This paper addresses a novel coarse grain dynamic reconfigurable computing system, called DReAC-2, design and hardware implement. A whole DReAC-2 system integrates a Nios II processor, which manages the whole reconfigurable system, and a dynamic reconfigurable coprocessor, which comprises of an 8x8 processing node array designed for high regularity, high computation-intensive tasks. Hardware prototype of DReAC-2 has been implemented on the ALTERA STRATIX II EP2S180 development board. According to task's nature, MIMD computing array can select either parallel-pipelined pattern or array-parallel pattern to gain the better performance. The experiment results show that DReAC-2 achieves much higher 10~100x factor than NIOS II processors, and 2x~4x factors and higher precision than some others reconfigurable processors.

Classification algorithm has always been a hot issue in data mining. Decision tree algorithm is the most active part in this area, but it is a NP problem to construct the optimization decision tree. With the development of the information collection technology, the requirements of the mass data mining have become increasingly higher. When dealing with large, continuous, even with the noise and abnormal data, the traditional decision tree algorithm seems very incompetent, encountering the efficiency of the bottleneck and classification error. In this paper, there exist the shortcomings for the decision tree algorithm to deal with multi-attribute data sources. The multivariate statistical methods is proposed to make the principal component analysis on multi-attribute data, reducing dimensionality, devoicing processing and transforming the traditional decision tree algorithm to form a new algorithm model. Comparing with the traditional decision tree algorithm, the experimental results show that this method can not only simplify the decision tree model, but also can improve prediction accuracy of the decision tree.

This paper describes the development of laser stripe sensor for automatic 3D Curve detection for Shoe Sole Spraying. It also presents the implementation of a new apparatus for adhesive spray of the shoe upper. Laser stripe sensor which is used to obtain profile of shoe sole upper plays an important part in the production of leather shoes. The sensor consists of a CCD camera and a stripe-type laser diode due to high speed requirement. In on-line program system, a method based on computer vision with structured light including in: median filtering, bi-level thresholding, opening and closing, mid-line of the laser stripe extraction, has been developed. The 3D scan curves and closed contour line could be interpolated as B-spline curves. Finally, the experiments results illustrate its feasibility and effectiveness.

Today's electronic systems are based on an assembly of components onto rigid or flexible substrates, serving perfectly the needs of traditional product fields like automotive, computing or industry electronics. On the other hand, many of the demands from emerging applications like wearable and textile electronics cannot be met if standard technologies are used for their realization. These new fields have therefore become mayor drivers for the development of novel technologies. Among these `stretchable electronics' have attracted strong attention. Especially for textile applications the potential of electronic systems to comply with the body shape and movement will improve the user comfort dramatically. A manufacturing technology for the realization of stretchable systems by common printed circuit board techniques, based on polyurethane as a stretchable matrix material has been developed. The stretchable circuit board technology has been used to realize a number of textile applications. As an example the realization of a fashion dress with integrated high brightness LEDs and movement sensing will be described.

Heterogeneous data integration plays an important role in the information management system (IMS). Traditional IMS have low integration degree and are difficult to adapt to dynamic changes of databases flexibly. In this paper, we propose a grid service framework for heterogeneous data integration. This framework consists of three layers, including data service layer, data integration layer and data display layer. The data integration layer is the core of the whole framework. An IMS is implemented according to the proposed framework, and massive data are used for the system implementation to verify the correctness of results practically. System performance evaluations are reported to establish the superiority of the grid technique in terms of the round-trip time and the CPU occupancy.

The company's quality goals would be achieved by the successful implementation of statistical process control (SPC) techniques. SPC techniques are simple statistical techniques to help identify process problems and it can be implemented as simple as analyzing data and plotting charts. This paper highlights the results of an effort to design the SPC computer-based system for conducting simple statistical *** system named as SMEs-SPC (small and medium enterprises - statistical process control), which is able to offer more benefits to the Malaysian SMEs. The preliminary study involved interviews with company representatives, as well as observations on their environment. This paper is a continuation of our previous study which focused on issues concerning design and development of online SMEs-SPC system. This paper has offered some suggestions for developing the SMEs-SPC system, for example, enables users little statistical training to perform simple statistical analysis, users at all levels will be able to access data at flexible times; reduce time to input and retrieval historical data, prevent errors in calculation, trigger out-of-control data automatically and avoid late information on out-of-control event in production. The value of this study should be particularly useful to SME manufacturing firms that are contemplating the adoption of advance manufacturing technology.

In this work, we present a novel algorithm for face recognition named statistical Local Binary Patterns (sLBP) . This is a further development of original Local Binary Pattern algorithm. Our method is applied for face recognition under visual light environment dealing with dramatically illumination varying on faces. After a statistical analysis on the distribution probability of the gray-level difference values between neighbor pixels, a mapping function is proposed to encode a wide range of these values into three binary bits. Three extension LBP layers are then generated Finally the uniform pattern histograms of all these layers in every divided region are concatenated as an enhanced local feature vector of the face image. Experimental results on FERET face database show considerable effectiveness and robustness of our proposed method.

A new class of helical THz vacuum electron devices is under development using unconventional applications of microfabrication technology, modern computer modeling, and novel materials. The resulting slow wave circuits consist of a coil of gold wire, smaller in outside diameter than a human hair, supported by a thin diamond sheet and suspended within a diamond box. This configuration will extend the operating range of the helical slow wave circuit into the THz frequency band. Previously, the advantages of the wide bandwidth and high efficiency of the helical slow wave circuit have been available only for operation at frequencies below 50 or 60 GHz because of the difficulty of winding small coils of wire and because it is impossible to transmit a significant beam current through the small aperture offered by the center of the helix. These obstacles are overcome by fabricating the helices lithographically and by passing the electron beam around the outside of the helix. The design and fabrication of a 650 GHz backward wave oscillator (BWO) will be described as well as proposed applications of this technology to traveling wave tubes (TWTs) operating at frequencies as high as 1.0 THz. A THz amplifier, possibly with multioctave bandwidth, would have a wide range of important applications.
