In this research, the reaction force estimation method based on sliding mode control with sliding perturbation observer (SMCSPO) is proposed for a tele-operated bilateral control of hydraulic servo system having master-slave manipulators. The hydraulic servo system is a key system used in the dismantling nuclear power plant. The reaction force at the end effector of slave is estimated by sliding perturbation observer (SPO) without using any sensor. A tele-operated bilateral control strategy in hydraulic servo system is used for the position and force tracking between the master and slave. Sliding mode control (SMC) is further used for the position tracking control of a slave. The proposed method is verified through the experiment results which shows that the slave device can follows the trajectory of the master device using the proposed tele-operated bilateral control and reaction force estimation method. © 2018 ieee.

This paper presents the development of a hardware-in-the-loop testbed for a three-bus power grid interfaced with a simulated networked control system (NCS) for studying cyber security threats and their possible impacts on the power grid. The three-bus grid consists of two generator buses, configured as slack bus (constant voltage and angle) and PV bus (constant power and constant voltage), and a load bus (PQ bus). The synchronous generators are driven by dynamometers serving as prime movers, and the field circuits controlled by insulated gate bipolar junction transistor (IGBT) DC/DC choppers. The load bus operates switchable resistors, capacitors, and inductors that are connected to the generator buses through transmission lines. The simulated NCS is implemented on an Opal real-time (Opal-RT) platform, which is a PC/FPGA based real-time simulator that can integrate hardware with software simulations, commonly referred to as hardware-in-the-loop (HIL). In general, HIL setups have the advantage that physical elements under test interact in real time with a simulated model of a large scale system and provide a better insight of performance of both the physical system and the controller. In this HIL experiment, the data acquisition unit (DAQ), and the controller are both implemented on the Opal-RT platform. The controller determines the duty cycle of the pulse width modulated (PWM) signals applied to the gate of the IGBT which controls the voltage applied the generator field circuits, thus producing desired terminal voltages of the generators. Experimental results are presented that show the effects of cyber-attacks on a generator control system. A baseline for the behavior of the three-bus system is first established by operating the generator under various load conditions for which the controller maintains the desired terminal voltage. For historic reasons, Indian Electricity systems grew with little emphasis on control. It evolved from the standalone city distribution systems to a single large interconnection for the nation's mainland and yet, its control needs remained largely ignored. Indigenous, unconventional measures were tried, with limited purpose. The need and desirability of control were amply demonstrated, albeit expensively, when the country suffered two major blackouts in 2012. The paper advocates introduction of Automatic Generation control, for the control of frequency and the inter area interchanges, urgently. This control becomes particularly relevant, in view of the largescale proliferation of Renewable Energy being envisaged. It is suggested that the four Regional Electricity systems may be treated as control Areas for the purpose, with unconstrained dispatch within each region. The control system is described and its working illustrated, taking Indian electricity system as sample, with the four Regional systems as control Areas. It is shown that Primary control does not contribute to Net Interchange control at all, thus highlighting the importance of Secondary control. Primary control is useful in quick recovery of frequency to within acceptable Quasi Steady State frequency limit, even at the cost of marginally worsening Net Interchange Deviation. Indian Mainland Electricity system does not need Primary control for arresting frequency decline, as load damping itself is sufficiently large. The Quasi Steady State frequency limit chosen, greatly influences the Primary control Reserve quantum to be carried. Secondary control Reserve of under 2% of peak capacity is suggested, with Tertiary Reserve supplementing the service. © 2018 ieee.

Subject to complex unknowns, a novel surge-guided adaptive LOS (SALOS) based path following control scheme is addressed for underactuated marine vehicles (UMVs) in this paper. Main contributions are as follows: (1) Based on the LOS guidance method with adaptive sideslip compensation, the guided surge velocity adapted to cross-track error is innovatively incorporated, and thereby significantly improving the decision-making level and robustness of the guidance system;(2) Complex unknowns are compositely observed by the constructed finite-time unknown observer (FUO), and the unknown observation errors are stabilized to be origin in a finite time;(3) Combined with finite-time unknown observation, the robust surge and heading tracking controllers are developed with high accuracy and finite-time unknown rejection. Simulation studies are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness and remarkable performance of the proposed SALOS scheme. © 2018 ieee.

Though the classical packet-level queueing theory, which treats each packet as an entry, has achieved a great success in network analysis, it can be inaccurate when directly applied to long-term evolution (LTE) networks. This is because arriving packets could be broken down at the LTE base station server across adjacent transmission time intervals (TTIs), which are the smallest scheduling time units in LTE networks. In this paper, we first propose an innovative bit-level queueing theory to address the challenges in performance analysis of LTE networks. To consider the randomness in packet arrivals and packet lengths, we propose two representative compound network traffic models-Poisson-Exponential (PE) and Zeta-Pareto (ZP) models-to approximate light-tailed and heavy-tailed network traffic, respectively. PE models are suitable for conventional voice and low-speed services, while ZP models, which compound power-law distributions, describe complicated high-speed network applications. We derive tail asymptotics for the distributions of the number of bit arrivals in one TTI and the corresponding waiting time. Based on the results in bit-level queueing theory, we present engineering applications that take into account user experience, including estimating the user experience rate (UER), the busy UER and hourly traffic volume. The theoretical results are then validated through extensive simulations. Our novel traffic estimation approach has been adopted by Wireless Product Line at Huawei for network capacity planning and also projected to international Telecommunication Union (ITU) to compose 5G standards.

Multiuser multiple-input and multiple-output (MU-MIMO) technology is regarded as one of the most promising technologies to cope with the enormous amount of network traffic in wireless local area networks. However, combining uplink and downlink MU-MIMO on the basis of a distributed coordination function causes serious channel resource loss because of collisions between uplink and downlink transmissions. In this paper, we propose a phase-divided medium access control (PD-MAC) protocol, in which a novel integrated frame structure is introduced that allocates two phases for uplink and downlink in a periodic cycle to remove contentions between uplink and downlink transmissions. PD-MAC also adopts an overhead mitigation scheme to reduce control overhead in user selection and employs an algorithm to balance uplink and downlink throughputs. An analytical model is developed to characterize the PD-MAC network throughput. Simulation results show that PD-MAC outperforms the previous unified MAC with regard to network throughput by 21.2%, and that the overhead mitigation scheme improves PD-MAC network throughput by 47.3%. © 1967-2012 ieee.

Contactless payment or 'Near Field Communication has become extremely popular worldwide and does not seem to be slowing down. Pakistan has taken action in implementing this technology across the various banking, stake holding and merchant based sectors, which will be provided to their relevant consumers. Developing countries have been frontrunners in the research and implementation of NFC technology. Pakistan has recognized the vitality of this system and is making strides in their own right. Significant factors as to the delayed approval and acceptance of this mobile system will be explored in this study. UTAUT2 (unified theory of acceptance and use of technology), a widely accepted model used in technology, forms the basis of the 'integrated framework' research proposal. Significant factors will be determined through the use of this framework. The conceptual model which has been proposed, can be further defined by 15 factors which includes;Performance expectancy, Effort expectancy, Social influence, Facilitating expectancy, Hedonic motivation, Habit, Behavioral intention, Trust, Privacy, Cost, Security, Self-efficiency, Compatibility, Complexity and. A 'mix mode' survey which comprises of quantitative and qualitative methodologies in the form of online surveys will be acquired from the mobile users. AMOS and SPSS software will be used to conduct the analysis. As a beneficial factor, which has been identified in the previous research, the acceptance of this technology by individuals in the bank sectors holds relevant importance. The country and its population will both benefit from the NFC technology. © 2018 ieee.
