The popularity of consuming multimedia content on mobile phones is increasing more and more, not only because of the availability of the technical infrastructure, but also because of the mobility in modern society. We are developing a mobile multimedia streaming application. The crucial factor for such applications in order to be adopted and successful is user acceptance. This paper presents the preliminary concept and design of a contextual mobile multimedia content usability study. The study is conducted within are search project on agile software development methodologies with special emphasis on Extreme Programming and continuous usability evaluation. Past work included satisfaction of the needs of end users by means of focusing on user-experience in all steps of the development process. To gain scientific relevant data, the careful design of a study is considered most important. The study which will be conducted in October 2008 will give insights into mobile HCI concerning the coherence of content types, consumption times, and consumption contexts.

Advances in Internet and mobile technology along with global access to broadband connectivity has led to a huge increase in the numbers of people studying and learning through distance education. E-learning because of its flexibility provides non-traditional students with an opportunity to incorporate study into their existing lifestyle, irrespective of geographic location or personal time constraints. At the University of Ulster a virtual learning environment (VLE), WebCT, was put in place in 2001 to meet the changing learning needs of students and, provide access to a dedicated area for each module of study. Wide scale implementation of e-learning brings with it a requirement for significant staff development in order to equip the tutors with the requisite skills and expertise to facilitate online tuition. This paper describes a unique e-tutor training program aimed at equipping online tutors with the skills necessary to mentor, facilitate and deliver a high standard of learning online. Analysis and evaluation of feedback from the e-tutor training program provides evidence of the need to implement such a program as a solid foundation for advancing the e-learning agenda.

Team Software Process (TSP) is brought forward to help improve the efficiency of software development process. Further, establishing simulation model for TSP can facilitate developers' understanding, forecast possible shortcomings and bottlenecks in process and assist developers' decision-making, supervise and control project development process. In this paper, firstly Temporal Parallel Automata (TPA) theory expanded from the finite state automata theory is applied into software process modeling. Secondly the concepts and the process control structures of TSP which are divided into sequence, AND-join, AND-split, OR-join, OR-split and Loop structure are mapped to TPA, thereby the TSP simulation model based on TPA is built. Thirdly the definition of soundness is given for soundness verification of process model. Finally, an instance is used to verify the validity of process model. It is proved that activity planning, resource allocation and schedule control of software process can be implemented effectively by the model.

There are two essential reasons for the slow progress in the acceptance of clinical case retrieval and similarity search-based decision support systems; the especial complexity of clinical data making it difficult to define a meaningful and effective distance function on them and the lack of transparency and explanation ability in many existing clinical case retrieval decision support systems. In this paper, we try to address these two problems by introducing a novel technique for visualizing inter-patient similarity based on a node-link representation with neighborhood graphs and by considering two techniques for learning discriminative distance function that help to combine the power of strong "black box" learners with the transparency of case retrieval and nearest neighbor classification.

Today, iris recognition, fingerprint recognition, face recognition, voice recognition and other biometric technology are experiencing rapid development. This paper addresses a new biometric technology-optic fundus blood vessel skeleton recognition based on band tree. The green gray scale ocular fundus image is utilized. The skeleton feature of optic fundus blood vessel is extracted at first. After filtering treatment and extracting feature, the band tree represented vector curve of blood vessels is obtained. The band tree matching is later carried out by means of reference point matching and tree indexing. The ocular fundus blood vessel recognition has been demonstrated in this paper to possess high recognition rate, low recognition rejection rate as well as good universality, exclusiveness and stability. With more and more progress made in extracting technology, the optic fundus blood vessel recognition is to become an effective biometric technology.

A dynamically reconfigurable computing system based on network-on-chip (DReNoC) is proposed, which consists of computing nodes and communication nodes. The computing node is a complete coarse-grained dynamically reconfigurable SoC named DReSoC. And the DReSoCs communicate with each other through on chip network routers. The proposed DReNoC has been implemented on the ALTERA STRATIX II EP2S180 DSP development board with 48063 Combinational ALUTs and 26211 logic registers. Experimental result of 8?8 matrix sequential matrix multiplications showed that, compared with a single-core system-on-chip (SoC) based on the standard Nios II processor, the speed-up ratio can reach 124.91.

In the process of enterprise architecture planning, the ldquoas-isrdquo architecture is considered as baseline architecture, and target-architecture is designed on its basis. However, in some enterprises, particularly in developing countries, ldquoas-isrdquo architecture is not a suitable basis for creating target architecture. One method of improvement and correction of organizational architecture is using enterprise architecture maturity. In such cases, improvement efforts will not only fail to improve the procedures, but also consume time and financial and human resources of the organization. That is why it is recommended to redesign the organizational architecture instead of organizational architecture improvement. In this paper, multifactor systems are used to provide a practical method for assessment of any given organization and making accurate decisions on improvement or redesign of its architecture based on missions, goals and restrictions of the organization. With the use of this method, the enterprise architectures can be assessed and an accurate decision about development of the enterprises can be made based on its mission.

This paper presents eDalgo, a project dedicated to the creation of an innovative interactive hypermedia based on the self regulated learning. It contains the important basic notions of algorithms and programming being therefore a very useful tool for beginners. A methodological approach is proposed as a basis for development. First, conception phase makes use of CEPIAH interactive guide. The second phase uses the netUniversity platform (technology Enhanced Learning Environment). As a result, learners from different partner universities have access to an interactive course, adopting aspects of self regulated learning. Reserving a special part to learner needs and adapting the course according to him is crucial. Therefore, improving eLearning quality would project classical teaching into a new era of learning. This would be possible with an hypermedia adapted to the cognitive level and to the learner preferences, without omitting the social aspect of his learning.
