According to China Association of Automobile Manufactures statistics, China's automobile production and sales ranked first in the world in 2009. Although China has become a big country of automobile manufacture, the research and design capabilities of automobile is still weak, especially in styling design. How to use computer aided technology to promote the development of car styling design is the aim of this article. CAS (computer aided styling) may be is a good choice. First, comparing the different among traditional styling design process, CAD design process and CAS design process, this article points out the benefits brought by CAS;Second, this article explain the details of CAS design in car styling design;Finally, this article analysis the character of CAS which is important to apply CAS correctly. If Chinese auto companies could apply CAS well in car styling design, the industry of China automobile will enter a new phase.

This paper addresses the issue of redundant data in large-scale collections of Q&A forums. We propose and evaluate a novel algorithm for automatically detecting the near-duplicate Q&A threads. The main idea is to use the distributed index and MapReduce framework to calculate pairwise similarity and identify redundant data fast and scalably. The proposed method was evaluated on a real-world data collection crawled from a popular Q&A forum. Experimental results show that our proposed method can effectively and efficiently detect near-duplicate content in large web collections. © 2011 AFNLP

The optimization in reliability cost/benefit analysis for distribution investment planning has been more attended on energy delivery services in Thailand. In this research, the reliability costs for the customer point of views represented as the outage costs are presented. The data for analysis is provided from customer survey-based method during 2008-2009. Due to the direct and indirect impacts for electric customer in each category are different, the concept and methodology for data collecting based on customer survey is described. According to the investigation of outage costs in different sector, the results from customer survey are classified into four customer sectors. In each sector, the individual customer damage function (ICDF) derived from survey are aggregated to develop sector customer damage function (SCDF). The composite customer damage function (CCDF) for the large area is obtained by using SCDFs and electrical energy utilization ratio in each customer sector under interested area. The CCDFs of four service areas under the rural distribution utility is also evaluated in this article. © 2011 IEEE.

As technology evolves (e.g. 3D cameras, accelerometers, multitouch surfaces, etc.) new gestural interaction methods are becoming part of the everyday use of computational devices. This trend forces practitioners to develop applications for each interaction method individually. This paper tackles the problem of interpreting gestures in a multiple ways of interaction scenario, by focusing on the abstract gesture rather than on the technology or technologies used to generate it. This article describes the Flash Library for Interpreting Natural Gestures (FLING), a framework for developing multi-gestural applications integrated and running in different gestural-platforms. By offering an architecture for the integration and unification of different types of interaction, FLING eases scalability while presenting an environment for rapid prototyping by novice multi-gestural programmers. Throughout the article we analyse the benefits of this approach, comparing it with state of the art technologies, describe the framework architecture, and present several examples of applications and experiences of use.

In short-term weather analysis, we use clustering algorithm as a fundamental tool to analyze and display the radar reflectivity data. Different from ordinary parallel k-means clustering algorithms using compute unified device architecture, in our clustering of radar reflectivity data, we face the dataset of large scale and the high dimension of texture feature vector we used as clustering space. Therefore, the memory access latency becomes a new bottleneck in our application of short-term weather analysis which requests real time. We propose a novel parallel k-means method on graphics processing units which utilizes on-chip registers and shared memory to cut the dependency of off-chip global memory. The experimental results show that our optimization approach can achieve 40x performance improvement compared to the serial code. It sharply reduces the algorithm's running time and makes it satisfy the request of real time in applications of short-term weather analysis. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media B.V.

In recent years, keyphrase extraction has received great attention, and been successfully employed by various applications. Keyphrases extracted from news articles can be used to concisely represent main contents of news events. Keyphrases can help users to speed up browsing and find the desired contents more quickly. In this paper, we first present several criteria of high-quality news keyphrases. After that, in order to integrate those criteria into the keyphrase extraction task, we propose a novel formulation which converts the task to a binary integer programming problem. The formulation cannot only encode the prior knowledge as constraints, but also learn constraints from data. We evaluate the proposed approach on a manually labeled corpus. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach achieves better performances compared with the state-of-the-art methods. © 2011 AFNLP

The coal bed exploration type division has important significance in the layout of the exploration projects and the determination of the exploration degree. The paper analyzed the factors of the coal bed exploration type division, and described China's existing coal bed exploration type division and pointed out the deficiency of the China's existing coal bed exploration type division, and summarized the quantitative division of the coal bed exploration type. The authors put forward the development trend of the coal bed exploration types:(1) in the classification indicators, from the qualitative description to the quantitative statistics;(2) in the choice of the exploration means, from the single drilling project exploration to the integrated exploration;(3) in the layout system of the exploration projects, from the uniform exploration line system and the uniform exploration net system to the uneven complex exploration system;(4) in the research contents, from the simple "type- net density- reserves" to guiding the coal exploration systems and the computer simulation;(5) in the indicators of the coal bed exploration type division, not only to consider the geological structure complexity and coal bed stability of the exploration area, but also to consider the coal-bed mining technology conditions.

The rapid growth of the Information & Communication technology (ICT) systems and network infrastructures have cause the Internet to be borderless and inevitably given rise to the issues in mitigating cross border cyber crimes. Realizing the danger and the huge impact of this matter, the computer Security and Incident Response Teams (CSIRT) or the computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) have developed international and regional collaborations to deal with cross borders cyber threats. Sharing intelligence, research, best practice, challenges and learning from other's mistakes as well as helping to formulate and drive international policy direction and initiatives will help member countries to protect their own critical information infrastructure. Acknowledging this new trend of collaboration and the threats in the cyber world, the Organization of Islamic conference (OIC) has agreed to the establishment of inter CSIRT/CERT collaboration among its member countries. The OIC - CERT was established in 2009 with the status of an affiliated institution to the OIC. Presently, 18 OIC countries are members of this collaboration and various activities are being conducted with the main objective being to facilitate the development of CIRST capabilities, information sharing on views and issues in cyber security. From the economic perspective, information security is currently considered as one of the factors to lure foreign investment to a country. Thus strengthening the nation's information security will help improve international recognition. © 2011 EWI.

Machine learning algorithms have provided core functionality to many application domains - such as bioinformatics, computational linguistics, etc. However, it is difficult to detect faults in such applications because often there is no "test oracle" to verify the correctness of the computed outputs. To help address the software quality, in this paper we present a technique for testing the implementations of machine learning classification algorithms which support such applications. Our approach is based on the technique "metamorphic testing", which has been shown to be effective to alleviate the oracle problem. Also presented include a case study on a real-world machine learning application framework, and a discussion of how programmers implementing machine learning algorithms can avoid the common pitfalls discovered in our study. We also conduct mutation analysis and cross-validation, which reveal that our method has high effectiveness in killing mutants, and that observing expected cross-validation result alone is not sufficiently effective to detect faults in a supervised classification program. The effectiveness of metamorphic testing is further confirmed by the detection of real faults in a popular open-source classification program. © 2010 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Path queries on massive graphs based on multi-granular graph partitioning

The quotient space theory can represent the world at different granularities and deal with complicated problems hierarchically. In this paper, we introduce a method for finding shortest path on massive graphs based on multi-granular graph partitioning. Path queries into two parts: preprocessing and query step. In preprocessing, we introduce a heuristic local community structure discovery algorithm to decompose massive graphs into some local communities and construct a sequence of hierarchical quotient spaces to describe hierarchy structure on massive graphs. In query, we improve evaluation function of heuristic search method in path query. The implementation works on massive networks. From experimental results, it can be stated that proposed algorithm is effective and efficient in transportation road networks of US. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
