Enhanced linear reformulation for engineering optimization models with discrete and bounded continuous variables

In this paper, we significantly extend the applicability of state-of-the-art ELDP (equations for linearizing discrete product terms) method by providing a new linearization to handle more complicated non-linear terms involving both of discrete and bounded continuous variables. A general class of "representable programming problems" is formally proposed for a much wider range of engineering applications. Moreover, by exploiting the logarithmic feature embedded in the discrete structure, we present an enhanced linear reformulation model which requires half an order fewer equations than the original ELDP. Computational experiments on various engineering design problems support the superior computational efficiency of the proposed linearization reformulation in solving engineering optimization problems with discrete and bounded continuous variables. The quality assessment of ultrasound images is essential for prenatal diagnosis, in which detection of anatomical structures is the first and most important step in quality assessment. In clinical practice, it is usually done manually, which is experience-dependent, labor-extensive and time-consuming, as well as suffering from high inter- and intra-observer variability. In this paper, we propose a novel real-time detection model, named aggregated residual visual block network (ARVBNet), to accomplish automatic detection of anatomical structures in cardiac four-chamber plane (CFP) of fetal ultrasound images. Experiments on 1991 fetal ultrasound CFPs demonstrate the proposed network achieves state-of-the-art performance of 93.52% mean average precision (mAP) and a test speed of 101 frame-per-second (FPs). In addition, an extended experiment on the Pascal VOC dataset achieves state-of-the-art performance of 81.2% mAP as well, demonstrating the adaptability and generality of our proposed model. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

A dynamic average value-at-risk portfolio model under uncertainty is discussed. At each period analytical solutions for the problem are obtained. By dynamic programming, an optimality equation for optimal average value-at-risks is derived. It is shown that the optimal average value-at-risk portfolios are solutions of the optimality equation.

Honey Guava Fruit (Green Guava Deli) is one of the fruit that are very popular, liked, and consumed by the people. The pProblems that cause a decline in the quality of guava due to honey guava plants can also be attacked by disease. The limited access information about honey guava disease is one of the obstacles, while the number of agricultural experts is still insufficient. In this study a media system will built with an expert system approach. The application development phase begins with the system analysis stage, namely data analysis and system requirements description, building a knowledge base, Data Flow Diagram, Entity Relationship Diagram, and creating a table structure, table design, and interface menu design. After the design phase is complete, it is continued to the implementation and testing phase of the application. This application uses Visual basic. Net as a programming language and Sql Server as a database. The research was conducted to make Honey Guava Disease Diagnosis System Expert System software that can work like an agricultural expert. The system is able to diagnose as many as 3 diseases using the Bayes Theorem method. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The fundamental objective of this paper is to describe the applications of Microsoft Kinect sensor with robust algorithm and solution to present 3-D surface reconstruction mapping with different measurements. In the line of Sensor operations, there could be two possible categories into 3-D reconstructions such as exorbitant laser scanner and other is by taking photos from various angles. In this paper, we have used indoor environmental scenes by depth sensor camera Microsoft Kinect. Data Pre-operations, sensor posture evaluations, computational fusion of the depth sensor data and 3-D surface extractions are the four major part of this experiment. The algorithm of this paper has been built uniquely with C# programming.

Biometrics deals with perceiving a man or confirming the authentication of physiological or behavioral attributes. To ensure the genuine nearness of a component in contrast to a fake self-made simulated or reproduced trial is a noteworthy issue in biometric confirmation, which require the advancement of novel and proficient security measures. So that we requires an automatic efficient model which can cut out the irregularities and fake access endeavors before matching and decision making. In this paper, here a novel programming-based fake discovery strategy is utilized as a part of retinal check to distinguish distinctive sorts of. The motivation behind the proposed framework is to enhance the security of biometric acknowledgment systems. In this proposed novel cross-breed, adaptive weighted neighbor (AWN) classifier is the procedure to order the information retinal picture relies upon the highlights extraction and coordinating the highlights with the prepared highlights. Initially, the captured image is pre-processed by middle separating procedure and Gaussian filter. What is more, upgrade algorithm used for achieving the complexity of vasculature particularly in the thin vessels and stumpy vasculature differentiate vessels. The proposed model can be utilized as an underlying procedure in numerous security fundamental applications. This paper likewise proposes the algorithm for discovering the bifurcation point in the veins. It enables high security, good performance, and greater accuracy. Knowledge graphs are often generated using rules that apply semantic annotations to data sources. Software tools then execute these rules and generate or virtualize the corresponding RDF-based knowledge graph. RML is an extension of the W3C-recommended R2RML language, extending support from relational databases to other data sources, such as data in CSV, XML, and JSON format. As part of the R2RML standardization process, a set of test cases was created to assess tool conformance the specification. In this work, we generated an initial set of reusable test cases to assess RML conformance. These test cases are based on R2RML test cases and can be used by any tool, regardless of the programming language. We tested the conformance of two RML processors: the RMLMapper and CARML. The results show that the RMLMapper passes all CSV, XML, and JSON test cases, and most test cases for relational databases. CARML passes most CSV, XML, and JSON test cases regarding. Developers can determine the degree of conformance of their tools, and users determine based on conformance results to determine the most suitable tool for their use cases. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Air pollution is one of the influential factors that can affect the quality of every living being in the environment. Monitoring the air pollution is a scathing issue. In this work, air pollutant prediction is done using Machine learning techniques. K Means algorithm is used for clustering and different classifiers such as Multinominal Logistic Regression and Decision Tree algorithms are used to analyze the results based on available data in the R programming language. The results obtained using classifiers are compared based on error rate and accuracy. The multinominal logistic regression model has given high accuracy compared to decision tree model.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a serious mental illness that affects the overall quality of patients’ daily life. Since sparse learning can remove redundant information in resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) data via the brain functional connectivity network (BFCN) and retain good biological characteristics, it is an important method for OCD analysis. However, most existing methods ignore the relationship among subjects. To solve this problem, we propose a smoothing sparse network (SSN) to construct BFCN. Specifically, we add a smoothing term in the model to constrain the relationship and increase the similarity among the subjects. As a kind of deep learning method, the stacked sparse auto-encoder (SSAE) can learn the high level internal features from data and reduce its dimension. For this reason, we design an improved SSAE to learn the high level features of BFCN and reduce the data dimension. We add a 2-norm to prevent overfitting as well. We apply this framework on OCD dataset self-collected from local hospitals. The experimental results show that our method can achieve quite promising performance and outperform the state-of-the-art methods. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
