This paper highlights engineering accomplishments from 1942 to present, in the Los Angeles area, starting from the San Fernando Valley, one of the major bases in the defense industry, to as far reaching as San Diego. Historical advancements in microwave, space programs, computer and communications have opened up collaborations toward green and smart energy, and complex software. Leading technology change and entrepreneurship development under economic pressure have been reflected in these events. Trends and milestones are revealed through collective efforts of many outstanding individuals in the greater Los Angeles area.

Web service is expected to be the key technology of implementing SOA solution on the ***,as web services proliferate,it is more and more difficult to find suitable services and further compose them into complex applications *** this paper,a novel service infrastructure named Service Network （SN）,which is constructed on the basis of service relations,is proposed to bridge the gap between service consumer and service *** the idea of social network and technology of semantic web,the paper focuses on studying the main characters of SN,including the detail structure,the definitions of service ontology and service relations,the functions from different perspectives,the constructing approach of service mining,especially the process of how service relations facilitate service discovery and service composition.

With the development of domestic economy and international trade, the containerization is playing an important role in the industries. Its function is extended from the transport unit and storage devices. The container process is becoming a critical aspect of business process flow. By the modern information technologies, it is possible to visualize the container process flow for the business management and control. This paper studies the modeling and visualization issue of it and proposes the spatial location model considering the time and space dimensionalities in container processes. Finally, a decision support framework is proposed to incorporate the various visualization technologies. The study will help to build management and control system for container process flow as a concrete framework of solution.

This paper describes a web-based platform for nanoscale non-classical device modeling and circuit simulation, especially for non-classical CMOS device compact modeling and circuit performance prediction. This platform is based on program libraries, including model code files. We use SPICE as circuit simulation framework, and the Verilog-A as model design language. Based on the user input deck content, running embedding device and circuit programs, the platform produces several types of device characteristics output such as data texts and graphs on the web page for analysis, according to the simulation results and users' requests. Some nanoscale device modeling examples and the circuit simulation cases are demonstrated by the means of the platform configures and function application. It is shown that not only does this kind of platform address problems arising from the dependence on computer operating system of modeling and simulation software, the complexity of software and program update, but also helps researchers focus on their research on device physics and circuit design, display their research results and share latest research achievements or new technology online, which will accelerate the development of device modeling and circuit design technology in turn.

In this paper, we present a Natural Modeling Framework for Processor Design Automation System, Trilobite. Unlike other systems solicite explicit pipeline and instruction definitions to direct them, Trilobite gives the designer the freedom to model the processor in the high-level Behavior Accurate Processor Description (BAPD), which is based on the basic building block Mem and PDSDL (Python based Dynamic System Description Language). Given the BAPD, software development and hardware synthesis can be performed simultaneously with four verification stages varying in accuracy and speed. Various translators and optimizers are introduced to convert BAPD to PDSDL, finally to Hardware Description Language (HDL). This powerful toolset could build diverse circuits ranging from simple combinational and sequential circuit to advanced pipelined superscalar. Compared to the determinate modeling inside traditional ADL, Trilobite is powerful and flexible. The preliminary result of our Java Processor System based on Trilobite is given at the end. It proves to be effective and productive.

Automatically classifying ECG recordings for malignant ventricular arrhythmia is fraught with several difficulties. Even normal ECG signals exhibit only quasi-periodic nature, and contain various irregularities. The key to more accurate detection is the use of position, and amount of local singularities in the *** this paper, we propose a Holder-SVM detection algorithm using a novel hybrid arrangement of binary and multiclass SVMs designed to take care of class imbalance rampant in biomedical signals. As a result, we significantly reduce the number of false negatives - patients falsely classified as normal. We used the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia database for even different arrhythmias. We compare our hybrid SVM with a suitable conventional SVM, and show better *** also use the new arrangement for features proposed earlier, and demonstrate the gain in accuracy. Our concept of hybrid SVM is applicable to a wide variety of multiclass classification problems.

In this study, we discuss how to provide low-delay peer-to-peer streaming with high video quality by considering mesh design with backup parents. To achieve robustness against peer churns, each peer has a certain number of streaming parents and backup parents. We have designed a distributed algorithm that constructed a low-delay mesh and at the same time achieved a certain stream continuity for the peers. We have conducted extensive simulations to study the performance of our algorithms. The results show that our distributed algorithm achieves a lower source-to-peer delay as compared with a traditional scheme. Our results have shown that peer-to-peer live streaming can be delivered in short delays while providing a high level of quality, despite peer churns and the lack of a centralized planner.

This paper focuses on an extensible framework for the development of parallel/distributed population-based algorithms. This framework uses mobile agents launched into different hosts on available networked PCs and cooperating among them to solve large combinatorial problems efficiently. The execution environment used to realize our framework is based on the JADE technology. In addition, we define a new information exchange strategy based on a dynamic migration window method and a selective migration model. A parameters adaptation model is also proposed. This model is used to adjust different parameters/operators of the genetic algorithm executed by each mobile agent. The proposed framework has been experimented on an extended set of Earliness and Tardiness Production Scheduling and Planning Problem (ETPSP). Several experiments are carried out on different computer networks of different sizes. Results obtained show the advantages and efficiency of our approach.
