The concept and range of spatial information are gradually expanding to various fields through fusion in a point of time when a ubiquitous environment is rapidly developing. Thus, a prototype for construction of a real-time spatial information management system has been developed by integrating a human movement sensing system into a SICS(Spatial Information Control System) engine that can integrally manage inside spatial information extracted from 3D CAD and outside spatial information of GIS. Also, the future research development direction was decided through a pilot test. The Add-on program was developed to extract spatial information necessary for the SICS engine from 3D CAD information, and a human movement sensing system was developed through human movement sensing technology to obtain information of the number of indoor personnel, and thus the interface capable of being utilized was developed by integrating these technologies.

Parallel transport control protocol (TCP) has been used to effectively utilize bandwidth for data intensive applications over high bandwidth-delay product (BDP) networks. On the other hand, it has been argued that, a single based TCP connection with proper modification such as HSTCP can emulate and capture the robustness of parallel TCP and can well replace it. In this work a Comparison between single-based and the proposed parallel TCP has been conducted to show the differences in their performance measurements such as throughput performance and throughput ratio, as well as the link sharing fairness also has been observed to show the impact of using the proposed parallel TCP on the existing single-based TCP connections. The experiment results show that, single-based TCP cannot overcome parallel TCP especially in heterogeneous networks where the packet losses are common. Furthermore, the proposed parallel TCP does not affect TCP fairness which makes parallel TCP highly recommended to effectively utilize bandwidth for data intensive applications.

Web Services have become a viable component technology in distributed E-commerce platforms. Due to the move to high-speed Internet communication and tremendous increases in computing power, network latency has begun to play a more important role in determining service response time. A new model of distributed E-commerce architecture was presented for Web technology, which aimed at integration and inter-operation between different platforms. It is an application that is supported by those open criterions and technologies involving XML, SOAP, WSDL and UDDI. By the mechanisms such as service definition, service advertising, service discovery, service binding and service invocation, it accomplishes a loose coupling frame of enterprise application integration. In the paper, we introduce how to apply Web technology in the electronic commerce. Firstly, we analyze and research E-commerce based on Internet, and bring forward some problems and suggestions of E-commerce. Digital manufacturing has been considered, over the last decade, as a highly promising set of technologies for reducing product development times and cost as well as for addressing the need for customization, increased product quality, and faster response to the market. This paper describes the evolution of information technology systems in manufacturing, outlining their characteristics and the challenges to be addressed in the future. Together with the digital manufacturing and factory concepts, the technologies considered in this paper include computer-aided design, engineering, process planning and manufacturing, product data and life-cycle management, simulation and virtual reality, automation, process control, shopfloor scheduling, decision support, decision making, manufacturing resource planning, enterprise resource planning, logistics, supply chain management, and e-commerce systems. These technologies are discussed in the context of the digital factory and manufacturing concepts.

In this paper, the effect of external optical feedback (EOF) on the turn-on time delay (t on ) of uncooled semiconductor laser diode (SLD) is investigated theoretically. The effects temperature of operation (T) and EOF on t on are calculated according to their effect on threshold carrier density (N th ). The temperature dependence (TD) of N th is calculated according to the TD of laser cavity parameters and not by the well-known Parkove relationship. Simulation results show that t on increases as T increases due to increasing of N th . In addition, t on decreases as external reflectivity (r ext ) increases when the phase of reflected light is coherent. While at incoherent reflected light, t on increases sharply around specified value of r ext where this leads to inoperable case for SLD.

In collaborative Software Maintenance (SM) environment, knowledge sharing is vital to ensure various parties have the necessary information to perform SM tasks. However, patterns of knowledge sharing interactions within the networked organization of SM Community of Practice (CoP) and factors that influence these interactions are yet to be established. We study the dialogues captured in the Software Configuration Management (SCM) tool used by a global SM organization and use Pajek, a Social Network Analysis (SNA) tool, to map the interactions among users and maintenance personnel. The results revealed technical, planning and domain information as most shared information. Network bottlenecks are also identified, which evolves around a key development manager, a development team leader and a systems analyst. Also, there are lack of direct interactions between programmers and domain knowledge providers. As such, the SM environment could benefit from process automations on selected tasks of the above bottleneck areas to ensure knowledge are shared across the board.
