The technique of the Linear FM wasproposed to solve the problem of the inter-symbol interferencein this paper. For comparing with other modulation technique,we analyze the BER, and present the simulation results. Thetheoretical prediction and the simulation results indicate that theLinear FM is very useful to depress the inter-symbolinterference. The high transmitting speed is holding in somearea where the average of the multi-path time dispersion islarger. Merits of the Linear FM are that it is not necessary tohave an equalizer or the spread spectrum modulation.

A simplified method is proposed for calculatingthe impulse resistance of vertical grounding rods. Theanalytic formula is first derived to determine the low currentresistance and then the calculation procedure is developedto estimate the impulse resistance. In the procedure, anoulinear relationship is introduced to characterize theelectric field and current density in the ionization zonesurrounding the grounding rod. The effective radius of thegrounding rod is evaluated according to the nonlinearrelationship. The impulse resistance is calculated bysubstituting the effective radius into the analytic formula ofthe low current resistance. Finally. a comparison is madebetween calculated and measured results in confirmation ofthe validity of the proposed method.

In this paper, neural networks (NNs) and adap-tive robust control (ARC) design philosophy are integratedto design performance-oriented control laws for a class of un-certain systems whose output is corrupted by external dis-turbances. The derived adaptive-robust control schemes notonly guarantee all the signals are bounded in the closed loopbut also make the system preserve certain prescribed proper-ties. Space-time block code (STBC) hasbeen paid much attention due to its simplicity and wellperformance. For wireless downlink transmission, thismeans that the communication quality is improved withoutincreasing both the complexity of receiver and the numberof receive antennas. Instead of applying maximumlikelihood decoding (MLD), this paper will use the leastsquare decoding (LSD) to interpret the decoding structureof STBC. Furthermore, the performances of STBC-basedtransmit diversity systems in slowly Rayleigh fadingchannel are evaluated by theoretical derivation andcomputer simulation, as well. The Back propagation Neural Network (BPNN) has beenresearched and applied so broadly,to solve the problem that thetraining time of Back propagation network can be excessive, thestructure and training algorithm of priority ordered BP neuralnetworks are proposed. The neurons of its output layer havepriority ordered interconnections, during the training course, thetraining data tailed off gradually, so the algorithm may convergerapidly because of the decrease of the complexity ofperformance function. Compared with the conventional BPNN,the total iterative epochs of priority ordered BPNN are far lowerand the performance function can converge more rapidly in atext-independent speaker identification task.
