Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are collection of mobile nodes communicate in a multi-hop manner without relaying on any infrastructure or central administration. Multimedia and group-oriented applications over MANETs gain high popularity, which makes providing quality of services (QoS) a key requirement. This work proposed a new efficient approach which aims to find paths between the source and all the multicast group members using paths that meet the bandwidth and delay requirements. Unlike some of multicast routing protocols, the proposed approach has limited maintaining the network topology to certain nodes to reduce communication overhead and provide scalability. The proposed protocol partitioned the network into equal size hexagonal cells and a leader and backup leader are elected inside each cell. The location information provided by GPS receivers are used at route discovery and route maintenance. This protocol allows multicast group members to join/leave the held session dynamically. The proposed protocol is scalable for large area networks with large multicast members. Also, it achieves a significant reduction in processing overhead than non hierarchical algorithms.

In Malaysia, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) as the power utility company have two methods to take the metering data from their customer. For their ordinary customers (OPC, ordinary power customer), they used conventional method, by sending meter-readers on monthly basis to do meter reading from meters installed at their customers premises. For large or industrial customers (LPC, large power customer), they used global system for mobile communication-based (GSM) AMR technology. Here GSM module is attached to each LPC's meter, and data reading can be done automatically without visiting their customer's sites. For OPC customers, conventional method is facing some issues that need to be improved. In this paper we described the propose hybrid automatic meter reading (AMR) system which is a combination of ZigBee and GSM technology. In this propose system, ZigBee module will be attached to the meter by using interface board and the data collector will be connected to the central computer by using GSM. The system is suitable with Malaysian condition which already implemented GSM-based AMR in LPC. With this system TNB can save cost in doing meter reading and provide better services to their customers.

The concept of decision making is an important issue that has been recognized in requirements prioritization because most projects are constrained by budget and time; therefore it is often difficult to implement all requirements that have been elicited for a system. For prioritization purposes, many approaches have been proposed so far to help the process but still it is not possible to get a real understanding of whether one approach is better. One reason for this may be that different studies are done in different contexts, measure and report different variables, and use different data sets. This makes it hard to compare different studies with each other to get an understanding of when different prioritization approaches are suitable to use. It is also important to realize that using common and similar studies for the body of knowledge in this area will not be possible. This paper presents a study designed for prioritizing of online-banking system requirements through using value-oriented framework which is based on bank business value. Three bank employees from online-banking group have participated in a survey for this study. This study demonstrates accuracy and ease of use of value-oriented framework prioritization in the banking systems by managing and prioritizing of the requirements.

Grid computing integrates scattered clusters, servers, storages and networks in different geographic locations to form a virtual super-computer. Along with the development of grid computing, dealing with the data distribution requires a method which is faster and more effective for parallel applications in order to reduce data exchange between clusters. In this paper, we present two methods to reduce inter-cluster communication cost based on the consideration to different kinds of communication cost and a simple logic mapping technology. Our theoretical analyses and simulation results show the proposed methods are better than the methods without reordering processor and considering the communication cost. The performance evaluation shows that the proposed methods not only reduce communication cost successfully but also achieve a great improvement.

For high quality software, software requirements must be complete. In practice, not all software requirements are complete. In case of incomplete software requirements, software engineers fill in the requirements' gaps by getting feedback from the stakeholders or by making explicit or implicit assumptions. Explicit assumptions can be validated during analysis, while implicit assumptions validation is carried to design and implementation. Thus, compared to implicit assumption, explicit assumptions are better. Software requirements specifications change during different phases of project life-cycle. In an attempt to improve software development processes, we conducted an empirical study to search possible relationships between the number of implicit assumptions made by software engineers and requirements' volatility. This practice paper presents data from three completed projects at one CMMI level 3 company. Within the limit of our data set, our experience shows that possible relationships between projects' requirements volatility and the number of implicit assumptions are worth studying.

There has been steady effort to modelize or recognize human action in fields of computer visions or mechanical learning, which should lead to fruitful results. This study presents how to extract key postures that can explain human actions within video sequence. To detect key postures that can differentiate human actions significantly, we select key posture candidates using information entropy which is a global feature, and then during key posture matching using shape context, we can select critical key postures. The method proposed shows efficiency in the experimental results and will contribute to development of research by inferring human action through connection of key postures with respect to human action.
