OBJECTIVE To study hemostatic and healing effect of the self-producing water-soluble O-carboxymethyl chitosan hemostatic *** With establishing a wounding model of vein and artery shearing of the Japanese large ear rabbit,commercial absorbable-gelatin sponge was used as a positive control,medical gauze was used as a negative *** the hemostatic efficacies and reliability were compared between a self-producing sponge group and *** the same time,the wound healing effect of a self-producing sponge on a wounding model of scalpel shearing of the Japanese large ear rabbit was observed through both the histological sections observation and the size of wound *** The results showed that the self-producing sponge was significantly shorter than commercial absorbable-gelatin sponge on the bleeding time(P<0.01)and no recurring hemorrhage was found with reliable hemostatic *** taking care of the wound contraction,the self producing sponge group was much more quickly than that in control *** self producing sponge group was significantly better than that in control group of blood,redness,errhysis,itching,scab and incrustation,flatness,skin elasticity and so *** self producing sponge group was covered with epidermal on wound and divided clearly at the epidermis and *** wound healed get close to normal skin *** We consider that the self producing O-carboxymethyl chitosan hemostatic sponge has good hemostatic *** could promote the healing of bleeding wounds,*** has portable and easy to use and would has a widely future in wound hemostatic fields.
