During the last 15 years the way how software products are being developed has changed dramatically. Today, software is developed very efficiently in an industrialized manner. One of the cornerstones is that new development processes introduced a domain-centric view rather than a technology-centric view. As a result, big and complex software systems can be built very fast, reliable and according to customers' requirements. Unfortunately, these advances in software engineering have had little to no effect on the software development process for robotic applications. This paper explains how domain-centric design can be introduced in the domain of industrial robotics and which possible benefits it might yield.

The idea of smart home originated from the concept of home automation, and this goal was based on the availability of a smart home network for devices to communicate. Even though solutions for the home network have been discussed for years, and networking technologies over different media such as power line, phone line and Ethernet have been tested and found functional satisfaction, the applications of smart home were not found popular. This is because a gap remaining between users' habits and the services offered by the so called dasiasmart appliancespsila, including information and communication devices and network-enabled white goods. In this article, a proposal to integrate different groups of smart appliances and deliver more value-added services will be introduced. More details about the development and implementation of the key technologies for the smart home network, smart appliances and value-added services will be described.

How to improve the reusability of testing environment is a key problem to be solved in embedded software testing field. In this paper, the framework technology is introduced into the construction of embedded software testing environment firstly. And then, the micro-core plug-in framework is used as the design basis of embedded software testing development environment framework (ESTDEF). Furthermore, the architecture of ESTDEF, including kernel, basic plug-in and application plug-in is put forward; meanwhile, the design of main application plug-ins is given. Finally, the verification result of feasibility and effectiveness of the micro-core plug-in framework from assemblies and extensibility perspective indicates the framework has possessed high efficiency, good reusability and extensibility.

This paper presents a new hierarchical development for sensor fusion, along with its programming for Wirobot X80. According to the development, first, an approach to locating targets is proposed when only ultrasonic sensors are available. Second, a method for calculate the coordinates of the ground special points, which are taken as the position descriptions of the recognized target will be developed. Third, when ultrasonic sensors are available simultaneously, elements at the intersection of the information from ultrasonic sensors are fused to form reliable position coordinates of the recognized target. Lastly, ultrasonic sensors have been chosen due to accuracy in distance measurement, simple, low-cost and safe for human.

Designing an OCR system for Indian languages in general is more complex than those of European languages due the linguistic complexity. Efforts are on the way for the development of efficient OCR systems for Indian languages, especially for Telugu, a popular South Indian language. In this paper, we proposed a method for reliable extraction of text line, word and character from document images of Telugu scripts. In the text line segmentation, first we establish the relationship between the connected components and then cluster the connected components of a line using vertical spatial relation and nearest neighbor algorithm. In word segmentation, the space between two adjacent characters is computed and clustered into word space and character space. Consonant and vowel modifiers are segregated from the word image and segment the characters.

P2P network is a great innovation makes computing and data transmission more efficiency and convenience. With the rapid development of P2P network, many problems appear to our sight. Nowadays, most of studies focus on routing algorithms and structured topology of the network, but ignore the foundation: the replication mechanism. In the paper, our research is based on the sub dividable area. We propose a new mechanism calls junction replication method (JRM) in unstructured decentralized P2P network which reflects the most usual P2P network in the real environment. With the method, we can achieve better load-balancing by reducing information flow. We also suggest using JRM to decrease the value of supernode to balance the traffic in network and improve the stability of the network. We compare JRM with others popular replication mechanisms, give pseudo code of the algorithm and prove the advantage by figure in the paper.

Integrated sensors based on microelectronic technology were first developed in the late 60s for medical applications. Today they have evolved into wireless integrated microsystems (WIMS), combining micropower circuits, wireless interfaces, hermetic packaging, embedded power sources, and MEMS. Such devices are poised to provide important breakthroughs in health care. This paper traces the development of medical microsystems by looking at three of its earliest devices. Catheter-tip pressure sensors have evolved into smart stents and wireless intraocular monitors; wristwatch-size gas chromatography systems are emerging for the rapid identification of biomarkers for in breath; and neural interfaces are permitting revolutionary advances in neuroscience and in prostheses for deafness, blindness, epilepsy, paralysis, Parkinson's disease, and other disorders. The present status and remaining challenges in such devices will be described.

As the development of Internet, it is more and more difficult to detect anomaly promptly and precisely. In this paper, we proposed an anomaly detection algorithm based on the predicting of multi-level wavelet detail signals synchronously. Firstly, process the time series of traffic with non-decimated Haar wavelet transform and produce detail signals. Secondly, predict the detail signals of wavelet transform and get the residual ratio series, which can expose the anomaly more obviously than original signal. Finally, based on principal of ldquo3sigmardquo of normal distribution, abrupt changes can be detected. Along with the arriving of traffic data, this algorithm detects anomaly on several time-scales recursively without delay. So this algorithm can detect traffic anomaly more precisely and promptly. Analysis and experiments reveal that this algorithm can detect anomalies effectively.

Data warehousing has been a buzz word in the industry. Researches have been constantly involved in finding new ways of designing and developing data warehousing architectures, algorithms and tools for bringing together some selected data from multiple heterogeneous databases into a single repository. The real work of taking output from the data warehouse depends largely on how it is managed. Although a lot of research is going on to enhance the design and development of data warehouse, very little effort has been spent on the maintenance side. Without proper maintenance data warehouse is not going to give the desired output which is expected of it. In this work a comparison of various architectures of data warehousing system, based on analyzed on concepts like wrapper, monitor, integrator, metadata, data quantity indicator is considered. The objective of the work is to come out with comparisons between theoretical projections and real world findings on all these factors. The final goal of the work is to suggest an improved methodology for potential users of the data warehouse in their decision making process in the business process system.

Organizations seek opportunities to innovate when technological asymmetries between sub-systems emerge in evolving technological systems. Consequently, competition among organizations to close technological disparities should lead to the development of products with higher performance. However, currently little is known about the dynamic relationship between the time lag in technology utilization and product success. In this paper we firstly develop a time gap measure of technological disparity between sub-systems within a technological system and apply the developed measure in an empirical study of the personal computer (PC) system's GPU (graphics processing unit) and PC game sub-systems including 1300 product launches. Our findings show that the PC game sub-system trails the GPU sub-system in the level of technological performance throughout the years 1996 to 2007, inclusively, with varying size of time gap. Secondly, we explore the relationship the technological disparity, as measured by the time gap, with the product performance of PC games, as measured by game ratings. Our results interestingly do not indicate a relationship between the time gap and the success of PC games. We elaborate on managerial implications of these findings and provide theoretical generalizations on technology systems and their evolution inside the technology and innovation management arena.
