Jawi is an old version of Malay language writing that need to be preserved. Therefore, it is important to develop tools for teaching kids about Jawi characters and speech-to-text (STT) application can serve this purpose well. Unlike English, Jawi uses special characters similar to Arabic characters. However, its pronunciations are in Malay language. This uniqueness makes STT development a challenging task. In this paper, we investigate the applicability of linear predictive coding to extract important features from voice signal and neural network with backpropagation to classify and recognize spoken words into Jawi characters. A total of 225 samples of words in Jawi characters are recorded from speakers with over 95% accuracy. Jawi characters speech-to-text engine aims to help students to read Jawi document accurately and independently without the need for close monitoring from parents or teachers.

A risk assessment model (RAM) is necessary to avoid the limitations associated with a simplistic and broad classification of applicants into a "good" or "bad" category. The absence of appropriate weights in the current evaluation system triggers the need for the development of the comprehensive model based on proven statistical application. Literature survey undertaken brought to surface 28 parameters that need to be taken into account while evaluating a prospect. These parameters were classified under four heads namely credit, operations, liquidity and market risks. Weights developed in this study were based on a conceptual understanding and the importance attached by people proficient in this area. A questionnaire was developed and a judgmental survey was conducted for this purpose amongst various credit officers extending commercial vehicle and construction equipment financing. The sample size was 117 small and medium corporate *** existing model was able to classify 28 records correctly. So the predictive power of the original/existing model was about 80%. The proposed/new model is able to classify 30 records correctly. So the predictive power of the propose/new model is 85.71%.

In practice,two key problems have been found in genetic algorithm(GA),one is premature convergence and the other is weak local search *** this paper,a new hybrid genetic algorithm based on chaos and particle swarm optimization(PSO) is proposed to solve the two problems *** basic principle is that chaotic search mechanism and PSO mutation are added into the framework of simple genetic algorithm(SGA).By comparing the experimental results from five classic benchmark functions,the proposed genetic algorithm significantly improved both global convergence and convergence precision.

This paper introduces several new developments in the SmartBrick structural health monitoring platform. The system, which has been described in previous papers, provides an extremely low-power, long-term method for remote structural health monitoring. The system is capable of monitoring a diverse range of environmental and structural phenomena, including strain, vibration, tilt, and temperature; and communicating the collected data and any alerts over the GSM cellular infrastructure. The system is completely autonomous and wireless, requiring only its self-contained power and GSM network coverage to operate unattended for five or more years. The emphasis of this paper is on advances made in the third generation of the SmartBrick platform. Highlights include the development of a Web interface that facilitates retrieval and visualization of data and remote maintenance and calibration of the system, and additional enhancements made to support dynamic structural monitoring. The paper also includes a survey of recent wireless SHM systems, and a comparison of these solutions with the SmartBrick platform.

Ontological resources such as controlled vocabularies, taxonomies and ontologies from the OBO foundry are used to represent biomedical domain knowledge. The development of such resources is a time consuming task. Once they are finished they contribute to standardization of information representation, interoperability of IT solutions, literature analysis and knowledge discovery. Text mining comprises IT solutions for information retrieval (IR) and information extraction (IE). IR technology exploits ontological resources to select documents that fit best to the processed query, for example, through indexing of the literature content with concept ids or through disambiguation of terms in the query. IE solutions make use of the ontological labels to identify concepts in the text. The text passages that denote conceptual entries are then used either to annotate named entities or to relate the named entities to each other. For knowledge discovery (KD) solutions the identified concepts in the scientific literature are used to relate entities to each other, e.g. to identify gene-disease relations based on shared molecular functions.

With the development of the information and internet technology, Vendor-Managed-Inventory (VMI) has been adopted by more and more companies. In this paper, a two-echelon supply chain inventory decision model is discussed. The products are perishable and sold over a single selling season. First a VMI model is constructed, and the supply chain members' optimal decisions are gained. Under VMI, the supplier takes charge of all inventory decisions and bears all inventory risk. Now an advance order tactic is introduced, under which the supplier gives the retailer a chance to place an advance order before the selling season. There are two wholesale prices after introducing the advance order tactic, and the retailer's optimal advance order quantities are different under different wholesale prices. The supply chain is coordinated by adjusting two wholesale prices. All our findings are illustrated by a numerical example.

With the development of embedded system and microelectronics technology, the hardware/software co-design methodology of SoC has taken an important role in de-signing of embedded applications. Hardware/software partitioning is one of the most significant part of hard-ware/software co-design of embedded systems. Hard-ware/Software partitioning is essentially multi-objective optimization problem, namely, how to obtain an optimal hardware/software combination based on satisfying system function requirements and constraints. This paper presents an immune algorithm based on the Pareto concept of multi-objective optimization problems. Compared with other algorithm, it can provide an effective tool for measuring the performance of different objective functions, and improve the designing efficiency. In the last, the result was compared with those of using the single-objective optimization on different task graphs. Experimental results show the algorithm can achieve the global optimal solution of the HW/SW partitioning problem based on meet system constraints.

The myoelectric signal has played a major role in the development of prosthesis control technology. A myoelectric classification system has the ability to determine a prosthesis user's intent based solely on his or her muscle activity, thereby allowing for more intuitive prosthetic control. Much work has been done on the recognition of upper arm and gross hand movement tasks, but it was not until accuracy levels approached 100% [3] that more attention was given to specific finger movements. In this study, the effect of electrode array size and arrangement on classification accuracy is investigated for a four-finger typing task. This follows from previous work [1] in which the classification system itself was optimized. Unique advantages were found using array sizes of three and seven electrodes; classification accuracy of 92.7plusmn3.9% was found in the latter case across twelve subjects.

The optimal scheduling of resource and program has became the key to the success of enterprise development *** conventional resource constrained project scheduling problem seeks a solution which satisfies the time and resource constraints on purpose of a minimal construction *** the development of the society,the realistic problems trend to be more and more complicated,and the RCPSP model is thereupon *** paper proposes a new project scheduling model with success rate and it is suitable for large-scale project scheduling problems,then,an improved particle swarm optimization called CPSO based on PSO and GA is used to solve the *** application of solving examples with CPSO demonstrates that this algorithm is effective.

Root is an important plant organ for nutrient and water uptake from the surrounding medium such as soil. Due to its special growing environment and structural complexity, it is more difficult to quantify plant root than its shoot. Observation and measurement of plant root in situ have been the technical bottleneck to understand root systems. Available methods used to observe root system were reviewed firstly in the presentation. And the recent progress in the methods of observation and measurement for 3D architecture of plant root in situ was summed up. Then according to the development of relevant technologies and the requirement of research on root architecture, the prospect of 3D visualization and observation methods for plant root in situ was discussed.
