Many modern applications rely on Object-Oriented (OO) design principles, where the basic system components are objects and classes. They share objects with other processes, store them in disk/files for future retrieval or transport them over network to other systems. Object-oriented programs leverage numerous dynamic features and design principles such as runtime dispatching and object-oriented callbacks which allow flexible software design. Although seemingly innocuous, these features can be abused by the attackers to hijack the program's control flow to an undesirable behavior. This is referred to as Counterfeit Object-Oriented programming (COOP), in which attackers hijack objects in the program in order to create a sequence of method calls that introduce a malicious behavior. COOP is a type of code reuse attack in which a hacker hijacks objects (gadgets) in the program and use that to control the program execution flow via manipulating the sequence of methods and data being passed among these methods (gadget chains). In this paper, we describe a preliminary empirical investigation of COOP attacks in real software systems caused by untrusted object deserialization. In this preliminary study, we investigated the severity of these attacks, their consequences, and how they were mitigated by developers. Furthermore, we used the findings to create a dataset of vulnerable software projects and their fixes.

The development of technology is very rapid in everyday life, so that it provides benefits for each. One of the advantages is that with technology, users can control electronic equipment which can be done with the smart home application (smart Home) and from anywhere. This smart home application can help users control household electronic equipment such as lights, air conditioners, TVs, dispensers and others so as to reduce the waste of electricity when users forget to turn off household electronic equipment when traveling outside the house or anywhere. users are located. This research applies the concept of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Internet of Things (IoT) on smart home light by integrating Ras-berry Pi with Python programming, web server (database) with PHP and An-droid programming with java programming, and in experimental research that will be controlled. is the house light. The results of this research are in the form of a prototype of a home light controller using the IoT concept, web service and the Android SOA smart home application with 7 buttons to control / monitor lights and this system is integrated with the concept of Service Oriented Architecture which is equipped with a token as system security. Tests have been carried out by controlling house lights remotely using a smartphone via the internet net-work and the results can be controlled properly. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In the last decade Wearable Health Devices (WHDs) have enabled continuous monitoring of various human vital signs during both everyday routine and emerging situations, such as hospitalization etc. Nowadays most of WHDs are tightly coupled with smartphones, which provide means for gathering, processing, analyzing and saving personal health data for further use. The constant development of new devices and improvement of existing ones enlarge WHDs and mobile applications markets. This pose difficulties for non-technical users to select most fitting solution for their existing problems. In this paper we present an survey of up to date WHDs as well as vital signs that can be monitored using them. Further, we provide list of basic characteristics that have to be analyzed while selecting the appropriate WHD and state upcoming challenges that emerge in wearable devices industry. Additionally, we present the developed glucose rate management applications. This applications aim to help user in managing personal glucose rate, based on gathered and stored data from various WHDs.

The choice of the programming language is a fundamental decision to be made when defining a safety-oriented software development process. It has significant impact on code quality and performance, but also on the achievable level of safety, the development and verification effort, and on the cost of tool qualification. Traditionally, safety-critical systems have been programmed in C or ADA. In recent years, also C++ has entered into the discussion. C++ enables elegant programming, but its inherent language complexity is much higher compared to C. This has implications for testability, structural coverage, performance, and code analysis. Further issues to be considered are tool chain diversity, the role of the standard library, and tool qualification for compilers, analyzers and other development tools. This article summarizes the requirements of different safety norms, illustrates development and verification challenges and addresses tool qualification. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

With the rapid growth of Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices, especially in the context of smart homes, enduser programming is becoming increasingly common to easily create new functionalities by connecting IoT devices and online services using simple rules, such as event-condition-action (ECA) rules. Unfortunately, IoT devices and platforms are vulnerable under security terms, and the possible countermeasures to security threats are completely hidden to end-users. This position paper presents the idea of involving end-users in the management of security risks. In particular, we describe how existing ECA rules could be expanded to deal with security aspects, and possible strategies to support end-users in the definition and customization of security rules. © 2020 CEUR-WS. An Islamic Boarding School is one of Islamic religious education institutions that have an important role in supporting Islamic religious education in Indonesia. Islamic Boarding School has physical facilities to support the learning activities and all supporting activities. This study aims to determine the influence model between the performance factors of physical facilities based on Islamic Boarding School needs and user satisfaction. The research location is Islamic boarding school Al-Fatah Malang Regency East java. Performance factors are structured with reference to green and smart building principles. The methods used are Multiple Linear Regression, Dynamic programming, and Quantitative Method (QM). The research results generated ten performance factors including security, Safety and Healthy, Facilities Function, Architectural Aesthetics, Easiness and Affordability, structural Reliability, Building Durability, Comfortable and Regularity, Availability and Capacity of Facilities, and Implementation of Environmentally Friendly Concept. The ten performance factors have a significant influence on green and smart building performance. The steps of optimization results include security on Luggage-Free from accidents caused by building design-Natural lighting function-Aesthetic in landscapes, sculpture, and vegetation-Easy in location accessibility from the surrounding areas-Comfort in roof structure performance-Condition in dormitory building-Comfort in dormitory rooms-Availability and capacity of bathrooms-Alternative energy from solar source.

smart contracts that build up on blockchain technologies are receiving great attention in new business applications and the scientific community, because they allow untrusted parties to manifest contract terms in program code and thus eliminate the need for a trusted third party. The creation process of writing well performing and secure contracts in Ethereum, which is today's most prominent smart contract platform, is a difficult task. Research on this topic has only recently started in industry and science. Based on an analysis of collected data with Grounded Theory techniques, we have elaborated several common security patterns, which we describe in detail on the basis of Solidity, the dominating programming language for Ethereum. The presented patterns describe solutions to typical security issues and can be applied by Solidity developers to mitigate typical attack scenarios.

smart contracts are computer programs that can be consistently executed by a network of mutually distrusting nodes, without the arbitration of a trusted authority. Because of their resilience to tampering, smart contracts are appealing in many scenarios, especially in those which require transfers of money to respect certain agreed rules (like in financial services and in games). Over the last few years many platforms for smart contracts have been proposed, and some of them have been actually implemented and used. We study how the notion of smart contract is interpreted in some of these platforms. Focussing on the two most widespread ones, Bitcoin and Ethereum, we quantify the usage of smart contracts in relation to their application domain. We also analyse the most common programming patterns in Ethereum, where the source code of smart contracts is available. © international Financial Cryptography Association 2017.
