During the last decade, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia, a developing country, funded several projects aiming to make the public healthcare system more efficient through the use of information technology (IT). This system development experience paper presents the first results of our project that develops software support for public ambulatory healthcare facilities, concentrating efforts on improving the work environment of general practice (GP) doctors. While earlier projects in Serbia centered on organizational and financial aspects of healthcare processes, our project focuses on medical aspects and results in a medical information system (MIS) based on a specially developed electronic health record (EHR). We also present a brief overview of our supporting tools for data modeling and application generation, developed for easier realization of MIS. Another goal of the project is to support interoperation and cooperation of ambulatory and clinical MIS within the University Clinical Center of Nis (there is no similar interoperation in any city in Serbia). The main contribution of this system development experience paper is to show how we have been applying and adapting modern MIS concepts in challenging circumstances of a developing country. These experiences could be relevant for other countries with similar challenges.

Virtual surgery is very important for doctors to ensure the success before real surgery. By combining VTK and ITK with MFC, three-dimensional reconstruction of sequence of medical images and virtual cutting system are achieved, and a three-dimensional virtual surgery system is developed. The system offers the function such as 3-D surface rendering, 3-D volume rendering, medical volume data segmentation, virtual surgical cutting, 3-D measurement, virtual surgical planning and so on. The system can help surgeons to observe 3-D models of human organs, parenchyma and the focus of a disease and carry out computer aided surgical.

An integrated simulation and development environment for the digital controlled AC servo system is proposed in this paper, which is based on personal computer to be applied to simulate, optimize and adjust the control code and control parameters of system without any hardware. It's an exploration for improving the digital controlled AC servo system's developing condition. In this paper, the arithmetic of RPN and Runge-Kutta are introduced in detail. And then, the validity and the feasibility of environment are verified by simulation and experimental results. Also, through combining exhaust algorithm with the closed-loop simulation environment, parameter optimization can be implemented. In this paper, proportion coefficient and integral time constant of PID control are optimized and good performance is achieved.

This paper studies and develops multi agent-based on-line monitoring system for MSW incinerator. With the advent of industry facilities toward high speed and automation, the on-line monitoring mechanism becomes important. The traditional time-based maintenance strategy cannot consider all practical conditions of MSW incinerator. The accidental breakdowns may occur unexpectedly. In order to make MSW incineration automatic, an effective way is to ensure MSW incineration facilities running smoothly and to reduce the manpower monitoring. Meanwhile in order to reduce the cost of development and enhance the feature of reuse, we use a communication interface to integrate and interact information among on-line system. Through this system, users may easily monitor the important device of the MSW incinerator through user interfaces, such as display of device status, malfunction alarming, trend chart, etc. A model consisting of domain knowledge and behaviors of cooperative multi-agents to integrate various facilities and functions in different MSW incinerator is proposed. In addition, via a Web-based environment, it releases the restrictions by of temporal and regional isolation. The system provides a real-time and dynamical operation circumstance and can meet the needs of different levels of users. Consequently, it is of great help to lower the cost of personnel and enhance the process stability of MSW incinerator.

Recently, major advances have been made in the area of honeypot technologies. These include the development of very accurate and reliable detection methods for unknown attacks targeted at memory corruption vulnerabilities and the design of efficient network architectures. These architectures allow to monitor a large network of IP addresses applying advanced detection methods for zero-day exploits and new Internet worms. Such an advanced architecture and detection method was developed by the NoAH research project funded by the Sixth EUpsilas Framework Programme for Research and Technological development. A pilot testbed was set up to demonstrate its effectiveness to detect well-known as well as new attacks on the Internet. While the technical components are well-understood, the interpretation and analysis of the resulting information is to the best of our knowledge still not fully explored by research projects. For the NoAH pilot testbed, a critical test to demonstrate its effectiveness arose with the appearance of the *** worm in November 2008. In this paper we present the experimental results of this testbed focusing on the detection and analysis of the *** worm which is still widely spread and an ongoing threat to the Internet. In detail, we introduce the detection process starting with the first suspicion of a new Internet worm towards its analysis and capture of malware.

With the advancement of peer-to-peer technology, media streaming applications become more and more popular in the Internet. However, the traditional development methods for this kind of applications need developers not only to consider the application logic but also to manage the dynamics of Internet resources, thus increasing the difficulty of development and limiting the deployment of personal video distribution applications. In this paper, we design and implement a peer-to-peer streaming system in a much easier way. In this way we can concentrate on the application itself without distraction from the dynamics of Internet resources. Such simplification owes to the Internet-based Virtual Computing Environment (iVCE), which provides programming abstractions and runtime utilities that can encapsulate the complexity of managing transient resources into the platform, thus facilitating the construction of Internet applications. When we build our streaming application based on the iVCE, we only need to define the interaction protocols among distributed nodes with the Owlet programming language. Also, we implement a JavaBean, which can be used by the Owlet program, to assist the transferring and rendering of the content. Our implementation shows that peer-to-peer applications such as media streaming, can be elegantly built using the iVCE platform, and it can serve as a reference implementation for developing similar applications.

Back-light module (BLM) is one of the critical components in TFT-LCD display. It provides homogeneous light source for the display. The utilization of case-based reasoning system (CBRS) in the design process greatly improves the productivity of the design engineers. When designing a new BLM, the engineer would retrieve the existing case with best fit to the customer's specifications. The retrieved design case needs to be adapted to the current specifications if no perfect match is found. The objective of this paper is to develop a case adaptation technology to assist product engineers in developing the new product after retrieval of existing case from CBRS. The first phase of the case-adaption technology development is to search for the most important factors affecting the final product performance. These factors are implemented in the attributes of the case-based reasoning system. The light guide plate is identified as the most critical component in the back-light module system in second phase of the development. This paper developed an empirical formula to assist the design engineers to adapt their design after the first design been measured as off the target specification. In most of the cases, the new suggested design parameters, suggested by the system based on the retrieved reference case and first adapted design developed by engineer, would successfully meet the specifications of customer.

Convenient, rapid, efficient and anonymous characteristic of P2P technology, enables P2P network gathering enormous users very quickly, and P2P traffic has occupied 60~80% bandwidth of Internet. Such giant traffic has formed a threat to the service quality of other Internet application and the security of Internet itself. However, most study about P2P traffic focuses on traffic monitoring and characteristic identifying technique. Rare study analyzes P2P traffic behavior from P2P mechanism itself. This paper construct P2P network queuing model, analyzes the influence of related factors to the load-scale of concrete resource. Main conclusion including, compared with other factors, average degree of node and TTL value is the most key factor to load-scale. Load-scale increases with node quantity, initial number of objected resource and resourcepsilas total quantity, however, when those quantity reach to some critical threshold, the influence of those factors become quite weak to load-scale of resource.
