This report summarizes the outcomes of the 9th Workshop on Aspect-Oriented Modeling (AOM) held in conjunction with the 9th internationalconference on Model Driven engineering Languages and Systems - MoDELS 2006 - in Genoa, Italy, on the 1st of October 2006. The workshop brought together approximately 25 researchers and practitioners from two communities: aspect-oriented software development and software model engineering. It provided a forum for discussing the state of the art in modeling crosscutting concerns at different stages of the software development process: requirements elicitation and analysis, software architecture, detailed design, and mapping to aspect-oriented programming constructs. This paper gives an overview of the accepted submissions and summarizes the results of the different discussion groups. Papers and presentation slides of the workshop are available at http://***/.

In answer set programming (ASP), a search problem is solved by describing its solutions in the input language of an answer set solver which is then used to compute solutions to the problem. Usually, the problem is converted to an intermediate representation before the actual computation of solutions starts. The current ASP systems employ a number of simplified languages (file formats or like) for this purpose. In this paper, we review a number of intermediate languages and analyse their properties. The goal is to identify best features of such languages to be used as the basis of new designs and thus pave the way for the standardisation of intermediate languages in ASP.

Today, IT organizations have encountered growing challenges in the management and maintenance of large scale heterogeneous distributed computing systems because these systems have to be active and available at all hours. Therefore, it is difficult for administrators to manage such systems and handle changes occured at all hours. Moreover current programming languages, methods, and management tools are inadequate to handle complexity, heterogeneity, scale, dynamism, and uncertainty as the most important challenges in such systems. This paper describes a new solution method applied to the problem initializing DAEs using the Modelica language. Modelica is primarily an object- oriented equ-tion-based modeling language that allows specification of mathematical models of complex natural or man-made systems. Major features of Modelica are the multidomain modeling capability and the reusability of model components corresponding to physical objects, which allow to build and simulate highly complex systems. However, initializing such models has been quite cumbersome, since initial equations have to be pro-vided at the system level, where the user needs to know details on the underlying transformation and index-reduction algorithms, that in general are applied to simulate a Modelica model.

In wind energy, an incentive payment related to the reactive power compensation is applied. In the past, the maximum incentive was achieved when the cos phi, that was calculated as a monthly mean, was almost unitary (cos phi = 1.00). The payment is a percentage of the average reference tariff (art). Since the 1st of January 2007, the Spanish regulation RD 436 /2004 has modified the incentive payment. Nowadays, it is calculated each 15 minutes from the energy during this period, and its maximum value depends on the achievement of a objective power factor (cos phi) which is defined in three time frames: peak hours (cos phi < 0,95 cap.), valley hours (cos phi < 0.95 ind.) and flat hours (cos phi = 1.00). To maximize the incentive payment, in the Sotavento Experimental Wind Park (Spain) a configuration with a central controller that coordinates the actuation over all the capacitor steps in the wind park has been installed. In this article, a central controller algorithm which is based on a dynamic programming is proposed. Its main objectives are: to maximize the incentive payment, or achieve the equivalent objective PF, and to minimize the number of connection operations over the capacitor steps (especially those in substation). At the present time, the algorithm is being tested in the wind park.
