Data grid depends on a set of widely distributed and un-trusted storage nodes in grid environment. Securing a grid environment presents a distinctive set of challenges. These security challenges must be carefully managed before fully deploying Data grids in sensitive distributed environments. In this paper we propose a cryptographic protocol able to fulfil the storage security requirements for Data grid scenario. The proposed protocol uses three basic mechanisms to accomplish its goal: (a) symmetric cryptography and hashing, (b) an Information Dispersal Algorithm and the novel (c) "Quality of Security" (QoSec) quantitative metric. © 2010 IEEE.

The strong interests of scientific communities in the grid and mobile computing lead to research in mobile grid computing. The main goal of grid computing is to aggregate the power of widely distributed resources which are diverse in nature and provide non-trivial services to users. In a mobile grid environment resources are dynamic and the availability of the resource is for a period of time. Scheduling is the most challenging and primitive issue when considering the mobility of the resources in the mobile grid environment. This paper discusses a novel framework for scheduling tasks in mobile grid environment using mobility based resource prediction. It predicts resource availability based on the movement type of the resource and the priority of the resource is set accordingly. The framework is tested for various set of tasks in immediate mode and experimental results show that mobility plays a vital role in scheduling the tasks in the mobile grid environment. © 2010 IEEE.

grid is collection of heterogeneous resources. The availability and searching the appropriate resources for job execution determine the computing performance of grid. In this paper a model namely 'Decentralized P2P grid Resources Discovery' has been proposed and designed with prototype implementation. This model uses the resources information that is stored in data structure called LC-Trie [1] (Level Compressed Trie). The ring and tree topology has been cross-breaded with combined path and level compression in the proposed model. Proposed model will be evaluated on certain factors like fast retrieval and space complexity etc. © 2010 IEEE.

This paper mainly highlights the technical challenges addressed while deploying an end user specific real time Geospatial collaborative system on the top of GARUDA grid. The grid simulation results has been gathered in a automated mode from the computing clusters of the grid and the results of equal time stamp have been merged by a centralized image processing unit which has been connected to a 'Master Visualization Server'. Operations of the master visualization server gets synchronized with many regional remote 'Proclient' systems and both together manages the real time collaborative events by disseminating the camera display of master scene as well as supporting the virtual visualization of proclient information between and across the grid users locations. The system has been made operational as GARUDA grid Real Time Collaborative System (GG-RT-CS) and same can be implemented on any computational grid which supports regional scale Geospatial applications © 2010 IEEE.

Ensuring quality of services and reducing the blocking probability is one of the important cases in the environment of grid computing. In this paper, we present a deadline aware algorithm to give solution to ensuring the end-to-end QoS and improvement of the efficiency of grid resources. Investigating requests as a group in the start of time slot and trying to accept the highest number of them. Totally can cause to increase the possibility of acceptance of requests and also increase efficiency of grid resources. Deadline aware algorithm reaches us to this goal. Simulations show that the deadline aware algorithm improves efficiency of advance reservation resources in both case. Possibility of acceptance of requests and optimizing resources in short time slot and also in rate of high entrance of requests in each time. © 2010 IEEE.

Resource Discovery and Resource Selection are the crucial tasks in grid scheduling and resource management. The goal of resource discovery and selection is to identify list of authenticated resources that are available in the grid for job submission and to choose the best node. Recently adaptive push-pull method was proposed for information dissemination of information for dynamic web data. In this paper, we extend the ideas of the adaptive push-pull method to grid environment for resource discovery. We also perform a comparison of the adaptive push-pull method with adaptive pull and push resource discovery models. The experiments are performed by varying CPU and RAM weights to investigate the impact of the selection of these weights on resource discovery. From our experiments Adaptive push-pull method outperformed other two models in terms of selecting a unique node for job submission. It is also clear that resource evaluation index increases as the CPU weight increases. © 2010 IEEE.

grid portals are one of the most popular user interfaces to grids. grid portals build upon the familiar Web portal model offer to virtual communities of users a single access point to computational or data resources. P-GRADE is a grid portal solution that allows users to manage the whole life-cycle for executing a parallel application in the grid. The purpose of this article is to introduce the structure of a grid-aware portlet for linear algebra calculations based on the P-GRADE portal. To accomplish this goal, the portlet provides the seamless bridge between the linear algebra calculations and various linear algebra software environments (middlewares, tools, parallel programming techniques, linear algebra libraries) deployed over a grid. The portlet GUI (Graphical User Interface) is lightweight and uses standard web technologies. Moreover, since today smartphone are ubiquitous, we propose to provide an easy and adapted way to monitor the portlet's operation from a mobile device and illustrate its practical use. © 2010 IEEE.

grid provides efficient environment to execute application faster, with desired Quality of Service (QoS) constraints. Performance of grid (mainly time to execute applications) is dependent on the job scheduling strategy used to map applications or the job (collection of atomic tasks) grid resources. grid Scheduling Algorithms (GSA) generates schedule of jobs and the corresponding resource which satisfy requirement of the job for successful execution. Attempts in optimizing the schedule shows use of classical, heuristic and nature based algorithms. For instance Genetic Algorithm (GA), Simulated Annealing (SA), Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) and Neural Network and Fuzzy System (NNFS) prove to be more efficient than classical scheduling algorithms. The performance of grid using discussed GSA requires improvement which will result in comparatively optimized schedule. The scheduling process needs to be more dynamic so as to consider runtime changes in the resource properties (for example CPU time, Memory, etc.) We implement ACO and GA as separate GSA used for the design of our scheduler of our experimental grid. We propose multilevel decision making engine, as special case Two Level Decision Algorithm (TLDA). In the first level decisions we generate initial schedule using Ant Colony Optimization algorithm (ACO). We refine this schedule using Genetic Algorithm (GA). This paper presents the findings of our proposed approach of multilevel decision engine as compared to the performance of GA, ACO each. Results show considerable improvement in execution time than the former approaches for scheduling. © 2010 IEEE.
