Professional development of teachers plays a significant role for the success of educational reforms and for student achievement. Programs for developing teachers' skills to integrate digital media in the classroom have received increased attention, due to the role of technology in today's world. Recent research and field experiences have identified elements which contribute to the effectiveness of such programs, among them opportunities for sustained, collaborative and self-directed learning. This paper explores how an online platform of a large scale blended program for professional development, Intel (R) Teach - Advanced Online, supports the implementation of such opportunities in practice and incorporates them in the structure of the program. The positive outcomes from the program as evidenced by its evaluation indicate that professional development based on the design principles identified as effective by recent research is a viable solution for addressing the limitations of traditional teacher training for technology integration.

Information and communication technologies (ICT) are a diverse set of technological tools and resources used for creating, storing, managing and communicating information. For educational purposes, ICT can be used to support teaching and learning as well as research activities including collaborative learning and inquiry. One of the main applications of ICT in higher education is curriculum development based on these new technologies. This research is concentrated on the obstacles, facilitators, and the risks of using these technologies in curriculum development in higher education. The main purpose of this research is to answer to the question that in which fields and to what extent there are obstacles, facilitators and the risks in using ICT in curriculum development at university level? This research has been done at the National University of Iran, the second largest university in the country;the research population consists of university academics and students. A questionnaire has been administrated for gathering the data. The main results are reported based on the following 1. The possible domains of using ICT in curriculum decision making in higher education 2. Obstacles of using ICT in curriculum development at university level 3. Facilitating factors and essential supports needed for application of ICT in curriculum development of higher education 4. Advantages and disadvantages of using ICT for curricular activities at university level.

One of the debatable issues in programming courses for core computer Science (CS) and Information technology (IT) education is on how to improve the assessment so that it will reflect student's programming skills. This research will focus on this issue by proposing a new model to support the assessment of programming courses, specifically in object-oriented programming. The model will be developed by identifying object oriented concepts that student's have applied in their program source code using object oriented metrics. Metrics are an important technique in quantifying desirable software and software development characteristics of object oriented software development. Currently, metrics proposed for OO software development have rarely been used to support assessment process. This paper will investigate the suitable object-oriented metrics to be applied in the process of developing the assessment model for object-oriented programming courses. We give an overview on the object-oriented metrics and the necessary steps on the applications of metrics towards development of the assessment model.
