In WCDMA networks, most economic-based resource management algorithms only assumed that network users were obedient, that is, users only accepted the price declared by network, which is called as price acceptation mechanism. Many research issues argued that it is necessary to accommodate, if possible, to use self-interest behaviours of users to strengthen the technical architecture of network engineering. Thus, this paper explicitly considered the selfishness of users, investigated the price anticipation mechanism in WCDMA networks, in which users acted as price anticipators. By price anticipator it meant users anticipated the effect of their behaviours on the network resource allocation, and adopted strategy correspondingly. From the view point of game theory, we investigated equilibrium properties of the price anticipation mechanism in WCDMA networks, and, through two scenarios, illustrated the relationship between price anticipation mechanism and price acceptation mechanism from the viewpoint of network revenue. Finally, we drew the conclusion that, the network revenue generated in price anticipation mechanism was less than revenue generated in price acceptation mechanism, (the difference between those two mechanisms is called as "price as anarchy"), and the network revenue generated in those two mechanisms tends to be consistent, when the effect of individual user is negligible.

The field of computing known as quantum computing is devoted to creating computer technology that is based on the ideas of quantum theory (which makes sense of the way of behaving of energy and material on the nuclear and subatomic levels). These supercomputers are based on two aspects of quantum physical science: superposition and entanglement. As a result, quantum PCs can handle tasks at speeds that are significantly faster than those of traditional PCs and with a lot less energy consumption. On the other hand, Quantum logic gates are designed to empower this computing field. Programmable Logic Array is a type of PLDs (programmable logic devices) and is mainly used for designing combination logic mutually by sequential logic. It could be a general-purpose logic gadget that’s programmable and a client can configure the gadget as a simple logic gate operation to complex systems on a chip. In this work, a PLA is designed using Quantum-based gates. When scheduling jobs for systems in the cloud, we often deal with jobs that arrive and depart in an online manner. Each job should be assigned to a server upon arrival. Jobs are annotated with sizes which define the amount of resources that they need. Servers have uniform capacity and, at all times, the total size of jobs assigned to a server should not exceed this capacity. This setting is closely related to the classic bin packing problem. The difference is that, in bin packing, the objective is to minimize the total number of used servers. In the cloud systems, however, the cost for each server is proportional to the length of the time interval it is rented for, and the goal is to minimize the cost involved in renting all used servers. Recently, certain bin packing strategies were considered for renting servers in the cloud [Li et al. SPAA' 14]. There, it is proved that all Any-Fit strategies have a competitive ratio of at least mu, where mu is the max/min interval length ratio of jobs. It is also proved that First Fit has a competitive ratio of 2 mu + 13, while Best Fit is not competitive at all. We observe that the lower bound of mu extends to all online algorithms. We also prove that, surprisingly, Next Fit algorithm has a competitive ratio of at most 2 mu + 1. We also show that a variant of Next Fit achieves a competitive ratio of K x max{1, mu/(K - 1)} + 1, where K is a parameter of the algorithm. In particular, if the value of mu is known, the algorithm has a competitive ratio of mu + 2;this improves upon the existing upper bound of mu + 8. Finally, we introduce a simple algorithm called Move To Front (MTF) which has a competitive ratio of at most 6 mu + 8. We experimentally study the average-case performance of different algorithms and observe that the typical behaviour of MTF is better than other algorithms.

Increasing amount of illegal videos transmitted via Internet has aroused the need to develop digital video forensic systems for deterring and prosecuting digital crimes. Thus in this paper, we propose a digital forensics service platform for online videos, with the goal of revealing illegal videos and preventing them from spreading over the Internet. Different from previous systems, it a) detects more types of digital crimes;b) processes an enormous amount of video data in real time;c) pays more attention to end-user experience. For capturing legal evidence, a special technique - video fingerprinting - is employed. We present a hybrid fingerprint and improve the related algorithms in important ways. To solve dynamic resource scheduling and load balancing problems, the platform is built upon Content Distribution Networks (CDNs). As far as we know, the proposed platform is the first large-scale digital forensics service platform for online videos. It has been deployed and used in practice for detecting thousands of videos under the real web environment. The results of performance evaluation using data obtained from these real-world deployments demonstrate the feasibility of the platform. Copyright 2009 ACM.

Constraints allow programmers and users to state declaratively a relation that should be maintained, rather than requiring them to write procedures to maintain the relation themselves. They are thus useful in such applications as programming languages, user interface toolkits, and simulation packages. In many situations, it is desirable to be able to state both required and preferential constraints. The required constraints must hold. Since the other constraints are merely preferences, the system should try to satisfy them if possible, but no error condition arises if it cannot. A constraint hierarchy consists of a set of constraints, each labeled as either required or preferred at some strength. An arbitrary number of different strengths is allowed. In the discussion of a theory of constraint hierarchies, we present alternate ways of selecting among competing possible solutions, and prove a number of propositions about the relations among these alternatives. We then outline algorithms for satisfying constraint hierarchies, and ways in which we have used constraint hierarchies in a number of programming languages and systems. © 1996, Springer Verlag.
