With the increase in complexity and innovation in IT products and services, developing them, that to by the shared efforts of team members brings in the need of some standardized development model or approach. Due to several advantages of agile methodologies over the traditional waterfall based models, it is the preferred choice. Many a times, a single agile method is also not enough to meet the current scenario of product development. We therefore propose a Competitor Driven Development (CDD) model, a hybrid agile process model for IT product development by abstracting practices from Extreme programming (XP) and Feature Driven Reuse Development (FDRD) agile methods. This model is based on self-realizing requirements generation for Product development by keeping an eye watch on competitor's upcoming launch of the product and market response to it rather than customer explicitly specifying the requirements. This development model can be generally used by the organizations who intend to develop IT product for mass targeted customers rather than an individual or an organization.

With the help of MapReduce powerful parallel computing ability and good extensibility, we try to solve the bottleneck problem of traditional BP neural network in dealing with the big data for the training sets in this paper. Through the experimental data for the farmland fertilizer effect, we propose that fertilizer rate is taken as input for the neural network, and ultimately yield is taken as the output, then building the precise fertilization model. By solving the nonlinear programming problem, the model can get the maximum yield and the optimum fertilizer rate at the same time, and can solve the estimating crop yield problem. In terms of predicting accuracy, the fertilization model result basing on the big data training sets is much better than the small data sets result obviously, and our proposed model can effectively guide the precise fertilization. © 2016 IEEE.

As a fundamental problem in computer vision, graph matching problem can usually be formulated as a Quadratic programming (QP) problem with doubly stochastic and discrete (integer) constraints. Since it is NP-hard, approximate algorithms are required. In this paper, we present a new algorithm, called Multiplicative Update Graph Matching (MPGM), that develops a multiplicative update technique to solve the QP matching problem. MPGM has three main benefits: (1) theoretically, MPGM solves the general QP problem with doubly stochastic constraint naturally whose convergence and KKT optimality are guaranteed. (2) Empirically, MPGM generally returns a sparse solution and thus can also incorporate the discrete constraint approximately. (3) It is efficient and simple to implement. Experimental results show the benefits of MPGM algorithm.

A problem of packing a limited number of unequal circular objects in a fixed size rectangular container is considered. The circular object is considered in a general sense, as a set of points that are all the same distance (not necessary Euclidean) from a center. The aim is to maximize the (weighted) number of objects placed into the container or minimize the waste. This problem has numerous applications in logistics, including production and packing for the textile, apparel, naval, automobile, aerospace and food industries. Frequently the problem is formulated as a nonconvex continuous optimization problem which is solved by heuristic techniques combined with local search procedures. We study a linear integer programming formulation based on approximating container by a regular grid. The nodes of the grid are considered as potential positions for assigning centers of the objects thus giving rise to a large scale linear 0-1 optimization problem with binary variables representing the assignment of centers to the nodes of the grid. Recursive packing allowing nesting circles inside one another is also considered. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed approach.

This paper concerns the line spectral estimation problem within the recent super-resolution framework. The frequencies of interest are assumed to follow a prior probability distribution. To effectively and efficiently exploit the prior information, we devise a weighted atomic norm approach that is physically sound and can be formulated as convex programming like the standard atomic norm method. Numerical simulations are provided to demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed approach in accuracy and speed compared to the state-of-the-art. © 2016 IEEE.

Since the beginning of the twenty-first century, healthcare cost has increased exponentially which has burdened the common man across the world. India being the country of having high youth concentration, needs a cost-effective quality healthcare delivery system to generate the healthy workforce. Here, comes the role of wearable device which provides users the flexibility to know about their health irrespective of their location. Though it is one of the means to access body vitals, it does not analyze them. Therefore, it is necessary to discover a solution for the world's burgeoning population to analyze the physiological parameters viz. heart rate, respiratory activity, blood pressure etc. captured from wearable devices and provide customized healthcare recommendations. This paper attempts to develop an android application which takes the heart rate data of the users as an input using wearable device application programming interface (API). Eventually the application predicts cardiac problems on the basis of the recorded heart rate data and thereby recommends precautionary/ curative measures in the form of diet prescription, physical activity among others. In this way the state-of-the-art application enables its users to access the cost-effective quality home-based health care which will make them more prosperous and productive at their workplaces in the long run. © 2016 IEEE.

Hence the goal of this paper is to present a system to establish effective communication between listener and the speaker. During the utilization of Radio Frequency microphones for communication, an intermediation is required to pass the microphone from one individual to another. This is dull in the event of different inquiries arises at a same time. To stay away from this issue we present the idea where an android cellular phone goes about as receiver. Wi-Fi MIC application needs to be installed in the android phone The application installed on client android phone will act as wireless microphone, thus reducing external hardware devices. The speaker delivering lecture will be server to which all the clients' android phone will be connected through Wi-Fi. This server handles all the clients, giving priority to clients when multiple queries are being raised. Therefore live audio streaming will be carried out in this system. © 2016 IEEE.

Gradient Descent (GD) is one of famous machine-learning methods used for prediction on regression tasks in many fields. However, only a few software library utilizing it can be found in the literature. Therefore, this research is aimed to implement the method and the following variants: Mini-Batch Gradient Descent (MBGD), stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD), and stochastic Average Gradient Descent (SAG). The package is written in the programming language R, which is a software environment offering many facilities for statistics and machine-learning tools. Moreover, we provide the use of these approaches in a case study of gas industries, which is to predict values of the compressibility factor (Z-factor) of CO 2 . Basically, we consider the problem as a regression task including pressure and temperature as the input attributes. The first step is generating a learning model from available training data by using the methods. Then, the model is used to predict the Z-factor over new data. A performance comparison between the package and other methods from the literature is presented as well.

Detecting lock-related defects has long been a hot research topic in software engineering. Many efforts have been spent on detecting such deadlocks in concurrent software systems. However, latent locks may be hidden in application programming interface (API) methods whose source code may not be accessible to developers. Many APIs have latent locks. For example, our study has shown that J2SE alone can have 2,000+ latent locks. As latent locks are less known by developers, they can cause deadlocks that are hard to perceive or diagnose. Meanwhile, the state-of-the-art tools mostly handle API methods as black boxes, and cannot detect deadlocks that involve such latent locks. In this paper, we propose a novel black-box testing approach, called LockPeeker, that reveals latent locks in Java APIs. The essential idea of LockPeeker is that latent locks of a given API method can be revealed by testing the method and summarizing the locking effects during testing execution. We have evaluated LockPeeker on ten real-world Java projects. Our evaluation results show that (1) LockPeeker detects 74.9% of latent locks in API methods, and (2) it enables state-of-the-art tools to detect deadlocks that otherwise cannot be detected.

Cumulative vehicle routing problems are a simplified model of fuel consumption in vehicle routing problems. Here we study computationally, an approach for constructing approximate solutions to cumulative vehicle routing problems based on rounding solutions to a linear program. The linear program is based on the set cover formulation, and is solved using column generation. The pricing sub-problem is solved using dynamic programming. Simulation results show that the simple scalable strategy computes solutions with cost close to the lower bound given by the linear programming relaxation.
