High-value assets are prime targets for theft. Mitigating the losses associated with such theft requires swift detection, accurate identification, and real-time response. This research proposes an anti-theft system employing active RFID technology to automate the process of tracking, comprising RFID tags and readers. The study evaluates the system's performance in a real-world environment by adopting Design of Experiment (DOE) and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), focusing on key factors influencing throughput and communication range. The analysis revealed that baud rate and frame size were significant factors affecting throughput, with frame size having a stronger influence than baud rate. In evaluating communication range, power level and obstruction were the primary factors impacting read range performance, with power level exerting a greater influence than obstruction. The findings of this study provide guidelines for optimizing the deployment of RFID-based anti-theft systems. © 2024 ieee.

Active Noise control (ANC) systems involve the application of many control engineering concepts which makes them suitable for control engineering education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The physics involved revolving around destructive noise interference through superposition is easily understood. The complexity of the system can be gradually increased from ideal to realistic cases to meet the required educational levels while introducing important control concepts like feedback and feedforward architecture, nonminimum phase, linearity and nonlinearity, time delay and multivariable systems. The ANC control methods are rich incorporating linear and nonlinear fixed nonadaptive and adaptive control, robust and optimal control, neural network, and fuzzy logic. The systems also enable introduction to deep learning, digital signal processing, and differences between analog and digital electronic systems. In this paper, the main control concepts, ideas, and methods applied in ANC in presented as a series of 'concept' to be addressed in control engineering education. Furthermore, this work aims towards translational research where the ideas and approach applicable to ANC may also be beneficial and adopted in other control applications. © 2023 ieee.

The aviation sector has seen several modifications, most of which are connected to autopilot systems. In the current era of artificial intelligence (AI), robust control algorithms can be tuned for optimal accuracy by utilizing AI's power. To adjust the control system for controlling the drone, this publication suggests combining the Reinforcement Learning algorithm with the ability to recognize 3D hand gestures as input. This study uses Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG) in conjunction with 3D hand gesture recognition to determine the optimal reward and transfer the processed input to proportional integral derivative (PID) control. This method demonstrated how an AI-powered control algorithm can enhance an underactuated quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle's (UAV) ability to fly and hover. In addition to simulation data, the study includes hardware results that were verified with a DJI Tello Drone. When compared to a typical PID flight controller, the examination of the findings shows that the new design framework provides better accuracy and computing time. Six reward functions normalized between 0 and -4000, have been estimated for training episodes of 2500, 5000, 7500, and 10,000. The greatest observation, wherein the rewards are computed for maximum value, has been recorded on 2500 episodes. © 2024 ieee.

Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) is a crucial device in neuromuscular applications, facilitating restoring functionality of paralyzed muscles and limbs. However, its practical utilization encounters significant nonlinear challenges, predominantly arising from factors like muscle fatigue and time delay. These challenges impede the optimal performance of FES controllers, such as proportional-integral-derivative (PID), sometimes resulting in suboptimal outcomes or complete failure. The nonlinearities introduced by these factors necessitate system adaptability, but traditional controller retuning is often impractical due to its adverse effects on muscle performance. Moreover, introducing time delays can induce instability and oscillations in the system. This study explores the application of direct torque control (DTC) with PID controller to leverage FES-induced muscle torque for knee rehabilitation. Through a simulation model developed in MATLAB/Simulink, we empirically demonstrate the effectiveness of the PID-DTC approach in managing the knee extension model with nonlinear time delay in closed-loop FES. The results demonstrate the absence of oscillations, reduced overshoot, and minimal steady-state error, suggesting potential for successful real-world hardware implementation in rehabilitation applications. © 2024 ieee.

Recent years have seen significant expansion within Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) with increasing demand from sectors including reconnaissance, surveillance, and delivery. This paper focus on the modelling and control aspects specific to quadcopters, a popular type of UAV with an ambition to increase their stability quotient whilst accounting for factors like thrust, torque and aerodynamics guided by mathematical equations and physics laws governing their dynamics with use of MATLAB Simulink. For effective stabilization purposes design objective is generating proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers while testing simulations to gauge the controller's performance;the results highlight a reduction in oscillations and an increased stability with more favourable regulation of motion relatively than earlier. A physical quadcopter test then follows to cross-validate simulation findings for any subsequent required optimizations of existing PID controls. The project aims at contributing extensively towards enhancing UAV control through developing reliable and efficient PID controllers with specific focus towards quadcopters that can find application potential over other types of UAVs within this industry. © 2023 ieee.

Catfish is one type of fish that holds a prominent position due to ease of cultivation, the popularity of its high protein and economic significance in aquaculture or fish farming that has become a significant sector in the global food industry, meeting the increasing demand for seafood. However, maintaining of clean water parameters in the rearing environment is crucial for a catfish farm to be successful. African Catfish is one of Malaysia's most popular and favored freshwater food fish species. The ideal hatching and the greatest larval survival of African catfish is a pH level of within the range 6.7-7.5. The family Claridae includes the African catfish (Clarias gariepinus). This project focuses on the design and implementation of a water quality monitoring system for catfish ponds using PID control and Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The pH level fluctuations can have adverse effects on the catfish's health. The PID Water Quality Monitoring for Catfish Pond are designed to see the results of the pH data using MATLAB Software and ThingSpeak software. The circuit is designed by using WEMOS D1 R32 microcontroller, Sensor E-201-C and 12V Solenoid Valve. The experiment is conducted by throwing bread into the plastic basin. PID controller is implemented to control the opening of valve for water flow to achieve setpoint. The sensor performance was evaluated. The sensor can read pH level of the water and can stabilise the pH water using PID controller. © 2024 ieee.

Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) assists individuals with neuromuscular impairments during rehabilitation exercises conducted in open-loop and closed-loop. Typically, during the design phase, the closed-loop FES system mainly consists of a feedback controller, a second-order model, or a knee extension model to represent the actual knee. Closed-loop FES or feedback controllers are generally better, but their performance drops in real-world scenarios due to nonlinear factors like fatigue, time delay, spasm, and spasticity. These lead to suboptimal performance of the feedback controllers and even failure, diminishing their effectiveness in assisting patients. In response to these challenges, this paper investigates four different techniques of system reconfiguration, which involves changing the closed-loop system structure to mitigate the adverse effects of time delay in real-world FES applications. To evaluate the effectiveness of the four techniques, a feedback PID controller, knee extension model or second-order critically damped system were developed and tested using MATLAB/Simulink software. The simulation results demonstrate that the first system reconfiguration technique improves system behaviour and enhances FES controller performance. This research marks a significant step towards improving the practicality and adaptability of FES technology for individuals with neuromuscular impairments. © 2024 ieee.

In boiler control system, water level is regarded as an important process control parameter to ensure that the boiler could function efficiently. PID controller is the most used controller in controlling the water level. However, conventional PID is unable to control efficiently for the process that have high nonlinearity and high sensitivity. In this project, fuzzy logic controller plus PID control was introduced to the water level control in boiler system. The controller named as self-tuning fuzzy PID (STFPID) controller was proposed in this project to overcome the problem occurred. The controller is implemented in MATLAB and simulated in SIMULINK to analyze the performance analysis between conventional PID controller, FLC and STFPID controller. These controllers will be comparing their performance in terms of system response that includes percent overshoot (% OS), settling time (Ts) and rise time (Tr). Based on the analysis, the STFPID controller produces better performance than the PID and fuzzy logic controller in term of rise time, settling time and overshoot. © 2023 ieee.

This paper presents an optimum tuning on finite-time prescribed performance with PID (FT-PPC-PID) controller using the Evolutionary Mating Algorithm (EMA) approach for a pneumatic servo system's (PSS) rod-piston positioning. The design objective is to optimize the convergence rate and finite time of the prescribed performance function in error transformation in parallel with PID controller's gains. The multi-step input trajectory on the PPVDC model plant was used for simulations with specific load and random noise as disturbances. The results demonstrate that the controller optimized with EMA outperforms the same controller optimized with other methods in achieving dynamic multi-step positioning of the rod-piston. This highlights the significant enhancement in overall performance of PPVDC positioning, including the stability of its internal system, through the EMA-optimized finite-time prescribed performance controller with PID. © 2023 ieee.

Examining one's client status in depth, also known by its acronym 'Know Your Customer' (KYC), raises a significant problem that needs to be addressed thoroughly. As a result of this, the current paper examines the dynamics of client status and utilized 'Blockchain Technology' to developed KYC. Since earlier research was lacking in its capacity to establish a KYC system, which is utilized in the financial sector, principally by banks, to collect information mandated by law regarding their customers in order to provide access to financial services, it is important to note this deficiency. The existing system makes use of databases that are hosted on servers operated by private corporations or by organizations that have their own infrastructures. Traditional KYC systems come with several potential drawbacks, including a single point of failure (SPOF), tedious and time-consuming processes for customers, and high costs to construct one's own KYC identification and verification system. The aim of this project's proof-of-concept is to mitigate the effects of the identified issues through the utilization of blockchain technology. The system's ability to facilitate the data gathering and verification process was enhanced by the provision of previously registered KYC data by individual users through a single click, as well as the cross-checking of KYC data by bank users to verify their users' information. © 2023 ieee.
