Based on a nine-accelerometer configuration, application integral algorithm and logarithmic algorithm to solve angular velocity of gyroscope-free strap down inertial navigation system (GFSINS). Process was derived for solving angular velocity using two kinds of algorithms, and found in experiments the signal of solving angular velocity using logarithmic algorithm can't judge in some cases, then detailed analyzed the reason why logarithmic algorithm can't determine solving angular velocity solver, and proposed solutions. Two kinds of algebraic algorithm were used for solving angular velocity and simulated. The results show that the error of integral algorithms accumulates relatively fast, the error of logarithmic algorithm is not accumulated, and has better efficiency and reliability. © 2012 ieee.

Auction based mechanisms have become popular in industrial procurement settings. These mechanisms minimize the cost of procurement and at the same time achieve desirable properties such as truthful bidding by the suppliers. In this paper, we investigate the design of truthful procurement auctions taking into account an additional important issue namely carbon emissions. In particular, we focus on the following procurement problem: A buyer wishes to source multiple units of a homogeneous item from several competing suppliers who offer volume discount bids and who also provide emission curves that specify the cost of emissions as a function of volume of supply. We assume that emission curves are reported truthfully since that information is easily verifiable through standard sources. First we formulate the volume discount procurement auction problem with emission constraints under the assumption that the suppliers are honest (that is they report production costs truthfully). Next we describe a mechanism design formulation for green procurement with strategic suppliers. Our numerical experimentation shows that emission constraints can significantly alter sourcing decisions and affect the procurement costs dramatically. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first effort in explicitly taking into account carbon emissions in planning procurement auctions. © 2012 ieee.

In supervisory control of discrete-event systems, prescribing formal specifications is a non-trivial task that depends on the intuition and cognitive understanding of the designer. A human designer has no assurance if a prescribed specification is as intended, making it necessary to manually validate the specification, i.e., check whether the specification does indeed prescribe the intended requirement. This uncertainty in specification is compounded in the case of timed discrete-event systems (TDES's), where real-timing behavior also needs to be correctly specified. The fundamental control theory for TDES's requires a specification to be formalized as a timed transition graph (TTG), prescribing a timed regulation of logical behavior that restricts a TDES to some timed execution sequences. To help validate the specification, human designers need an algorithm that can automatically remodel the TTG specification, to highlight sequences essential for comprehending the specification's timed restrictions while hiding irrelevant information. By 'hiding' in self-loops the associated events of all transitions deemed irrelevant to the specification, we can obtain a more comprehensible TTG, formalized by what we call a transparent TTG specification. In this paper, we propose a polynomial-time algorithm to compute TTG specifications of clear transparency. © 2012 ieee.

In the development of an effective medication management system to improve medication adherence, the challenge of flexibly dispensing of medications of multiple sizes and shapes was encountered. It is found that most of the medication dispensers in the market, as well as the feeding and orienting mechanisms in manufacturing sector, are customized to be operated with objects of specific size. In view of the inflexibility of those mechanisms, we proposed a novel method to handle and singulate medications of different sizes and shapes. A three dimensional adjustable cavity is designed as a carrier to separate and dispense one pill at a time. Rotational reciprocating vibration is then designed to provide centrifugal effect to the objects in hopper, in order to assist the singulation. An angle inclination test has been performed on the prototype built to investigate the optimum inclination of the feeding hopper. Preliminary testing has shown propitious results for dispensing round shape tablets of various sizes. The prototype built validated the concept of three dimensional adjustable cavity as a novel singulation technique. The mechanism is not only restricted to the dispensing of various sizes of pills, but has the potential to be implemented in dispensing or feeding of other objects in applications like vending machine, manufacturing system and etc. © 2012 ieee.

As the pre-research of high voltage active power filter (APF), an experimental prototype of single-phase H-bridges cascaded active power filter is built based on digital signal processing chip TMS320F2812. Based on instantaneous reactive-power theory, the single-phase grid circuit is decomposed and analyzed by mathematical method and a more suitable detecting method for harmonics and reactive currents in single-phase circuit is deduced in this paper. The results of simulation and experiment show that experimental prototype can realize harmonic current compensation effectively.

Background extraction is a fundamental task in many computer vision applications. This paper presents a novel method based on K-means Clustering Algorithm. First, the intensity values are divided into several groups by clustering method automatically. Then the mean of intensities in the most frequent group is assigned as the background intensity. The experiment results show that the proposed approach achieves more accurate background than traditional method.

In order to solve problems caused by the individualism of Chinese architecture more and more researchers focus on Hybrid and improved Hidden Markov Model. However, as the foundation of Chinese natural language processing, studies on Chinese words segmentation based on Second-order Hidden Markov Model (HMM2) are not abundant. A words frequency weighted smoothing method and a Threshold-Viterbi algorithm are proposed and combined to build a Improved Viterbi Algorithm-based HHM2(IV-HMM2) model in this article to overcome the sparse problem and improve the accuracy. Experimental rusults demonstrate that the improved model has better performance and lower overhead than traditional HMM2. © 2012 ieee.

We make efforts to help the investigator discover the hidden conspirators. In the criminal cases, the investigators or the police have to make full use of the messages or spoken documents data that they record in files. Thus, mining the latent information from messages is vital to them. In Information Retrieval area, Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) is an important method for query matching which can discover the underlying semantic relation or similarity between words and topics. We introduce a network hierarchical structure to analyze the original message network, making the analysis conveniently as well as ensuring the connectivity of the inner network connection of all the conspirators. For this purpose, we use LSA to measure the similarities between topics and Crime Prototype Vector, and the similarities will be used as the weights of the paths in the network hierarchies and calculate the suspicious degrees. © 2012 ieee.
