With the rapid development of pervasive computing, more and more sensors based applications have been implemented. And many problems occur in the process of providing stable basis for the normal working of these systems. One of them is how to continuously monitor/capture and interpret the environment related information efficiently to assure high context awareness. Many attentions have been paid to the research of the context-aware pervasive applications. However, most of them just use the raw context directly or take the Quality of Context (QoC) into account in just one or two steps. Therefore, we propose a layered middleware based context-aware framework that support QoC management through various layers. By this framework we can refinery raw context, discard duplicate and inconsistent context so as to protect and provide QoS-enriched context information of users to context-aware applications and services.

A face recognition method based on the discrete cosine transform (DCT) and ϵ-Local Binary Pattern (ϵ-LBP) is presented. The method makes use of DCT to do with the face image and selects the upper-left corner of the DCT matrix as frequency features. At the same time, we adopt to ϵ-LBP extract different scale texture features by using different ϵ, then use ReliefF to reduce its dimensions. Finally, we fuse the feature of the DCT and LBP after normalization, and classify by SVM. Experiments performed on UMIST facial database can achieve an accuracy of 99.15%, results indicate that this method can get a variety of facial feature information to improve the recognition rate by using the complementary facial information of frequency domain and space domain.

Image matching has become a very important technology in the field of image information processing and has been widely used in photogrammetry, virtual reality scenes and biomedicine. Traditional matching algorithm based on gray-scale has neither noise immunity nor more timesaving property. In this paper, we represent a new matching algorithm which combines wavelet multi-resolution and local entropy. The identical points were matched according to the calculation of the local entropy between images to improve the ability of noise-resistance. Meanwhile, matching points of two images are established through the choosing strategy that is set from the rough to the fine by the wavelet multi-resolution to enhancing the computing efficiency. The algorithm has obvious superiorities in matching accuracy and computation for noisy images shown in the experiments finished by MATLAB.
