Although digital resources play an increasing role in Second Language Acquisition (SLA), Korean learners of English are provided with little deliberate instruction in Second Language (L2) Digital Literacy. Student computer usage for SLA purposes is minimal, but is governed by teacher expectations;if teachers do not encourage student use of computers in English, this will not likely spontaneously occur. Institutional recognition of the importance of L2 digital literacy to SLA is also limited. However, the predominant use of English by non-native speakers will be in communication with other non-native speakers, not with native speakers. Secondly, the emergence of English as a global language has meant that the predominance of online discourse is in English. Thirdly, a critical threshold is approaching where the majority of interpersonal communications will be computer-mediated, rather than face-to-face;and this trend will likely accelerate. Non-native speakers will mainly use their English to navigate English language digital resources, and publish online content in English;and in computer-mediated communication with other mainly non-native speakers of English. Therefore L2 Digital Literacy in English is critically important to student development. Proactive use of English-language digital resources is needed, as is the teaching and learning of English-language digital skills.

Accessibility and usability have become increasingly important in design and development of technology. This poster briefly reviews how accessibility concepts may be included in computer science courses as students are educated to become practitioners. In a usability engineering course, the authors included a group development project that included an accessibility component. They conducted a survey of student attitudes toward these issues at the start and end of the course. Results of the survey indicate that students' awareness of issues related to usability and accessibility are increased after taking the course and completing the project. In particular, students showed a significant increase in their rating of importance for the item "broadening the range of technology users". The authors also performed a factor analysis of the survey responses and determined that items fell into three factors, one of which was concerned with accessibility and usability.

Thailand is now the world's largest exporter of hard disk drive (HDD) with four HDD giants (Seagate technology, Hitachi Global Storage technology (HGST), Fujitsu and Western Digital) all have their production bases in the country. Together with companies supplying materials to these four manufacturers, Thailand hosts almost the entire supply chain of the industry. However, there was no formal technology transfer process within the industry between Multinational companies (MNCs) and local SMEs. Not until recently that Thai government established the Hard Disk Drive Institute (HDDI) to formally develop national capability on the HDD technology. With Financial supports from the government through the National Science and technologydevelopment Agency (NSTDA), HDDI supports collaborative researches between local universities and the HDD industry. This study aims to identify key indicators to monitor the technology transfer process within the HDD cluster in Thailand. The Intellectual Capital Cluster Index (ICCI) is applied to combine these indicators. The results of this research would provide the government with guideline to monitor and create supportive policies to facilitate the technology transfer process within the cluster.

Important information from unstructured text is typically entered manually into knowledge bases, resulting in limited quantities of data. Automated information extraction from the text could assist with this process, but the technology is still at unacceptable accuracies. This task therefore requires a suitable user interface to allow for correction of the frequent extraction errors and validation of proposed assertions that a user wants to enter into a knowledge base. In this paper, we discuss our system for semi-automatic database population and how it handles the issues arising in content extraction and populating a knowledge base. The main contributions of this work are identifying the challenges in building such a semi-automated tool, the categorization of extraction errors, addressing the gaps in current extraction technology required for databasing, and the design and development of a usable interface and system, FEEDE, to support correcting content extraction output and speeding up the data entry time into knowledge bases. To our knowledge, this is the first effort to populate knowledge bases using content extraction from unstructured text.

This study aims at proposing a training program to improve teachers' competence using ICT (Information and Communication technology) on a remote island. It is expected by means of ICT in class, to have students communicate with their peers in other regions, acquire a skill for presentation and reflect on their studies. However there are few opportunities for teachers to learn the use of ICT. Therefore, we investigated the computer anxiety of teachers and evaluated a training program. The training program has two viewpoints: participation and study of teaching materials. On the whole, the evaluation of the training program was affirmative. In particular, the evaluation of study of teaching materials received a high score. Participation was effective for teachers who have social computer anxiety.
