This paper describes e-training in mechatronics developed for the education of adults. The training was developed as one of Leonardo da Vinci life long learning programs within the MeRLab project (Innovative Remote Laboratory in the E-training of Mechatronics). The primary target group for the training are employed and unemployed engineers and the technicians who have already completed their formal education in some of the engineering fields, but are not acquainted with mechatronics. For the training special e-learning system was built in the user friendly environment based on eCampus and Moodle platforms. The complete materials with animations, graphical presentations, online tests and the utilities like discussion forums are offered. In addition to e-learning materials with the theory also remote laboratory experiments are available. Those experiments enable the user to acquire some practical knowledge and obtain some skills. The training comprehends four major topics: Introduction to Mechatronics, Servomotor in Mechatronics, Electrical Circuits and Mechatronic Devices. Pilot testing of the training was executed February-March 2009. From 70 registered participants 62 have successfully finished the training.

In HPC domain, a majority of applications build on MPI and employ collective operations in their communication kernels. Improving the performance of collectives has been long term focused by a lot of work. Recently, in the optimization work of collectives on multi-core clusters, hierarchical algorithm designs are remark-able. This kind of algorithms can greatly reduce the inter-node traffic but increase the intra-node traffic load at the same time. Meanwhile, in hierarchical collectives, the part of intra-node collectives take more and more time while the number of cores in each node keeps growing. Improving the performance of intra-node collectives is critical to the holistic performance. However, on multi-cores, the factor of process affinity greatly impacts the performance of an intra-node collective. This peculiarity challenges us how to improve the overall performance of intra-node collectives. Towards this problem, in this paper, we propose a novel and systemic strategy for tuning the performance of intra-node collectives. As illustrative examples, we have implemented our strategy on a dual-socket Intel Clovertown platform and successfully tuned the performance of Broadcast and Allgather up to 14% and 52% improvement together.

This paper emphasises the importance of global teams in the field of software development. The paper presents an approach for setting up pilot studies simulating those key features that make global software development teams particularly attractive to exploit and challenging to manage. The underlying research is supported by a research project funded by the US National Science Foundation with the participation of universities from US, Turkey, Panama and the UK. The paper provides detailed guidelines for setting up simulations resembling globally dispersed software development teams and discusses preliminary data of two pilot studies with involving collaboration between teams residing in the US and the UK. Key concerns of this research are those factors affecting collaborative work when global teams are involved. Such factors include differences caused by distance, culture, time zones and technology.

Communication architecture for substation automation is one of the challenging and subtle tasks to address in order to visualize the substation into digital world under the umbrella of IEC61850. Communication paradigm for substation automation demands critical importance because of two reasons; as communication arena is changing day by day so it is convenient to opt for something that is simple to deploy and incur a less cost in terms of time and asset when migration is to be considered since data-intensive applications drive the incremental demand for bandwidth as per growing need with the expansion of concerned network and last but not least the interoperability as it is one of the core constrained put by IEC61850 for substation automation. So it is viable to consider Ethernet as the most promising solution for the communication architecture of substation automation as Ethernet technology has changed the trend of communication network because of its availability, efficiency, and cost effectiveness on the other hand interoperability is assured based on the proven and highly deployed industrial Ethernet. This paper presents analysis and the crucial need for the deployment of Gigabit Ethernet in the substation and also presents how Ethernet technology can help in the substation automation as a long run solution in the changing arena of communication as Ethernet is one of the most pervasive communication technologies. In the end we have performed simulations in NS-2 to prove that our suggested communication paradigm is optimal in various regards by keeping into consideration the constraints imposed by IEC61850.

The advance of wireless networking, communication, and mobile technology is making a big impact to daily life. Mobile devices, such as cell phones, and PDAs are becoming more popular each day. The large number of mobile users along with the ubiquitous nature of mobile devices has created a huge market for mobile applications and is caused a strong demand on secured and reliable mobile applications. Power and memory limitations of current mobile handsets make the design and development of such services complex. To cause of road development and increase number of vehicles, road traffic control is very difficult by police, so using of the new method for registrations and infractions control, seems unavoidable. Mobile device could be used by police for driving infractions *** proposed protocol not only satisfies the convenience and ease of use that is generally required for mobile users, it also provides the transaction security in high level, so that this protocol has special regard to security factors and prepare short time period for changing Key, any transaction have any Key, Keys donpsilat distribute on network and so on. This protocol is suitable for actual needs both in speed and security, and it is clear that the framework can be extended to the other mobile information systems, such as m-commerce. The aim of our work is to develop a protocol for GSM service, which provides an end-to-end secure in a fast communication between the Traffic Police Data Center (TPDC) and its mobile officer.

Fluent patient information flow is a prerequisite for clinical decision making. Our purpose is to identify unmet information needs in the flow of Finnish intensive care narratives in order to focus the development of natural language processing methods for this domain. Our data set consists of 516 authentic electronic patient records. First, we assess statistically the amount of narratives. We find that the amount is substantial: elective admission type and high nursing intensity contribute this. Second, we perform a content analysis. We observe that notes relevant for a given topic are scattered over the narratives, headings are inconsistent, and the flow from earlier narratives is fragmented. Consequently, support for gaining topical overviews is needed. Meeting this clinical need holds the promise of making narratives better accessible throughout a patient's stay and thereby improving clinical decision making and outcomes of care.

During the past few years, a lot of effort has been invested in research and development of eHealth tele-monitoring systems that will provide many benefits for healthcare delivery from the healthcare provider to the patient's home. However, there is a plethora of security requirements in eHealth tele-monitoring systems. Data integrity of the transferred medical data is one of the most important security requirements that should be satisfied in these systems, since medical information is extremely sensitive information, and even sometimes life threatening information. In this paper, we present a data integrity mechanism for eHealth tele-monitoring system that operates in a smart home environment. Agent technology is applied to achieve data integrity with the use of cryptographic smart cards. Furthermore, the overall security infrastructure and its various components are described.

Service-oriented computing (SOC) is the computing paradigm that utilizes services as fundamental elements for developing applications. The modeling and analysis of services-oriented software requirements is one of important study contents in SOC. Owing to frequent changes of individual or collective requirements, continuous evolution of system function and structure, the study object of services-oriented requirement complete analysis is relative completeness of services requirements but not absolute completeness. Our study focuses this key problem of services-oriented software engineering. First of all, domain knowledge and software reuse technology are combined to present a framework of services-oriented requirement components modeling; then, constructing and optimizing the requirement components directed graph to automatically realize completeness analysis for service requirements; lastly, the concepts of expected requirements and excited requirements are introduced into our study for quantitatively evaluating the completeness results. The study productions provide theoretical foundation and tool support for modeling in semantic level and analyzing of services-oriented software requirements automatically, simultaneity it will adapt to the new challenges of software on network environments development mode and improve the agreement degree of stakeholders by a large margin.

Inter-firm knowledge sharing within industrial cluster causes the formation, development and evolution of industrial cluster. This paper analyzes the evolution of industrial cluster by means of evolutionary game theory from the perspective of knowledge sharing. It argues that enterprises in the industrial cluster should learn more, enlarge knowledge stores and enhance the capability of knowledge assimilation. In the mean time, government departments concerned and intermediaries should create a favorable environment for the inter-firm knowledge sharing within industrial cluster and arouse enterprises' initiatives.

Interface is important for software modules, e.g., classes, components and services. Most current description approaches focus only on each method signatures of the target interface, while constraint on interface, e.g. temporal sequence of the invocation is less considered so far. This paper proposes an intuitive approach for specifying interface constraint, especially the temporal constraints on different methods of the interface. As a directed graph, the proposed approach is intuitive and powerful. Notations of relationships are introduced, followed by some examples. One algorithm that can translate the high level intuitive graph to low level FSA is presented.
