We developed a rack-type local air-conditioner, focusing on the elimination of hot spots to reduce the energy consumption of data center air-conditioning. In doing so, we also regarded increasing the operating efficiency of the air-conditioner itself as an important problem. We therefore took up the challenge of developing energy saving techniques that optimize computer room air-conditioner as well as adopting a structure and control technology for more efficient local cooling. In this paper, we introduce those energy-saving techniques for a rack-type air-conditioner. Trial calculations of the air-conditioning method used together with this rack-type air-conditioner confirmed that a 43% reduction in the energy used for air-conditioning relative to the ordinary VUF (vertical under floor) method is possible..

The multi-autonomic objects flexible workflow is a flexible workflow with Autonomic Objects (AO) embedded in workflow activities, AO can improve the intelligence of flexible workflow by using of autonomic computing technology. In order to benefit the autonomic computing of AO, a knowledge acquisition approach based on rough set is proposed to acquire knowledge in flexible workflow instance. The AO and multi-autonomic objects flexible is introduced at first, then the AO knowledge acquisition architecture is designed and application of rough set is investigated, and a AO inference learning approach based on rough set is studied further to improve the known knowledge, finally the knowledge acquisition approach in demonstrated in a multi-autonomic objects flexible workflow and the results shows that this approach can acquire knowledge satisfactorily.

The emergence of, and advancement in, integrated digital circuitry technology along with the development of efficient software algorithms made it possible to build small, lightweight wireless nodes equipped with embedded processors, sensors and radio transceivers. By densely deploying these nodes, in a highly distributed manner, we can build a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). In this network, sensors collaborate in monitoring physical parameters or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration, etc. Sensor nodes frequently report the data they capture to a central collection unit that analyses the data and takes appropriate actions if needed. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs) emerged as a potential candidate for benefiting from the unique features and capabilities of WSNs. In ITSs, transportation infrastructure is supported with the ingenious achievements of computer and information technology to resolve severe situations like traffic congestion and cope with emergency conditions like major accidents. In this paper, we study the requirements for an efficient WSN architecture for ITSs, survey the WSN architectures proposed for this type of applications highlighting their strengths and weaknesses, and shed light on future directions in this field of research.

Summary form only given. We summarize our ongoing integrated program to represent and reason about very large co-evolving social, technological, information and organization (STIO) networks. The program comprises of four basic elements: (i) a mathematical and computational theory of co-evolving STIO networks, (ii) methods for integrating diverse data sources to generate synthetic representations of STIO networks, (iii) high performance computing oriented models for simulating the dynamical phenomenon of interest on these networks, and (iv) an integrated high performance oriented pervasive cyber-environment that provides analysts and decision makers a Web-based environment that provides seamless access to the models and synthetic networks for policy planning and response. We will illustrate some of these ideas by discussing the development of information-support environments for supporting the study of epidemics in social as well as wireless networks.

Web-business platforms offer business capabilities as enterprise services hosted in a multi-tenant cloud environment. Often there is a need to create heavyweight variants of these enterprise services to support: inherent variability in the underlying business process, industry-specific requirements, globalization concerns and customer-specific requirements. These variability concerns affect both the service interface and the service provider implementation and hence are crosscutting in nature. In this paper, we use principles of aspect-oriented software development to modularize these variability concerns. We also provide an aspect specification scheme to specify these concerns. We propose an approach to create heavyweight service variants centered on a service kernel, which forms a common service core across tenants. Heavyweight service variants are created by weaving aspects into the service kernel. Our approach provides improved governance for the provider while offering maximum flexibility for the consumers.

This paper gives a new design for Ethernet/IP intelligent communication modules (EIICM). The new EIICM module not only acts as the network communication module for the PLCs to facilitate the communications between the PLCs and the remote network devices, but also it acts as the CPU of the built-in operation switch to perform the network topology monitoring and maintenance, IGMP snooping, and switch managing and diagnosing. Furthermore, it acts as an Ethernet/IP and MB/TCP end device to provide implicit and explicit messaging services. In this paper, it focuses on the overall architecture, the functional design and some key techniques of new solution in EIICCM, such as ¿structured message broker¿ pattern, ¿management-self adaptable¿ pattern, and device management method. Digital transmitter was developed on FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) in order to meet the needs for simple, low-power and low-cost wireless communication such as Zigbee. Zigbee operates primarily in the 2.4 GHz band, which makes the technology easily applicable and worldwide available. However, this paper only covers the bit-to-symbol block and the symbol-to-chip block of the digital transmitter for an acknowledgment frame. These two blocks are combined together as bit-to-chip block before implemented on Spartan3E XC3S500E FPGA. The purpose of the research is to diversify the design methods by using the Verilog code entry through Xilinx ISE 8.2i. Here, the simulation and measurement results are also presented to verify the functionality of the combined block. The frequency for input data and output data are 250 kHz and 2 MHz respectively.

development of techniques for assisting to discover useful biomarkers for disease diagnosis is a crucial issue in the field of Biometrics as well as clinical area. In this paper, we propose a novel method that searches for informative gene sets (called modules) for discriminating between different but similar two disease classes in DNA microarray data. This method enables us to identify discriminatory modules that are not only differential between the classes but also specific within respective classes. The proposed method is applied to a dataset obtained from peripheral bloods of individuals with chronic loneliness, and the biological functions of the extracted discriminative modules are evaluated by the functional enrichment analysis. As a result, we show that the proposed method can identify not only biologically meaningful genes as suggested by earlier studies but also novel findings not shown so far.
