We study multi-robot routing problems (MR-LDR) where a team of robots has to visit a set of given targets with linear decreasing rewards over time, such as required for the delivery of goods to rescue sites after disasters. The objective of MR-LDR is to find an assignment of targets to robots and a path for each robot that maximizes the surplus, which is defined to be the total reward collected by the team minus its total travel cost. We develop a mixed integer program that solves MR-LDR optimally with a flow-type formulation and can be solved faster than the standard TSP-type formulations but also show that solving MR-LDR optimally is NP-hard. We then develop an auction-based algorithm and demonstrate that it solves MR-LDR in seconds and with a surplus that is comparable to the surplus found by the mixed integer program with a 12 hour time limit.

Water content in crude oil is a very important data in oilfield production logging system. It is also an indispensable parameter for the research of its development prospect. During the process of exploitation, storage and transportation of oilfield, high accuracy measuring of water content in crude oil can optimize production parameters and improve oil recovery rate. The GRNN (general regression neural network) has high advantages in approximation ability, classification capacity and learning speed. This paper measured some parameters which have effect on the measurement of the water content of crude oil using the multi-sensor technology and processed these parameters using the K-means clustering, and then proposed a prediction model for water content in crude oil based on GRNN. The result of the simulation in MATLAB shows that the prediction model proposed in this paper has several advantages such as stable prediction result and small error and so on.

Public sentiment reflects the people's attitude to society and politics. Through a large amount of observation, we found that the trends of the development of many typical Web public sentiments can be divided into three phases: relatively stable phase, rapidly increased phase and rapidly declined phase. The correct phase detection and prediction win precious time for relevant department to formulate corresponding policies to deal with the situation, and for mainstream media to steer the public sentiment. In this paper we present a complete approach for automated phase detection and prediction of Web public sentiment. The main idea of this paper is first to apply a dynamic social network to model Web public sentiment, and then use some combined approach to predict several important parameters of the built social network, and finally detect the phase of Web public sentiment through smooth the predicted curve and the voting method. The experimental result shows that the approach is qualitatively quite useful when used to analyze, monitor and even steer the information on the internet.

This paper presents the research and development for implementing the blind guiding electronic cane, which used with the special ceramic tiles instead of the rubber tactile tiles. These special tiles were produced from ceramic waste sludge from wastewater treatment plant which contains heavy metals. According to the result of ldquoA Study of Possibility to Use A Ceramic Tile Composed of Waste Sludge as Pathway for The Blindrdquo which the output data from Hall effect sensor has been analyzed, it indicates that these ceramic tiles can be used as the smooth pathway for the blind. However there are some limitations: namely, the distance between the sensor and the tile is in short range which unsuitable for actual use, in addition the sensor should have an impact guard to protect itself against the damage due to the collision when the cane strikes the tile. We found that the suitable material for the impact guard is a bar of plaster mixed together with magnetic material such as iron filings which has high magnetic permeability. By the experimental result, we found that it can extend the distance between the sensor and the tile to become longer without decreasing the capability of the sensor to detect the tile. Finally the bar of protection material in various thicknesses and various proportions of iron filings and plaster was applied to the experiment and we found that the 3.0 mm-thick bar with 75% iron filings -25% plaster mixture, is one of the most suitable to use as the sensor protection.

Component frameworks provide one strategy for the development and deployment of complex multiphysics applications which are increasingly developed by collaborative, distributed, and diverse teams, and are deployed across multiple supercomputer architectures located at numerous sites. One longstanding issue is the management of components. The complexity involved in choosing, locating, compiling, verifying, and deploying codes consisting of hundreds of independent modules can be overwhelming for beginners, and is a huge burden on developers and users. In the case of Cactus, framework-specific tools have been developed to address some of these issues, but it still suffers from being somewhat ad-hoc, difficult to maintain, and lacking in capabilities. This paper describes a dynamic framework for deploying applications that we are developing, called Ubiqis, which works automatically and on-demand. It is decentralized, requires no per-application configuration by administrative staff, and can work recursively to resolve dependencies.

It is generally assumed that the variability of neuronal firing pattern has an important effect on the connectivity of the nervous system, but this effect has not been thoroughly investigated. This challenging research area involves a tight cooperation of neuroscience, computer science, and biomedical engineering among others. In order to share our data and methods with the other experimenters and analysts, we have designed and implemented a database (http://***/neuro_db/) including over 6000 GB data recorded from cultured neuronal networks on multi-electrode array. Most of these data were spontaneous activities of 50 cultures during development. The database presented here provides a crucial tool to explore neural development and neural coding, thus enables neuroscientists to share and manage data with greater efficiency.

Through the recent process of urban development, characterized by urban expansion and redevelopment, industrialized countries have witnessed a surge in the number, scale and complexity of urban structures. However, it has become difficult to keep urban space adaptable to environmental realities and our cities don't completely meet the demands of society. These demands include the sustainable upgrading of social infrastructure and the regeneration of attractive urban space that is not only safe and highly efficient, but also consciously takes into account psychological influence. In this research ?oppressive? refers to cityscape featuring high-rise buildings that cause negative psychological pressure on residents. Oppression is a barrier to achieving sustainable urban development and current research is a step towards addressing this barrier. This paper tries to bring the research of oppression to the international scientific society to present parts of years of Japanese research in this field. Through various methodologies researchers have proved that cities have oppressive and depressive affects on residents but the influencing factors are not completely measured. This research discusses the key parameters of psychological health by assessing the impact of trees effect on real urban oppressive environment. This paper also compares the largeness and quality of trees' affect against other physical factors in the city environment. Two experiments were conducted, one in the real Tokyo urban environment - as a mega city and the other utilizing 3-dimensional computer software to simulate the real urban environment in an experiment room. Totally, 60 participants from the field of architecture looked at specific images and responded by filling in a pre-designed questionnaire. Results indicate that oppression which increases as building's solid angle increases is significantly influenced by the existence of trees and the sky factor. With the highly rapid increase of information, due to the development of massive application system, more and more people have an urgent need for a simple and rapid technology to integrate data which are stored in various data sources. The integration of heterogeneous data sources has become a central problem of modern computing. According to analyzing and researching general methodologies for heterogeneous data integration, a framework for heterogeneous data integration is outlined. The framework based on XML, which are becoming the foundation of electronic publishing, business and application development, is divided into three main categories-XML schema integration phase, querying phase and result integration. XML schema integration phase can generate a global XML schema, which is a view of various data sources, by integrating automatically local XML schema which is generate by local XQuery input by user. Querying phase queries on the view of global XML schema, and query result is displayed by result integration after solving the data conflict.
