Ceramic sanitary ware is one of the most important product in sanitary system that should be taken into consideration in energy- saving and emission reduction. Using computer aided engineering (CAE), an optimal design framework of water closet (WC) was constructed and the traditional WC design method was improved, resulting reduction of water consumption. Based on this framework, the traditional technological process was also improved by a fission structure design, decreasing the comprehensive energy consumption per unit products of WC 9.6-12 kgce and 12800-16000 tce per million products. The method reported in this paper might provide some useful information and is expected to promote the development of water-saving in urban residential water and energy-saving technology of ceramic sanitary ware.

It may be argued that in the context of developing countries, flood preparedness is more valuable than the actual response to a flood disaster. The paper looks at this flood preparedness in the context of informal and semi-formal settlements. Most Muslim countries provide trainings to their pilgrims before departing for Mecca in order to assist them in achieving a perfect or mabrur hajj. However they probably encounter hajj related problems that require them to make immediate decisions especially while performing hajj. In such situations they may refer to hajj guide books or their fellow pilgrims. Besides, they may need to refer to hajj experts in the decision making process pertaining to more complex problems. Nevertheless, experts may not be around all the time especially while performing hajj rituals. We propose a knowledge-based approach that can capture possible problems and solutions from the experts in a prototype known as hajj Q&A expert system or Hajj-QAES. It provides an interface that enables experts to capture both simple and advanced questions. Thus, we anticipate Hajj-QAES can support pilgrims both in learning process and most importantly while performing hajj in Mecca. Such systems would be more accessible should it be installed in handheld devices such as a hand phone or a personal digital assistant (PDA).

Modern manufacturing industries demand STEP-NC controllers, having higher level input languages than G-code, and less proprietary vendor dependencies. And the development of information extraction system model based on STEP-NC program is the premise of STEP-NC controller development. In this paper, STEP-NC data model integration and machining program structure are firstly analyzed. With late binding ideology of Standard Data Access Interface, the information extraction system model is developed based on Visual C++6.0. Principles and realization method of model entity construction, lexical analysis, entity-instance matching, information extraction and information display are discussed in detail. Finally, through the experiments, the information extraction system model is verified to be effective. The information extraction system model based on STEP-NC program has a unified format for data exchange, and will provide the conditions for the STEP-NC controller development in the future, which has intelligence, openness and compatibility.
