Dynamic weather conditions, such as rain and snow, degrade the performance of vision algorithms, which is served for video surveillance and analysis tasks. Many methods have been proposed to reduce the effects of raindrops and snow flakes that are regarded as noises in each frame of a certain video. However, the removing of rain-drop or snow-flake is quite challenging since each of them affects only on a very small region of an image, thus, leading us a rub to determine which region should be smoothed and which should not. In this paper, a guided filter, by which no pixel-based statistical information for detecting rain and snow are needed, is introduced in the removal stage. The results show that it may achieve better performance. In addition, the degradation-restoring algorithm is suitable for both single images and videos.

Fractional Horsepower DC motors find broad applications in the automotive industry, household appliances and other consumer electronic products. Precise velocity control is often required in applications such as computer disk drives. However, one of the challenges encountered is, often times, it is hard to exactly determine the loading condition of the motor. The inaccurate model from this uncertain loading condition may result in erratic velocity control. This paper presents an experimental approach to characterize a DC servo motor loaded with an unknown torque: a steady-state approach is proposed to estimate the parameters of the entire loaded system. Based on the transfer function, a PID controller is designed to validate the resulted model. In the demonstration, a DC servo motor included in a Feedback® 33-100 mechanical unit was utilized. The PID controller was implemented on a BasicStamp® microcontroller with an external analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and an external digital-to-analog converter (DAC).

The demand of virtual 3D models is growing rapidly with the development of city informatization and digitalization. Buildings are essential objects of virtual city. Over the years, researchers have made considerable progress towards developing efficient techniques for generating 3D buildings, however, procedural modeling is still a challenging task because of limitation of data sources and reality requirement restraints. To overcome this problem, this paper introduces a procedural method based on rule sets according to certain criterion available to common building all over the world. We describe the modeling processing based on two-dimension GIS data and digital image. The experiments showed that the presented approach is an automatic and effective method for modeling mass buildings.

The Cloud Bank model, which is derived from Grid bank [1], is a kind of commerce model of cloud computing that provides pay-as-you-go computing resources. In this model, Cloud Bank is an agent platform of resource transaction. Cloud computing uses the concept of service level agreement (SLA) to control the use and receipt of computing resources from, and by, Cloud Bank. As computing resources are provided in the form of services, Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms are introduced to solve any quality of service problems. This paper presents a framework of Service Level Agreements in the Cloud Bank model (CBSLA), QoS attributes is added to the CBSLA to guarantee the quality of service. All the transactions of cloud bank are based on the CBSLA agreement.
