Cervical cancer is known to be one of the deadly diseases in women. On the other hand, it is one of the most curable cancer if detected early. A well-known method in screening cervical cancer is by performing the Papanicoulaou test or Pap test. However, the screening process is laborious since it requires visual inspection of individual cells by experts. A large number of cases processed by a limited number of experts can lead to misclassification due to human errors. To solve this problem, using an automatic classification method may help improve the screening process. In this paper, we explore various support vector based classifiers, namely support vector machine (SVM), twin support vector machine (TWSVM), and twin-hypersphere support vector machine (THSVM), and test their performance on cervical cancer cell classification in 2-class and 4-class scenarios. The cervical cancer cell dataset named the LCH dataset used in this paper was collected and extracted from Lampang Cancer Hospital in Thailand. The experimental results show that TWSVM is preferable to SVM and THSVM in the cervical cancer cell classification.

The emerging gigabyte fast access to customer terminal (***) project has been initiated within ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) SG15 in February 2011. This new copper access technology is expected to provide aggregate (upstream and downstream) data rates up to 1 Gbps over distances up to 250m. This paper discusses the concept of *** channel modelling based on copper cable measurements. The cable insertion loss and far end crosstalk (FEXT) transfer function are measured from a 10-pair cable with 0.5mm wires gauge. The *** transceiver is simulated based on the ITU-T specifications. The attainable data rate performance is simulated for distances up to 250m. The bit rate performance are expected to decrease proportional to distance and number of crosstalk in the lines. As a conclusion, in order to ensure successful deployment of *** technology, it is essential for understanding the impact of FEXT noise towards data bit rate performance.

Differential evolution (DE), one of the evolutionary algorithms (EAs), is well-known for its quality solutions and speed convergence. Just like any EA, the execution of DE depends on the selection of its control parameters consisting of population size, crossover rate and scale factor. DE is operated by two different kinds of search mechanisms, i.e., exploration and exploitation. The selection of control parameters affects these search mechanisms, and thus, the performance of DE. Ranges on setting DE's control parameters are suggested in most studies but it still depends heavily on a user's knowledge and experiences, as well as the types of problems. The common approach adopted by users is the trial-and-error method but this approach consumes time. Since adaptation has been responsible for the search optimal solutions in DE, the adaptability should be further utilized to determine DE's optimal control parameters. Therefore, we proposed a self-adaptive DE which is able to self-determine its control parameters based on an ensemble. An ensemble is operated based on two different parameter selection schemes, i.e., BEST and MEAN. The performances of DEs based on the selection schemes in 20 benchmarks problems are compared based on best-fitness, mean-fitness, crossover rate and scale factor. The experimental results showed that the proposed self-adaptive DEs are able to perform adequately well in the benchmark problems. Besides that, the results have shown an interesting pattern between crossover rate and scale factor when the DE is given freedom to determine its control parameters.

This paper presents a two stage battery charger for plug-in electric vehicles (PEV) based on half-bridge LLC series resonant converter (SRC) operating at resonance frequency. The first stage is power factor correction (PFC) stage comprising of boost converter topology using hysteresis band control of inductor current. The PFC stage reduces the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the line current for achieving high power factor and regulates the voltage to follow the battery voltage at DC link capacitor. The input of the boost converter is a single phase 50 Hz, 220V AC from grid. At the second stage, a half-bridge LLC-SRC is used for constant-current, constant-voltage (CC-CV) based battery charging and for providing galvanic isolation. The resonant converter is designed to operate around resonance frequency to have maximum efficiency and low turn-off current of power switches to reduce switching losses. The circuit is simulated using MATLAB Simulink with 1.5 kW maximum output power. Simulation results show that the PFC stage achieves THD less than 0.07% and high power factor value as 0.9976. The DC/DC stage meets all the CC-CV charging requirements of the battery over wide voltage range 320V-420V for depleted to fully charged battery.

Spatial planning analysis towards conservation of Malay traditional house landscape characteristics is one of the important element in our country. It is because, this element is one of the uniqueness symbol that show the Malay culture in Malaysia and have a big potential for future development. So, to promote this symbol as a Malaysian identity, the government was spent and invested too much money to develop the best quality of services to fulfill tourists' need and demand. The purpose of this research is to describe the methods of measurement of the service quality model of Malay traditional house landscape characteristics. Generally, the service quality model can be measured by evaluating the gap between expectations and perceived values among the tourist's. There are many of variables may influence the service quality model. Identification of the relationship between tourists' expectation and satisfaction on services quality model is necessary for conservation of Malay traditional house landscape characteristics and also to measure for future tourism development. This research was suggest the modification of framework to measure the tourists' satisfaction on service quality model toward spatial planning analysis for conservation of Malay traditional house landscape characteristics.

In this paper, we proposed a novel method (CompUX LSA ) to predict user experience from reviews sentences using Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA). Human uses words to represent or express thoughts. The “word of mouth” could influence others especially through web and social media, which are the common communication tools today. We believe that reviews can be categorized according to user experiences since reviews are the thoughts and opinions from users after they have used certain products. In our works, we intend to mine and predict the user experience of expressed through reviews according to the five behavioral variables: Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Usefulness, Affects towards Technology, Social Influence and Trust. We apply the state of the art method: Latent Semantic Analysis to build a semantic space and map review sentences to the most similar variable measurement items that adapted from Human Behavior Project to predict their experiences. Besides that, we also proposed a rule based template, SubEx to extract features of subject-experience from reviews to enhance the performance. Based on the results obtained, CompUX LSA had achieved average F-measure of 0.24.

The phase compensation method was proposed based on the concept of the damping torque analysis (DTA). It is a method for the design of a PSS (power system stabilizer) to suppress local-mode power oscillations in a single-machine infinite-bus power system. This paper presents the application of the phase compensation method for the design of a PSS in a multi-machine power system. The application is achieved by examining the direct damping contribution of the stabilizer to the power oscillations. By using linearized equal area criterion, a theoretical proof to the application for the PSS design is presented. Hence PSS design in the paper is an example of stable tending control by localized method.

In this paper, a new impedance control method based on pressure distribution for wearable assist robot on multi-joint part is proposed. Generally, assist robots were designed based on assisting for a simple joint body part of the user such as elbow, knee, limb and so on. These robots can be similar structure to the assisted body part, and they can follow the user's movements. On the other hand, it is difficult that the robots have the similar structure to the multi-joint body part of the user such as shoulder, waist, back part and so on. Therefore, the robots assisting for multi-joint body part cannot follow the user's movements and it can cause unforeseen contact state between the user and the robots. There are conventional methods to follow the user's movements on a simple joint body part based on joint torque between the user and the robots, however, they have not been evaluated on the robots for multi-joint body parts. In addition, because torque is resultant force of physical contact force occurred between the user and robot, the direct contact state have not been considered. In this paper, a conventional method based on torque is implemented to the multi-joint robot for assisting back part of the body. Also, a new impedance control based on physical contact forces measured by pressure sensors is proposed. The conventional method and the proposed method are evaluated based on maximum value of contact forces on computer simulations.

Pulse electric field exposures on human cancer cells have shown an alternative towards drug free wound treatments. The earlier investigations have shown interesting findings on usage of this electrical means generated via high voltage pulse generator system. Therefore, the aim of the study is to investigate the effect of pulse electric field on the migration properties of colon cell line HT29 towards the enhancement of wound healing process. The HT29 cells were treated with an electric field of 600V/cm for 500us after a wound model was created in vitro with the aid of a sterile needle. A time-lapse live imaging of the migration properties of the HT29 cell was carried out using integrated devices for live cell imaging that was equipped with CCD camera, temperature and CO2 controllers and an inverted microscope. The result of cell migration properties showed that electroporation has an influence on migration speed of HT29 cell. The electroporated cells were found to close the wound completely in 105 minutes, at an average migration speed of 0.50 μm/min. Whereas the non-electroporated cells closed the wound in 240 minutes, at an average migration speed of 0.24 μm/min. Revealed by the live video microscopy, electroporation was also found to increase the proliferation rate of the HT29 cells. The cells in both treated and control collectively migrate in the direction of the wound closure. Thus, this can further be investigated for the use of pulse electric field in facilitating wound healing process.

Flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) controllers have been mainly used for solving various power system steady state control problems. Flexible AC transmission systems or FACTS are devices which allow the flexible and dynamic control of power systems. The FACTS controllers improve quality of the supply power, enhance power system performance and also provide an optimal utilization of the existing resources. Especially the TCSC has been proposed to enhance the power transfer capability by adjusting the reactance of the line. This paper, present a study of the western network Algerian 2012. In addition, we will try to ask the problems encountered in practice, to find solutions and moving towards the FACTS devices in particular the TCSC controller, its application and technical advantage. © 2015 ieee.
