This study examines a three-phase, three-wire shunt active filter (SAF) integrated with the grid via an LCL filter, which mitigates distortions induced by the high switching frequency of the voltage source inverter (VSI) in SAFs. However, traditional linear feedback control methods for regulating the LCL filter introduce parasitic phase shifts between the reference and injected currents, reducing filtration efficiency. To address this, a sliding mode controller (smc) is employed to minimize phase shift, enhance SAF performance, and improve resilience to system disturbances. Despite its advantages, smc generates high-frequency switching signals that can strain VSI components. To overcome this limitation, a robust continuous higher-order sliding mode controller (HOSM) is implemented, utilizing pulse-width modulation (PWM) to maintain a stable and controlled switching frequency. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy for industrial nonlinear loads is validated through simulations conducted in MATLAB and Simscape Power systems. © 2025 ieee.

This paper investigates the application of Fractional Order Sliding Mode Control (FO-smc) for achieving robust motion trajectory regulation in dynamic robot systems operating under parameter uncertainties, including conditions of charge variation and overload. The proposed control strategy leverages fractional calculus to upgrade the robustness and performance of the control framework. A thorough analysis using Lyapunov's method is carried out to validate the asymptotic stability of the feedback control system. The analysis demonstrates that the proposed FO-smc controller ensures that the tracking errors approach zero, even when faced with inherent uncertainties and disturbances in dynamic robotic environments. Simulation results demonstrate the efficacy of the suggested method in achieving precise trajectory tracking and robust performances, particularly under challenging operational conditions such as varying charge levels and overload scenarios.

The integration of brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) in robotics presents a novel approach to enable intuitive control of robotic systems. This paper proposes a real-time control methodology for a two-link robot arm utilizing synthetic electroencephalography (EEG) signals combined with a sliding mode control (smc) strategy. The objective is to achieve precise manipulation of the robotic arm in response to the classified EEG signals, simulating brain activities that indicate movement intentions. We first generate a synthetic EEG dataset to represent brain signals indicative of left and right arm movements. This dataset serves as the input for a classification algorithm that determines the desired motion of the robotic arm. The proposed control framework leverages smc, known for its robustness against system uncertainties and external disturbances, ensuring stable performance even in dynamic environments. The dynamics of the two-link robot arm are modeled, incorporating the non-linarites associated with joint movements. The control law is designed to achieve the desired angles through a sliding surface that adapts to the specified EEG signals. Simulation results demonstrate the efficacy of the control approach, showing rapid convergence of the robot arm to the target positions based on the EEG-derived commands. Moreover, the paper presents comprehensive performance metrics, including the trajectory tracking accuracy and response time of the robotic arm. Visualizations illustrate the arm's motion during the execution of left and right movements, providing a clear understanding of the system's dynamics in action. This research highlights the potential of EEG-driven control in enhancing human-robot interaction, paving the way for future developments in assistive technologies and rehabilitation robotics. The findings indicate a promising direction for integrating BCIs in robotic systems, contributing to advancements in intelligent automation.

This study presents an adaptive fractional sliding mode control (AFsmc) strategy for finite-time trajectory tracking of differential drive mobile robots (DDMR) in the presence of system uncertainties and external disturbances. The proposed control strategy employs a fractional-order sliding surface and an optimized reaching law to ensure finite-time convergence of tracking errors while retaining robustness against external disturbances. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is employed for offline parameter tuning, where its capability to efficiently handle a large parameter space makes it an ideal choice for optimizing the control system, ensuring both enhanced performance and computational feasibility. Simulation tests comparing the AFsmc with a conventional smc show that the AFsmc exhibits higher tracking accuracy, robustness, and precise linear and angular velocity tracking. The results demonstrate the AFsmc's resilience to disturbances and minimal steady-state error, even under challenging conditions.

In this paper, we introduce a novel Direct Yaw Moment Control (DYC) system designed to bolster the stability of four-wheel independent drive (4WID) electric vehicles in diverse extreme driving conditions. Our proposed system is developed based on the design of Non-singular Fast Terminal Sliding Mode Control (NFTsmc) methods to calculate two optimal additional yaw moments, each targeting specific control objectives: the desired yaw rate and the desired sideslip angle. These calculated values are then intelligently weighted in real time using a Fuzzy Logic system to determine the final additional yaw moment applied to the vehicle. The stability of the NFTsmc methods is rigorously ensured through the Lyapunov theory. Simulation results underscore the efficacy of our proposed DYC system, particularly in navigating through extreme driving scenarios. Comparisons with no control and fixed weight-based smc strategies demonstrated significant improvements in both yaw rate and sideslip angle tracking performance. The proposed method not only amplifies control effectiveness, ensuring swift convergence and high precision, but also substantially mitigates chattering phenomena, as evidenced by yaw moment and torque observations.

This paper reviews state-of-the-art methods for UAV navigation in GNSS-denied environments, focusing on map-based spatial matching and vision-based techniques. The paper introduces a method for quantitatively analyzing the expressive power and semantic capacity of metamodels in the context of conceptual data modeling. The method leverages a formal semantic representation of metamodels, based on the Conceptual Layer of Metamodels (CLoM) and expressed using an ontological system of concepts. By extracting semantic constructs, such as concepts, semantic atoms, and semantic particles, the approach allows for a structured evaluation of metamodels’ abilities to express semantic complexity. The proposed method is applied to selected conceptual metamodels, including AOM, EER, ORM, and a reference graph metamodel, providing insights into their semantic capabilities.
