A new instrument for measuring cooling airflow of car radiator is introduced after analyzing existing instruments and methods,and the measuring principle and design method of new instrument is described in detail too. On-line measurement can be realized by the new instrument,and the information of cooling air flow distribution can also be got during the measuring process. In addition,the new instrument could recognize the wind direction well. The test results demonstrated that the instrument is reliable and the measurement accuracy is high,so the instrument is worth being spread and applied.

A tool, called ARDK (augmented reality development kit), which has more advantages than former tools of this kind, is developed and represented in this paper. The advantages over others are as follows: without setting internal parameters of camera ahead of time, ARDK allows the system to automatically compute them at the real-time during the operating. It also solves the problem of being unable to change the internal parameters of camera when the system is running. This tool adopts a developed camera pose tracking method based on homography matrix to settle the problem of registration when the mark is partly covered, and also enables the system to avoid the error from frames' accumulation. This paper illustrates the camera pose tracking algorithm and the experiment results, as well as a virtual residential area planning system based on the augmented reality, which is completed by using ARDK.

A theoretical model was adapted to evaluate the impact of power coastdown on the water chemistry of a commercial boiling water reactor (BWR) in this work. In principle, the power density of a nuclear reactor upon a power level decrease would immediately be lowered, followed by water chemistry variations due to reduced radiolysis of water and extended coolant residence times in the core and near-core regions. It is currently a common practice for a commercial BWR to adopt hydrogen water chemistry (HWC) for corrosion mitigation. The optimal feedwater hydrogen concentration may be different after a power coastdown is implemented in a BWR. A computer code DEMACE was used in the current study to investigate the impact of various power coastdown levels on major radiolytic species concentrations and electrochemical corrosion potential (ECP) behavior of components in the primary coolant circuit of a domestic reactor operating under either normal water chemistry or HWC. Our analyses indicated that under a rated core flow rate the chemical species concentrations and the ECP did not vary monotonously with decreases in reactor power level at a fixed feedwater hydrogen concentration. In particular, ECP variations basically followed the patterns of hydrogen peroxide in the select regions and exhibited high values at power level of 95% for Reactor X.

Creating believable relief by hand is inherently expensive, requiring both proprietary tools and trained designers, which hampers rapid scenario generation and limits reuse. Our approach constructs large-scale natural terrains at run-time, without the need for designers or proprietary tools. In this way developers can use the system to quickly and cheaply build large-scale natural environment in response to the needs of the specific usage scenario, such as geographic information system (GIS) data analysis, scientific visualization, or to improve mission as well as training effectiveness. We have provided prototype which can be easily linked to a GIS for data analysis and visualization. This paper describes experiences and outcomes of designing three-dimensional terrain environment using Java3D technology. It also briefly touches upon level-of-detail and navigation techniques.

H.264/AVC (Advanced Video Codec) is a new video coding standard developed by a joint effort of the ITU-TVCEG and ISO/IEC MPEG. This standard provides higher coding efficiency relative to former standards at the expense of higher computational requirements. Implementing the H.264 video encoder for an embedded System-on-Chip (SoC) is a big challenge. For an efficient implementation, we motivate the use of multiprocessor platforms for the execution of a parallel model of the encoder. In this paper, we propose a high-level independent target-architecture parallelization methodology for the development of an optimized parallel model of a H.264/AVC encoder. This methodology is used independently of the architectural issues of any target platform. It is based on the exploration of the task and data levels forms of parallelism simultaneously, and the use of the parallel Kahn Process Network (KPN) model of computation and the YAPI programming C++ runtime library. The encoding performances of the obtained parallel model have been evaluated by system-level simulations targeting multiple multiprocessors platforms.

As Cognitive Radio Network (CRN) emerges as an extremely promising next generation wireless technology that can ease the apparent spectrum scarcity and support novel wireless applications; they will become bigger targets for hackers. Moreover, they will also be exposed to diverse security threats especially at the physical layer (PHY) spectrum sensing module. Hence, security consideration is central in its development. Starting with overview of on-going research efforts in CR-based network security, this paper describes a PHY attacker model that exploits the adaptability and flexibility of CRN. In thwarting this attack, we propose a waveform pattern recognition scheme to identify emitters and detect camouflaging attackers by using the Electromagnetic Signature (EMS) of the transceiver. On the performance of the technique, our simulation results show that our approach is effective for spectrum monitoring, mitigating denial-of-service threats and facilitating spectral efficiency.

An available high quality and real-time rendering method was presented by applying various shading to the objects like a character that configuring contents in virtual environment, thanks to the development of 3D rendering technology. Based on the coloration for 3D emotional rendering, at the same time, many kind of shaders that occurring effects of chrome, glass, bump for reality, were proposed. The proposed emotional rendering system provides the 3D virtual contents with which an easy, fast contents making, and various set up, optimal end products making are possible. It would present the way and direction of emotional rendering to provide various contents making in virtual environment.

Being a harmful component, systematic error should always be eliminated and compensated during the procedure of surveying data processing. With further development in science and technology of surveying and mapping, some researchers extract systematic error by penalized least squares method when such systematic error is not random variable, therefore gain more understanding of systematic error to satisfy the need of high precise surveying. While the systematic error is random variable, as in the paper, we consider the semi-parametric regression model by using the penalized least squares method and get estimators of parameter and non-parameter. Then, the choices of regular matrix R and smoothing parameter a are discussed. Based on research of solving method of the smoothing parameter, a new method of function Xu (a) is proposed. By using the penalized least squares method, we study the height fitting in global positioning system, with results showing that penalized least squares is superior to conventional method in GPS height fitting.

The use of formal methods has long been advocated in the development of secure systems. Yet, methods for deriving design from requirements that guarantee retention of the intended security properties remain largely unrealized on a repeatable and consistent basis. We present the FADES (Formal Analysis and Design approach for Engineering Security) that integrates KAOS (Knowledge Acquisition in automated Specifications) with the B specification language to derive security design specifications and further implementation from security requirements. We demonstrate the capability of the approach to handle changes to security requirements by introducing corrective changes to the security requirements of a case study, the spy network system. The objective is to bridge the gap between formal requirements and design for security requirements. Our initial results show promise with FADES in preserving security properties and detecting security vulnerabilities early during requirements. Encouraged by these, we are more quantitatively assessing the FADES capabilities.
