The capability to detect anomalous states in a network is important for both the smooth operation of the network and the security of the network. Modern networks are often heterogeneous. This raises a new challenge for anomaly detection, as there may be a wide variety of anomalous activities across the heterogeneous components of a network. We often seek a detection system that not only performs accurate anomaly detection but also provides mechanisms for human expert to understand the decision making process inside the system. In this paper, we investigate the application of sparse Bayesian methods for anomaly detection in such scenario. By taking advantage of the sparse Bayesian framework's capability to conduct automatic relevance discovery, we construct a detection system whose decision making is mostly based on a few representative examples from the training set. This provides human interpretability as expert can analyze the representative examples to understand the detection mechanism. Our experiment results show the potential of this approach.

Our identification system for the natural frequency consisted of control computer, D/A-A/D conversion interface boards, motor driver, vibrator and eddy current displacement sensor. The RealTime application interface for Linux was used as the computer OS. First the sensing analog data were converted to the digital data. Then the count values were re-converted to the voltage data by our software. Here we used the enhanced signal compression method using the time stretched pulse signal. In the experiment using the system, the weight of products was confirmed to bear a proportionate relationship to the natural frequency. This indicates that our method is available to identify the natural frequency.

Cloud computing, as a popular technique to support and achieve CSCW, is gaining increasing importance in recent years, where the virtualization becomes the key technique. However, although utilizing virtualization can implement more efficient and flexible resource allocation, it may also come at the cost of increased system complexity and dynamics. In order to effectively adapt to performance fluctuations for ensuring high-performance, a generic approach to predict the performance influences of cloud platforms is highly desirable. To address this request, in this paper, the major factors that affect the performance of cloud and the relevant variation discipline are evaluated and analyzed thoroughly using a series of benchmarks in SEU (Southeast University) Cloud Computing Platform, where not only a general methodology on quantifying the performance influence but also the most important impact factors are proposed. Moreover, we use a real world application, as AMS experiment, to further evaluate the relevant performance.

A forest of regression trees is generated, with each tree using a different randomly chosen subset of data. Then the forest is optimized in two ways. First each tree independently by shifting the split points to the left or to the right to compensate for the fact, that the original split points were set up as being optimal only for the given node and not for the whole tree. Then evolutionary algorithms are used to exchange particular tree subnodes between different trees in the forest. This leads to the best single tree, which although may produce not better results than the forest, but can generate comprehensive logical rules that are very important in some practical applications. The system is currently being applied in the optimization of metallurgical processes.
