysis of two GFMIs controlled_by similar and different controls (Droop and Virtual Synchronous Generator (VSG) control) integrated with D-stATCOM based on settling time, stability with the effect of PI gains of D-stATCOM's controller. This study finds that Droop controlled GFMIs settle faster than Droop-VSG and VSG controlled GFMIs. However, Droop-VSG provides the least peak overshoots to D-stATCOM. The increased PI gain values of a controller of D-stATCOM provide faster stability of the system. The analysis is conducted using MATLAB/Simulink.

Myocardial pathology segmentation (MyoPS) is essential for the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of myocardial infarction (MI). Recent deep learning MyoPS models have shown promising performance on independent identically distributed data. However, due to the domain shift caused by multi-center data, many methods often fail to generalize to unseen data. In this work, we propose a novel domain generalization framework (SMCANet) for MyoPS, which leverages data statistics (mean and standard deviation) modeling (DSM) and feature covariance alignment (FCA) during training to learn domain-invariant information. Specifically, DSM first models the statistical information of the data images and then performs perturbation-based random sampling to enhance the diversity of data representations. FCA reduces feature discrepancies across different distributions while preserving domain content information through the use of covariance matching loss (CML) and cross-covariance loss (CCL). Experiments on cross-domain MyoPS datasets from CARE2024 MyoPS++ challenge demonstrate that our framework can achieve promising generalization performance without altering the network architecture or employing complex data augmentation networks. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Domain name management and DNS operation are critical as the basics of Internet operation. Developing a long-term investment plan is essential for stable and sustainable domain name management. Since revenues rely on the number of registered domain names, future registration estimation is a crucial managerial task. This study aims to develop a model that predicts 1st-year registration renewal of individual domain names, focusing on the General-use JP domain names (accounting for approx. 70% of all JP domain registrations). Using decision trees and their advanced machine learning algorithms, the model incrementally adds and verifies features, achieving an accuracy of 80.6%. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

The integration of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) into the grid for reliable and stable operation is witnessing significant growth. Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems are key contributors to enhancing the grid's RES capacity. The Solar PV installed capacity improved by 30 % in 2023. Challenges arise in partially shaded conditions, where some parts of the solar PV array may be obstructed, leading to suboptimal performance of the entire array. Achieving optimal performance in the connected solar PV arrays is essential, typically accomplished by configuring arrays in parallel and/or series to operate at the Maximum Power Point (MPP). This paper explores the application of various metaheuristic methods, including Particle Swarm Optimization, Bald Eagle Search, Manta Ray Foraging Optimization, and Gorilla Troop Optimizer. The study considers complete cloud movement across a 9X9 solar PV array. The movement of the clouds is categorized into 9 different stages of partial shading. The switching of the solar panels is employed to maximize output power under shaded conditions. The results are categorized into dynamic and static reconfiguration. MATLAB is employed for the implementation of these metaheuristic techniques. © 2025 IEEE.

Microinverters are typically integrated with individual solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to enhance system performance. This paper presents the design and evaluation of an interleaved flyback DC-DC converter for microinverters in a methodical approach. The flyback converter is selected for its advantages, including a reduced component count and a simplified architecture. Additionally, it provides electrical isolation, meeting grid code requirements, and offers high voltage gain, making it suitable for a wide range of input voltages. The time-interleaved operation of the DC-DC flyback stage, utilizing multiple parallel switching phases, effectively reduces ripple current, minimizes component stress, and improves power density. An active clamp circuit is incorporated to recover leakage energy. The operational principles, including all modes of operation, are thoroughly explained. The complete design is presented with relevant mathematical formulations and validated through software simulations. © 2025 IEEE.

Photovoltaic (PV) based distributed generation (DG) helps meeting continuously increasing power demand. Effective control of PV-based DG becomes crucial for its integration into the power network. This paper presents a Modified Leaky Least Mean Square (MLLMS) algorithm based control scheme for SSGPV and DSGPV three-phase grid-tied PV system. The DSGPV system consists of a PV array, a dc-dc boost converter controlled using Incremental Conductance (InC) technique for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) operation and three-phase DG for dc to ac conversion, which is integrated with the utility grid. In a SSGPV system, DG is controlled for MPPT operation as well as power exchange with the grid and load. The presented grid-tied DG employs MLLMS based control scheme to generate the reference grid currents. Simulation analysis of the given SSGPV and DSGPV DG performance is carried out using MATLAB. The PV based DG effectively exchanges power with the grid as well as feeds to the load. It balances grid currents even in case of unbalanced load condition. The transient response of the DG is analysed for irradiation change and load unbalanced condition. Simulation results depict satisfactory steady-state as well as transient response of grid-tied PV based DG.

In response to the intermittent power generated by the Wind Energy System (WES) and the Battery Energy storage Systems (BESS) acting as a supplementary source in parallel with WES, the work proposes to determine the optimal size of BESS in kWh. The study uses wind speed data from the WES in Gujarat, India, to determine the forecasting errors. A realistic energy cycle generation targeting forecasting errors is developed using the Normal Distribution Curve. The optimum size in kWh of BESS for supplying the deficit forecasting power is determined, and it is found that the size is not enough to recover the investment cost even in a lifetime by selling the discharged power from the BESS at the Day Ahead Market (DAM) prices of Indian Energy Exchange at each time block. The study then investigates the profitable option through BESS by feeding power to the grid more than the forecasting error at favorable DAM prices and determine the kWh size of the BESS. An iterative technique is proposed for the maximum profitable discharged power. In the investigation process, an upgrade technique is also proposed to upgrade the initial size of the BESS in case of state of Charge (SoC) limit violations. The results are compared with the Genetic Algorithms (GAs) to justify the effectiveness of the proposed technique. © 2025 IEEE.

Maintaining frequency stability across multiple micro-grid clusters presents a significant challenge. This study introduces a benchmark dynamic model of an isolated microgrid cluster interconnected via tie lines, incorporating various types of distributed energy resources. This paper investigates a multitude of energy storage systems to primarily maintain the balance between supply and demand of power and also to maintain the target grid frequency at the scheduled value. The relatively low inertia characteristic of hybrid power systems results in substantial frequency fluctuations in response to minor load changes within microgrid clusters. This phenomenon underscores the critical need for robust and efficient and grid forming converter technologies, which are discussed in this paper. The developed model is employed to analyze the frequency behavior of networked microgrids highlighting the role that power electronics converter technologies can offer in microgrids. The effectiveness of the study is demonstrated using time domain simulations performed in Matlab $\textregistered$ environment, revealing improvements in frequency and tie-power deviations with more than 60 % overshoot reduction, substantiating overall system performance.

Accurate wind power forecasting is essential for the effective integration of wind energy into power grids. Yet, the inherent variability of wind and the intricate interplay of meteorological factors make prediction a challenging task. This study introduces a novel short-term wind power forecasting method, improving the traditional convolutional neural network and long short-term memory (CNN-LstM) model through two significant innovations. First, we introduce a parallel convolutional architecture that employs both 1dimensional (1D) and 2-dimensional (2D) convolutions to simultaneously capture temporal patterns and inter-variable relationships in wind power data. This structure, inspired by Explainable-CNNs, enables more comprehensive feature extraction. Second, we integrate an attention mechanism that dynamically weights the importance of different input features and time steps, improving both forecast accuracy and model interpretability. The proposed model is evaluated using data from two wind farms in Croatia, comparing its performance against benchmark models including standard CNN-LstM, LstM, and gated recurrent unit (GRU) networks. Results demonstrate that our enhanced CNN-LstM model achieves superior forecasting accuracy, with improvements in Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 15% and 12% respectively, compared to the best-performing benchmark. Furthermore, the attention mechanism provides valuable insights into the relative importance of different features over time, offering a new level of interpretability in wind power forecasting models. This work contributes to the advancement of accurate and explainable wind power prediction, supporting more efficient renewable energy integration and grid management. © 2025 IEEE.
