Based on the cross-section bending of 5 carbon fiber concrete beams, the mechanism of deflection and strain of carbon fiber concrete beam were studied considering the variation of the length of carbon fiber and stirrup ratio. The experimental results show that the deflection of destruction increased with the increase of the length of the carbon fiber, and the effect of stirrup ratio on deflection and strain of beams is not obvious. The carbon fiber can effectively improve the brittle failure of concrete beam, and the stain of concrete accorded with that steel bar at the same height. According to the existing test model, the theoretical calculating formula of CFRC was proposed and applied for the cracking load calculation expression of CRFC beams, and theoretical calculated results agree well with experimental results.

The effective reinforcement depth is one of the most important parameters of dynamic compaction method design and construction, so far it is still lack of in-depth theoretical study. In this paper, combined with the field test, FLAC3D was used to do the numerical simulation of dynamic compaction reinforcement to cohesionless soil. By the simulation, this paper analyzed the factors which may influence the effective reinforcement depth, such as the hammer's weight, drop distance, base area, and the soil parameters. The orthogonal design method was used to analyze the soil parameters' sensitivity to the effective reinforcement depth. Combined with the results of numerical analysis and the traditional empirical formulae, the effective reinforcement depth calculation formula was established for cohesionless soil. Engineering verification shows that, the results estimated by the formula is reliable, and can provide certain reference for the future engineering.

research on the dynamic characteristics of gravity dam was carried out by adopting ARX model using the seismic response data of concrete gravity dam at Shui-Kou hydropower station. The applicability and effectiveness of single-Output-multiple-input ARX model were deduced and verified. A corresponding computer program was developed, and performed to identify the modal parameters of the system. The identified natural frequencies and damping ratios were basically same with the results by traditional peak point pick-up method, and also close to the finite element method (FEM) results. It is indicated that the structure natural frequencies and damping ratios are determined by the characteristics of the structure, the dynamic characteristics identified by ARX model are correct, and ARX model can avoid frequency leakiness when smoothing processing and Fourier transform are conducted in solving process of the peak point pick-up method. The modal identification can be applied to other structures.

This study focuses on finding the means for the harmonious and sustainable development of the people, resources, and environment of indemnificatory housing areas, as well as the prevention of the concomitants occurred in precedent countries, for example environmental deterioration, polarization between rich and poor, and social instability. It is elucidated in this paper that the government should provide residents of indemnificatory housing areas with diverse and humanized basic housing conditions and management services under the guidance of the idea of mixed housing, while follow the principles of open structure, elaborate design, shared facilities, environment friendly, and cooperative management. In addition, in this paper we demonstrated with practical examples that "Harmonious Housing Mode" is a sustainable development mode for indemnificatory housing.

Globalization has made the competition stiffer for every sector in Malaysia including the higher educational sector. Hence, quality improvement practices will be important for the higher education institution to remain competitive. The first objective of this study is to identify the importance and barriers of quality improvement practices in Malaysia's higher educational sector in the scope of training given to the student. Secondly, this study will also suggest the success factors for quality improvement practices in the same scope. The methods used to conduct the study are case study method and survey method. A questionnaire is given randomly to 30 students that had undergone the training provided by the National University of Malaysia (UKM). The study found that the student perceive the training quality as quite satisfactory. It is also found out that the five aspects of quality, which are the quality of process, quality of object, quality of atmosphere, quality of interaction and quality of infrastructure have high correlation between one another. The problems faced by the student during the training are unfriendly trainer or facilitator, incomplete facilities and that the training activities are sometimes boring. To address these issues, the trainer themselves have to be well-trained before they can teach. Besides, they should also have high commitment towards the quality improvement practices. Preventive maintenances should be conducted regularly to ensure that all the infrastructures are in functional condition. Finally, it is suggested that part of the training should be done online for easy access.

The new Nd-Fe-B magnets were prepared by powder metallurgical processing. The thermal stability and magnetic properties were found to be remarkably improved after annealing at 680 degrees C for 2 h. The B-r, and H-c, BH of annealed magnets were improved by -0.04 T, 132 KA.m(-1), 22 KJ.m(-3), from 1.25 T, 882 KA-m(-1), 286 KJ.m(-3) of the as-sintered magnets, respectively. The losses and average temperature coefficients of magnetic properties were very low at 373 K. Compare with the as-sintered magnets, the magnetic property losses of the annealed magnets decreased by half at different temperature. Scanning electron microscopy on magnets did reveal a noticeable difference in phase-morphology, and found that the improvements of thermal stability and magnetic properties can be attributed to the change of magnetic domain wall motion, composition, stray demagnetizing fields, and microstructure. The new Nd-Fe-B preferment magnets are promising to use in the all-electric bus hub direct drive motor.
