The main differences between fuzzy and non-fuzzy simulation approaches are related to the most important attribute of fuzzy approaches and that is modeling uncertain key system parameters (in this study, specifically by fuzzy triangular numbers) with vague data, and therefore obtaining more realistic systematic outputs, whilst utilizing overused non-fuzzy methodologies with the assumption on certainty of gathered data results in enormous computational errors in some cases. In this study, after a short introduction on related efforts in this area, we examine a fuzzy approach for simulating a production line system, which includes three phases: production and manufacturing system analysis, constraint and cost analysis and fuzzy modeling, implementation and simulating with GPSS/H. Since a general view on fuzzy set theory was required, such general concepts in simulating our fuzzy production line are being deliberated after the system analysis phase in an additional section and some references are included for the topics related to our approach. Moreover, by using this fuzzy methodology, optimum solutions in the stable production lines (especially in managerial situations) can be reached as well.

In this paper we investigate the problem of supervised latent modeling for extracting topic hierarchies from data. The supervised part is given in the form of expert information over document-topic correspondence. To exploit the expert information we use a regularization term that penalizes the difference between a predicted and an expert-given model. We hence add the regularization term to the log-likelihood function and use a stochastic EM based algorithm for parameter estimation. The proposed method is used to construct a topic hierarchy over the proceedings of the European conference on Operational Research and helps to automatize the abstract submission system.

The traditional space mapping and surgical planning method for surgery are time-consuming, and the accuracy of positioning is not high. This paper aims to present a practical and fast way for planning. In the session of visual orientation for spatial location, MicronTracker camera and self-calibration template are used for positioning;in the session of tracking and locating for four markers on patient and robot's template, the coordinates of them are extracted automatically;in the session of DICOM medical image processing, the contour of the tumor is extracted automatically, in terms of the seed filling algorithm, contour tracking algorithm and the B-spline fitting function. Coordinates transformation from the image space to the camera space and to the robot space can be completed rapidly and precisely through this method. Experimental results show that the traditional from 25 to 30 minutes planning time for the entire operation can be reduced to 5 minutes;the space mapping accuracy can be improved from the traditional 5mm to 4mm now.
