Learning from sensor data is important in many robotic research areas, such as dexterous robotic hand grasping. In this paper, a piecewise linear dynamic model is proposed for analyzing robotic hand grasp. The combination of linear dynamic model and the switched systems can achieve better results in grasp learning due to its advantage of modeling multi-phase grasping process. To the best knowledge of the authors, this is the first time for piecewise linear dynamic model to be incorporated into the framework of modeling robotic hand grasp process. The performance of the proposed model is evaluated on our experimental system and shows promising results. © 2012 ieee.

This work describes a ludic proposal for programming learning of industrial robots to be developed by groups of engineering students. Two projects are presented: Tic-tac-toe Opponent Robot and Environmentalist Robot. The first project use competitive search techniques of the Artificial Intelligence, computational vision, electronic and pneumatic concepts for ability decision making for a robotic agent on the tic-tae-toe game. The second project consists of a game that contains a questions and answers database about environmental themes. An algorithm selects the group of questions to be answered by the player, analyses the answers and sends the result to a industrial robot through serial port. According with the player performance, the robot makes congratulation movements and giving a gift to the winner player. Otherwise, the robot makes movements, disapproving the player performance.

Human navigation has been a topic of interest in spatial cognition from the past few decades. It has been experimentally observed that humans accomplish the task of way-finding a destination in an unknown environment by recognizing landmarks. Investigations using network analytic techniques reveal that humans, when asked to way-find their destination, learn the top ranked nodes of a network. In this paper we report a study simulating the strategy used by humans to recognize the centers of a network. We show that the paths obtained from our simulation has the same properties as the paths obtained in human based experiment. The simulation thus performed leads to a novel way of path finding in a network. We discuss the performance of our method and compare it with the existing techniques to find a path between a pair of nodes in a network. © 2012 ieee.

People store many things in drawer cases. However, they sometimes forget the places of the stored things. As a solution of this problem, we propose a managing system which server stores and informs the place of the stored things by using the idea of "Intelligent Space". Home service robot is able to use this system for getting information of stored things and bring them to the user. The system consists of drawer case, RFID tag, tag antenna and tag reader. RFID tag is attached to the stored things. Tag antenna reads RFID tag data and gets information of the things. In this system, reliability of RFID tag reading is especially important. However, the stored things in the drawer case are vary and the positions and orientations of the attached RFID tags are different according to the posture and the shape of the stored things. It is necessary to be read RFID tags of various positions and orientations in this system. In this paper, we consider the method to read RFID tags of various positions and orientations. Especially, we consider reading the vertical RFID tags in regard to tag antennas. We made a prototype model of drawer case, and evaluated it through experiments. © 2012 ieee.

This paper presents a new prediction model, which combines the clustering with neural network. The existed clustering algorithm has the shortcoming that can not determine the clustering number K, so this paper combines it with the concept of rough set to improve, and tests it on the IRIS data, Then this paper presents the new forecasting model which combines improved clustering algorithm and neural networks to improve the prediction accuracy more effectively, and tests it in statistics data. © 2012 ieee.

The network management, systems support the network operators by providing automation of common management tasks, fault management and automation of network reconfiguration. The testing and performance analysis of such system is a challenging engineering issue. In this paper the methodology for testing and performance analysis of the network management systems is proposed, based on a software device emulator. The emulator fully represents the managed devices and implements the management protocols to provide the same load on the server as the real devices. The sample results achieved by the proposed framework are presented.

According to the limitations of Three ratio method in Gas chromatographic analysis of transformer, uses radar chart to show the relative content of gases dissolved in oil intuitively, sets up the typical radar chart modeles of fault type. Calculates the similarity of binary images of the radar chartes prepared to be tested and typical modeles of fault type, to export the probability of some failures, provids the possibility of potential failures, avoids the unicity of results by the three ratio method. © 2012 ieee.

Malay is categorized as a resource-poor language. Thus, there is limited research on corpus linguistics for Malay. This paper discusses an automated process of applying part-of-speech (POS) tags to Malay words. Conventional tagging works well on static grammatical classes with little ambiguities, as performed in most research on resource-rich languages. However, the grammatical classes of Malay are dynamic, where adjectives can be verbs or adverbs and vice versa. This makes automatic POS tagging of Malay a chaotic and challenging process. There is no labelled data publicly available for Malay while hand-crafted corpora are labour-intensive and time-consuming. Hence, this paper introduces an unsupervised technique to tag Malay terrorism texts as a case study. This is a solution to partially overcome the shortage of annotated resources for Malay and the labour-intensity of a hand-tagged corpus. This approach does not require any labelled training data but involves translation of texts into a resource-rich language, i.e. English, and a dictionary look-up. After comparing the results with human annotators, it is found that the unsupervised technique reaches 76% precision and a 67% recall rate. © 2012 ieee.

Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN) was applied to prediction mainly. Over the traditional neural network, less time was cost by PNN in network architecture determining and training. But the smoothing parameter used in the estimation results was a user-defined constant. How to determine this parameter's value is a crucial problem in PNN. Combined with adaptive genetic algorithm (GA), a novel PNN was proposed. Crossover probability pc and mutation probability pm were employed to optimize the smoothing parameter. These two probability factors were adaptive, they would vary with the fitness of population. A reasonable search breadth and depth was finished by the GA with pc and pm. The prediction accuracy of PNN was increased because of the smoothing parameters optimization. The simulation experiments demonstrated that the improved PNN model was effective. The prediction precision was increased more. © 2012 ieee.

A wild variety of applications will become a major driving force and ultimate goal of the development of the IOT, so to realize different services from various areas, has become its biggest challenge for its development. How to design a service platform that could accommodate a variety of service applications have become a basic need for lots of fields. In this thesis, we propose a platform that can extract, describe, composite, publish and support the implementation of the service of the IOT, and lastly can realize the unified treatment of the service. In order to construct a stable ubiquitous service platform environment and provide users with scalable service applications, we propose a new platform Ubiquitous Service Platform for the Internet Of Things (USPIOT). The platform not only can effectively find the new services, but also provide users with a reliable mechanism for the implementation of the service. We paper focuses on describing the service processing and meanwhile giving the experimental validation of the platform. The result proves that the new platform can meet a large number of service applications of the IOT and has good stability and scalability.
