An on-line diagnostic expert system (ES) forgenerators is presented in this paper, in which theautomatic diagnostic mode and man-machine interactivediagnostic mode are used to evaluate the state ofgenelators based on the knowledge-based system (KBS).The hybrid reasoning strategy fused by the forwardchaining as well as case-based reasoning (CBR) are usedto meet the request of generators diagnosis, as welluncertain reasoning methods based on the confidencefactor (CF) model to overcome the limitation ofuncertainty, inexactness and imperfectness in theexperiential knowledge of human experts. The faultdiagnostic expert system (FDES) had obtained satisfiedresults to diagnose the insulating system of ***, the primary study on the virtual electricalhospital (VEH) based on LAN and Internet has also beencarried out.

High Level Instruction Set Computer (HISC) supportsObject-Oriented Programming (OOP) in hardware *** provides the objects' information to hardwarethrough the use of tables and a data structure calledOperand Descriptor. An implementation of the HISCarchitecture, which currently named jHISC, is underresearch. It is a 64-bit processor that developed mainlytargets for JAVA. In this paper, we will discuss how thejHISC processor can use the feature of pipelining techniqueto enhance the performance. We will start from defining thestages in HISC, then the architectural design. Finally, someissues about the implementation of jHISC on FPGA will bediscussed.

This paper reports an investigation on the economic aspectsof a typical hybrid energy system for remote islands inThailand. In addition to the utilization of renewable energy,the study has based on different electrical load profilessimulating typical usage within a year. The simulation studyand the optimization of hybrid energy system are based on acomputer program called HOMER, as the simulation *** the economic analysis the capital cost,net present costand cost of energy are determined for different types ofsystem configuration. Results from the study will be useful toaid business and investment decisions on choosing the mostappropriate system for the island resorts.

Multi-functional Power TransferController (MPTC) is one of the thyristor basedFACTS devices. Its simple structure as we1l as goodflexibility makes it an intersting case for powersystem studies in under development countries. Inthis paper after introducing some configurations ofthis controller, appropriate control law for dampingof large signal electromechanical oscillations due toshort circuit in transmission line is presented andthen, operation of various configurations of thecontroller will be simulated when a balanced threephase short circuit occurs, this procedure leads to thesuitable structure of the equipment for large signaloscillation damping.

A new techniquc to design the power system stabilizer (PSS)based on single-input fuzzy longic controller(SFLC) is proposed to enhancethe damping of a power system. A special feature of the SFLC is to it cangreatly reduce the number of fuzzy decision rules table to a one-dimensionalspace. The proposed approach is developed for designing the tuningparameters of the SFLC PSS by strip-eigenvalue placement based on linearquadratic regulator (LQR)method. that does not invlve choosing theweighting matrices. The output feedback SFLC PSS is designed by theminimum excitation error (MEE) criteria The nonlinear simulation is usedto show that the proposed SFLC PSS significantly improves theelecruomechanical mode oscillations of the power system in a largedisturbance and a wide range of operating conditions.

Pressure controlled object of distilling tower iscomplicated, has more effective factors and strong interference, itsmodeling is difficult, so normal control algorithm can't control itwith satisfactory, quality. To overcome this difficult, a kind ofgenetic fuzzy algorithm is put forward. While fuzzy logic mimicsthe human's imprecise reasoning, the genetic algorithm mimics theevolution of the nature, an optimum point always can be found bythe genetic fuzzy algorithm. In this paper, the power quality problems ofa dc arc furnace load are investigated. An 18-pulseconverter is used to provide the dc currents to thefurnace. The power quality problems concerned arethe harmonics and voltage flicker (voltage fluctuation).Field measurement is used to reveal the harmonicdistributions of the rectifiers under balanced andunbalanced conditions. The effect of passive harmonicfilters is also investigated. Althougk the dc arc furnaceis operated in constant current mode, there is stillobvious reactive power variation to cause voltageflicker. The statistics method is used to reveal the loadfluctuation. Finally a feasible reactive powercompensation scheme with instantaneous values isstudied to mitigate the voltage flicker problem.

A Novel control for redundant parallel inverterswith instantaneous current sharing is proposed. Currentsharing based upon current regulation is realized throughthe share bus connecting all the paralleled modules withoutextra control modules. The share bus consists of only threeautomatically averaged signals(no matter. how manymodules in parallel):voltage reference. current referenceand feedback voltage. The parallel system operatingwithout extra current deviation control loop is modeled intoan equivalent transfer function for the original inverter. Asa result, both fast dynamic response and equal loadcurrent sharing capability are attained under linear ornonlinear load. System configuration and operationprinciple are *** and experiment resultsare given in detail.

Due to rapid increase in missile speed, the air-defense radarsystem faces severe challenge in tracking these high-speed mis-shes. During tracking, the radar data are read into the systemin a real-time manner sequentially, and thus only few data areavailable for trajectory estimation in every short time peri-od. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an inteligent radarprediotor, including a self-organizing map (SOM), to achieveaccurate trajectory estimation under the strict time constrain-t. By knowing the dynamic model of the moving target, theSOM, an unsupervised netural network, learns to predict thetarget trajectory using a limited number of data. The per-formance of the SOM is compared with that of the Kalmanfiltering. Simulation results based on both the generated andreal radar data demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposedintelligent radar predictor.
