The access conflict from different threads or processes for parallel applications, can lead the system performance to degrade for multi-core system with shared cache. Cache replacement algorithm for L2 shared cache can be used to solve the problem efficiently and reasonably. Although LRU cache replacement algorithm can better reflect the locality of program and is widely used, it is not optimal for reducing the shared cache miss ratio and MPKI (misses per thousand instructions), and can not predict whether the data is be used frequently. In this paper, based on the consideration of time prediction, the disadvantage of LRU and the conflict between parallel application and shared cache, we propose the LRU2-MRU collaborative cache replacement algorithm to solve these problems. We use 10 benchmark programs to show that the LRU2-MRU collaborative cache algorithm may reduce the miss ratio of L2 shared cache by 4.61%, and the MPKI is average 4.54% lower than LRU.

Implementation of software quality requirements is critical for producing high-quality softwares. High-level quality requirements are usually refined stepwise by different low-level quality requirements, until some potential functional design alternatives are identified. An important question is how design alternatives can be effectively selected to satisfice the quality requirements. This paper focuses on the satisficing statuses of nodes in the quality requirements goal tree models, and presents an automated reasoning technique to select design alternatives. The final satisficing status of quality requirements can be obtained provided that the satisficing statuses of design alternatives are assigned. Existing approaches propose reasoning approaches which do not support efficient identification if many design alternatives and candidate solutions may exist. Our work provides an alternative approach to identify what is the acceptable design decision in a timely manner. A case study is also presented to illustrate our proposed automated reasoning approach. © 2012 ieee.

Within this paper, we will describe a grid concept to realize a universal remote lab infrastructure as well as different operation modes based on this concept. This new infrastructure consists of three parts: an internal serial remote lab bus, a bus protection unit to interface the remote lab bus and to protect it from misuse and damage as well as a protection unit, which protects the physical systems (the electro-mechanical models in our remote lab) against deliberate damage or accidentally wrong control commands and which offers different access and control mechanisms. The interconnection between the Web-control units and the selected physical system during a remote lab work session (experiment) as well as the user management is done by the lab server, which also handles the webcams. The implemented remote lab infrastructure is based on the iLab architecture of the MIT, which allows to interconnect remote labs and to exchange remote lab experiments among different universities worldwide. © 2012 ieee.

To minimize the logic resources and improve the operation speed, a new kind of FPGA implementation algorithm of distributed arithmetic FIR filter is presented, which is based on remainder theorem. In this algorithm, firstly the input signal and FIR filter's coefficients are respectively transformed into remainder number, then the filtering operation are carried out by MAC module with folding structure and pipeline organization, finally the remainder number of MAC result are transformed into binary data. The ModelSim simulation result shows that the implementation method is feasibly and effictive and comparing with the traditional methods can enormously reduce the logic resources. © 2012 ieee.

The cost of information management and manpower involvement in administrative operations is increasing rapidly with the rise in amount of transactions. In order to counteract the above issue, all the tasks involved in administrative operations should be automated. Integrating a knowledge based support to this automation would be a novel approach. For storing and deploying the task automation knowledge, the present research describes a Knowledge-Acquisition System (KAS) to store the process oriented knowledge to be used by a typical knowledge based system called as knowledge based educational administrative system (KBEADS). This knowledge based system provides the necessary support to the administrative staff of a large engineering institution to carry out their knowledge intensive academic operations such as optimization of student graduation path. The KAS permits advisors to specify rules on the more substantive advising issues. The system permits the university students to obtain an optimized selection of courses without the assistance of a human advisor. The knowledge base consisting of rules and facts has been implemented using Java Expert System Shell version 71p2. In this paper, we describe the system structure, facility, user interface, and some experience with the system. © 2012 ieee.

In Recent years Robotic science has shown a lot of advances and also faced new conditions and challenges. One of the most discussed issues in mobile robots study fields is the mapping discussion or SLAM, in which robots identify environment through range finder and estimate the position Emergence of this issue has also brought up another challenge in terms of map integration. In other words, in case of having two or more robots in a common environment that each one generates its own individual maps, a special method is needed to integrate their generated maps. During recent years various articles were presented upon this challenge, in which the integrated map is generated based on distances obtained from range finder sensors and the similarity of these distances between several maps. In this paper we are intended to generate a graph based on image processing techniques, match them and discuss upon the improvement enhanced by this in compare with other point matching method. © 2012 ieee.

Freedom Fone (FF) is an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System that integrates with the Global System for Mobile (GSM) telecommunications [1]. Sahana is a disaster information management expert system working with Internet technologies [2]. The Project intent was to mediate information between the FF and Sahana through the Emergency Data Exchange Language (EDXL) interoperable content standard [3]. It goal was to equip Sarvodaya, Sri Lanka's largest humanitarian organization, with voice-enabled disaster communication. The 3.52 Mean Opinion Score (MOS) for voice quality was an early automation challenge in introducing Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR). A 4.0 MOS was determined as a cut-point for classifying reliable voice data [4]. The Percent Difficult (PD) in an emulated speaker-independent scenario was 29.44% and a speaker-dependent scenario was 13.24%. Replacing human operators with ASR software proved inefficient [5] and [6]. This paper discusses uncertainties that are barriers to integrating voice enabled automated emergency communication services for response resource analysis and decision support. © 2012 ieee.

Audits are performed to ascertain the validity and reliability of information, also to provide an assessment of a system's internal control. Analyzed here is an incremental design of unified auditing and monitoring platform (UAM) in view point of business software. In fact, UAM is an integrated managing system of logs and running parameters. Database is the core of all kinds of management information system (MIS), and the more business logic implemented in database, the less coding work left to programmers. In this paper, complex network is introduced into the database table designing to visualization the internal associations which denotes the external business logic relationship. Though an example is discussed, but the approach can be widely used in various MIS system design, especially in large scale information system. © 2012 ieee.
