With the rapid development of Higher Vocational Education in China, a series of problems need to be solved, especially the performance appraisal of teachers. At present, the scientific research assessment system of teachers in higher vocational colleges is not perfect, which restricts the development of higher vocational colleges to a certain extent. Establishing a scientific performance appraisal system is the key to improve the teaching quality and highlight the characteristics of higher vocational colleges. This is also the premise of the healthy development of higher vocational education, which has strong theoretical and practical significance for the sustainable development of higher vocational education. According to the working characteristics of teachers in higher vocational colleges, this paper establishes the performance evaluation index system of teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges from five aspects of teaching, scientific research, social service and discipline construction, and studies and grows through investigation and principal component analysis (PCA). On this basis, the use of network analytic hierarchy process (ANP) to determine the construction of Higher Vocational College Teachers’ performance evaluation model. © 2021, icst Institute for computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

Network coordinate systems have gained much attention as they allow for an elegant estimation of distances between nodes in distributed systems. Their most prominent representative is Vivaldi, which is using a mass-spring-damper system to embed peers into a two-dimensional Euclidean coordinate space with an additional height coordinate. In unimpaired overlay networks this simple method leads to a good approximation of pairwise delays. Unfortunately, like most distributed algorithms, Vivaldi is vulnerable to Byzantine failures, leading to possible routing attacks in peer-to-peer systems. Hence, several attack methods and countermeasures have been proposed. In this article, we analyze bounds for protection of Vivaldi network coordinates and show by theory and simulation how triangle inequality violations (TIVs) can be exploited to create instabilities, despite the proposed countermeasures.

To provide scalable capacity of wireless ad-hoc networks, we employ a joint approach of both Ultra-Wide-Band (UWB) radio and hybrid architecture (ad-hoc network with infrastructure support). By using the AP(access point)assisted percolation model, and utilizing sufficiently wide bandwidth under perlink power constraint, we find the asymptotic per-node throughput capacity of a UWB hybrid network in a unit disk area, as a function of the number of randomly distributed nodes, the number of randomly distributed AP, and the path loss exponent. This result shows an asymptotically significant factor of improvement in capacity by deploying AP, compared to the recent result for UWB pure ad-hoc network. An extension of the result in the more general D-dimensional space is also obtained.

One basic capability of interactive and mobile systems to cope with unknown situations and environments is active, sequence-based visual scene analysis. Image sequences provide static as well as dynamic and also 2D as well as 3D information about a certain scene. However, at the same time they require efficient mechanisms to handle their large data volumes. In this paper we introduce a new concept of a visual scene memory for interactive mobile systems that supports these systems with a space- and time-efficient data structure for representing iconic information. The memory is based on a new kind of mosaic images called multi-mosaics and allows to efficiently store and process sequences of stationary rotating and zooming cameras. Its main key features are polytopial reference coordinate frames and an online data processing strategy. The polytopes provide euclidean coordinates and thus allow the application of standard image analysis algorithms directly to the data yielding easy access and analysis, while online data processing preserves system interactivity. Additionally, mechanisms are included to properly handle multi-resolution data and to deal with dynamic scenes. The concept has been implemented in terms of an integrated system that can easily be included as an additional module in the architecture of interactive and mobile systems. As one prototypical example for possible fields of application the integration of the memory into the architecture of an interactive multi-modal robot is discussed emphasizing the practical relevancy of the new concept.

The poor assimilation of ICT in formal education is firmly rooted in models of learning prevalent in the classroom which are largely teacher-led, individualistic and reproductive, with little connection between theory and practice and poor linkages across the curriculum. A new model of classroom practice is required to allow for creativity, peer-learning, thematic learning, collaboration and problem solving, i.e. the skills commonly deemed necessary for the knowledge-based society of the 21st century. This paper describes the B2C model for group-based, technology-mediated, project-oriented learning which, while being developed as part of an out of school programme, offers a pragmatic alternative to traditional classroom pedagogy.

Context-free path queries (CFPQ) extend the regular path queries (RPQ) by allowing context-free grammars to be used as constraints for paths. algorithms for CFPQ are actively developed, but J. Kuijpers et al. have recently concluded, that existing algorithms are not performant enough to be used in real-world applications. Thus the development of new algorithms for CFPQ is justified. In this paper, we provide a new CFPQ algorithm which is based on such linear algebra operations as Kronecker product and transitive closure and handles grammars presented as recursive state machines. Thus, the proposed algorithm can be implemented by using high-performance libraries and modern parallel hardware. Moreover, it avoids grammar growth which provides the possibility for queries optimization.

In recent years, the automotive industry is equipping vehicles with sophisticated, and often, expensive systems for driving assistance. However, this vehicular technology is more focused on facilitating the driving and not in monitoring the driver. This paper presents a low-cost vehicle driver assistance system for monitoring the drivers activity that intends to prevent an accident. The system consists of 4 sensors that monitor physical parameters and driver position. From these values, the system generates a series of acoustic signals to alert the vehicle driver and avoiding an accident. Finally the system is tested to verify its proper operation.

Modularity is a widespread form of organization in complex systems, but its origins are poorly understood. Here, I discuss the causes and consequences of modularity in evolutionary systems. Almost all living organisms engage in sexual exchange of genes, and those that do so are organized into discrete modules we call species. Gene exchange occurs within, but not between, species. This genetic segregation allows organisms to adapt to different niches and environments, and thereby evolve complex and long-lasting ecosystems. The process that generates such modularity, speciation, is therefore the key to understanding the diversity of life. Speciation theory is a highly developed topic within population genetics and evolutionary theory. I discuss some lessons from recent progress in speciation theory for our understanding of diversification and modularity in complex systems more generally, including possible applications in genetic algorithms, artificial life and social engineering.

Cognitive Computing is a developing paradigm with its applications found in almost every field. It aims to develop computing methodologies and systems inspired by mind's capabilities. A thought is the most fundamental capability of the mind. Hence it is important in the cognitive computing to understand the Thought Process. The purpose of this paper is to develop a computer model that simulates the Thought Process. The paper proposes that the Genetic Algorithm (GA) can be used for the same. Both cognitive model and computer model of the thought process with the help of GA has been given. In the computer model, a modification of GA has been implemented, which consists of a new crossover operator called Learning Crossover operator. The new crossover operator is not a replacement but is a supplement to the existing crossover operators. The GA is implemented over the Travelling Salesperson Problem (TSP), which is a classical NP problem and hence the algorithm is possible to be implemented on any other problem. The modification to the GA aims to improve the Thought Process Simulation. But it can also improve the performance of GA, when further explored. © 2021 IEEE.
