The design and measurements of the prototype general purpose digital to analog converter for readout systems in high energy physics experiments are presented. The main goals for the proposed DAC are low power consumptions, small die area and high output swing. The 10 bit DAC design is based on current steering architecture comprising high swing class AB output amplifier. The prototype ASIC is fabricated in the 2P-4M 0.35-mu m technology. The measurements of maximum differential (DNL) and integral (INL) nonlinearity show 0.8 and 0.6 LSB respectively. The total power consumption is below 0.6 mW while the area is 0.18 mm(2).

We surveyed 13 crisis-related mashups to derive some high-level design directions to guide the design and testing of next generation crisis support tools. The current web mashups offer a new way of looking at how crises are spatiotemporally ordered. In today's education scenario, educators intentionally and unintentionally use stories as part of their teaching tool to increase students' understanding. While storytelling is widely recognized tool in classroom teaching, its implementation and acceptance in higher education institution in Malaysia is still unclear. This paper reports a case study that explores the perception of educators in the usage of storytelling as a teaching aid in courses at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. The objectives of this study are to explore the usage of stories and acceptance of stories as a teaching aid in lecture as well as issues faced by the educators in utilizing the storytelling approach. This study is an exploratory case study that uses a mixed method approach. Data were collected from June until December 2008 through interviews, questionnaires and non-participant observation. Results show that 67% of the participants have used stories in their lectures. Overall, the results indicate that the storytelling approach is practiced deliberately and in deliberately by educators. The usage of storytelling has raised a number of issues such as lack of understanding and lack of awareness of the approach. However, educators believe that storytelling can facilitate the learning process in higher education and encourage the critical thinking skills in students.

We describe a new scalable display framevvork, called iTILE, designed to help ease the development of interactive graphics applications that run on a large tiled display. The framevvork supports the execution of multiple interactive scene-graph applications, synchronized rendering, distributed data sharing, and unified user interface mechanism on a cluster-driven tiled display. It enables the application window launching, moving and resizing on a tiled display that requires a dynamic reconfiguration of rendering nodçs. It also provides the standardized method to support various input devices for the interactive contents. This paper presents the design and the implementation of iTILE architecture and a few applications built using this framevvork.
