With the development of e-science, more and more attention is drawn to the visualization and interoperation of scientific data. Integrating Data Grid technology and Geographical Information System (GIS) offers a well solution to implement e-science applications. Utilizing Data Grid technology could take advantages to share heterogeneous and distributed data sources. GIS provides visualization environment for spatial data and non-spatial data. In this paper we brought forward spatial information grid (SIG) architecture for gas network safety evaluation application. After discussing the key technologies of gas network SIG, such as spatial metadata modeling and spatial metadata searching, one prototype system was designed and then implemented. Through the SIG system, gas network safety evaluation results can be shown to users in an intuitive and convenient way.

Decentralized and unstructured peer-to-peer networks such as Gnutella are attractive for certain applications because they require no centralized directories and no precise control over network topology or data placement. However, the flooding query algorithm used in Gnutella does not scale; each individual query generates a large amount of traffic, hence large systems quickly become overwhelmed by the query. This paper proposes an alternative searching approach to optimize the existing searching methods used in the enhanced iPTF that includes Rendezvous election and peers distribution process, and overlay network construction in order to produce a robust P2P radios automated testing system including PCR two-ways radios especially MotoTRBO¿ testing environment. Load balancing concept is the main consideration applied in this proposed system. All the processes mentioned for the proposed system above basically are to distribute the loads of a rendezvous peer to another newly elected rendezvous in order to form an overlay network and improving the searching performance.

Since a Mobile Ad hoc NETwork(MANET) is a distributed and self-organized network, there could be malicious nodes that intentionally falsify or drop packets. Recently, a number of trust-based secure routing protocols have been proposed for evading those malicious nodes in communication paths. However, two problems still remain. One problem is that trust itself might be falsified and a node might spoof its ID. The other is that most of calculated trusts are not used and expired. In this paper, we propose a scheme to evaluate trust level of communication paths in MANETs using Attribute Certificates (ACs). Using ACs can detect if trust has been falsified, and if a node has spoofed its ID. Moreover, our proposed scheme is able to not only increase security level, but also reduce the number of trust which expire without being used. Simulation results show better packet delivery rate in a path selected by proposed scheme, and improvement of usage rate for calculated trust.

In today's world, most of the means of secure data and code storage and distribution rely on using cryptographic schemes, such as certificates or encryption keys. Cryptography mechanisms form a basis upon which many important features of a solid security system are built. It is an earliest art and it is defined as the science of writing in secret code. Basically, the cryptography algorithms are categorized into two types which are Symmetric Key Cryptography and Asymmetric Key Cryptography algorithms. The prime goal leading the design of an encryption algorithm must provide security against unauthorized attacks. In this paper, a Block Encryption Standard for Transfer of data (BEST) is proposed to achieve the different goals of security i.e., Availability, Confidentiality and Integrity. This new algorithm is based on the symmetric key encryption approach.

The growing usage of embedded devices and sensors in our daily lives has been profoundly reshaping the way we interact with our environment and our peers. As more and more sensors will pervade our future cities, increasingly efficient infrastructures to collect, process, and store massive amounts of data streams from a wide variety of sources will be required. Despite the different application-specific features and hardware platforms, sensor network applications share a common goal: periodically sample and store data collected from different sensors in a common persistent memory. In this article we present a clustering approach for rapidly and efficiently computing the best sampling rate which minimizes the SSE (Sum of Square Errors) for each particular sensor in a network. In order to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed approach, we carried out experiments on real electric power consumption data streams produced by a 1-thousand sensor network provided by the French energy group-EDF (Electricite de France).

Biological pathways consisted of different elements (actions and reactors) which interact together simultaneously. Because of being closer to the nature of such processes, Concurrent Simulation will result in a much more precise simulation. In this paper, we came up with a new method for parallel processing of biological networks which is based on IEEE STD 1666-2005 standard and uses SystemC for concurrent simulation. Despite of more accurate outcomes, simulating based on SystemC, as one the standard hardware description languages, will result in models that are highly compatible with electronic hardware. We also designed an algorithm which is capable of creating “Time Concurrent Hybrid Functional Petri Network (TCHFPN) model” from “Hybrid Functional Petri Network (HFPN) model”, automatically. HFPN is one the most perfect recent models based on Petri-Net for modeling biological networks. For showing the authenticity of the offered method, we used it for simulating the P53 Transcriptional Activity. Comparing the results from this method with a similar simulation by Cell-Illustrator shows less than 0.4% of RMS error. Biological network models based on SystamC could be used both as an intellectual Property (IP) in hardware accelerators and as a System On Chip (SOC).

Computational chemistry comprises one of the driving forces of High Performance computing. In particular, manybody methods, such as Coupled Cluster methods (CC) (Bartlett and Musial, 2007) of the quantum chemistry package NWCHEM (Valiev, ***., 2010), are of particular interest for the applied chemistry community. With the increase in scale, complexity, and heterogeneity of modern platforms, traditional programming models fail to deliver the expected performance scalability. On our way to Exascale, we believe that dataflow-based programming models - in contrast to the control flow model (e.g., as implemented in languages such as C) - may be the only viable way for achieving and maintaining computation at scale. In this paper, we discuss a dataflow-based programming model and its applicability to NWCHEM's CC methods. Our dataflow version of the CC kernels breaks down the algorithm into finer grained tasks with explicitly defined data dependencies. As a result, the serialization imposed by the traditional, linear algorithms can be transformed into parallelism, allowing the overall computation to scale to much larger computational resources. We build this experiment using the parallel Runtime Scheduling and Execution Control (PARSEC) framework (Bosilca, ***., 2012) - a task-based dataflow-driven execution engine - that enables efficient task scheduling on distributed systems.

A parallel formulation of a branch-and-bound algorithm for floorplan optimization in VLSI design is given. Implementation details and performance analyses of the authors' formulation are presented. This implementation was done on a 128-node Symult s2010 multicomputer, as well as on a network of 16 SUN workstations. In the experiments with realistic problems, linear speedups on both machine configurations were obtained. Previous analyses of a similar parallel algorithm suggest that linear speedup can be obtained even on very large computers (>1000 processors) on practical instances of this problem.< >

The growth in the number of mobile users is motivating the new technology of mobile computing to offer many new types of services like location-based services that pose many challenging problems for location-dependent query processing and data management. In this paper, we discuss the various challenges in distributed processing of location-dependent continuous queries in a mobile environment by studying the different scenarios in which both the querying unit and the object being queried are in motion. Then we proceed to classify different types of location dependent queries. We discuss the different solutions to solve these complex location dependent queries using caching techniques that facilitate fast access to data and at the same time minimize the massive network traffic generated due to location dependent query processing in a wireless environment. To further reduce the data transfer the query results are cached so that these results are reusable. The conventional query processing method like join processing of data from mobile units and server is directly applied in the mobile environment. Additionally this paper also focuses on the methods of location-dependent query processing and applications. The main goal of this paper is to study the various location dependent query processing methods along with data management problems involved in evaluation of Location-dependent queries and classify them.

In this paper, we propose a new mobility assisted tracking (MAT) algorithm for tracking a single target in a hybrid sensor network consisting of both static and mobile nodes. The network is assumed to be partitioned into clusters and cluster heads are formed from a set of high capacity static nodes. One cluster head is selected to perform the tracking task using particle filters at a given time based on the observations received from the nodes belonging to the corresponding cluster. We exploit the node mobility in the hybrid sensor network to dynamically maintain a certain coverage level at the predicted target location at each time. In the proposed MAT algorithm mobile nodes are directed to move towards the predicted target position at each time step if the predicted target position is not covered to the desired coverage level by static nodes. Simulation results show that with the proposed MAT algorithm, an improved performance closer to the PCRLB is achieved with a relatively small number of mobile nodes in the network compared to the scenario when all nodes are static. The proposed scheme is also robust against static node as well as cluster head failures.
