"A Fuzzy Logic Energy Management system for Polygeneration Microgrids” by George Kyriakarakos, Anastasios I. Dounis, Konstantinos G. Arvanitis, and George Papadakis, in Renewable Energy, Volume 41, May 2012, pp. 315-327 This paper presents the design and testing of Fuzzy Logic Energy Management system (FLEMS) for an autonomous polygeneration microgrid in India. The components of the microgrid include a PV array, wind turbine, battery bank, a Proton Exchange Membrane fuel cell, an electrolyzer, a metal hydride tank, a reverse osmosis desalination unit using energy recovery and a controlsystem. The microgrid covers the electricity, transport and water needs of the remote area and thus its products are power, hydrogen as transportation fuel and potable water through desalination. A new approach based on fuzzy logic is designed and tested through simulation in MATLAB. The Fuzzy Logic approach can simplify the management and control of the microgrid, given its complexity. FLEMS operates in two levels and is implemented. The Top Level Fuzzy Logic system (TLFLS) and three subsystems are the FLEMS levels. In deep space exploration, unknown environment require the real-time controlling on an explorer, however the time delay of communication and signal blocking by stars make it impossible for the explorer to achieve real-time controlling. In order to solve the real-time attitude controlling problem for deep space explorers, the characteristics of complex system structure, coupling constraints, and parallel computing were considered. This paper used a method based on status and timeline to describe the deep space exploration domain knowledge, proposed a mission planning method based on multiple constraints satisfaction to realize the automatic generation of the on-board attitude maneuver missions. Including several kinds of geometrical constraints, dynamic constraints, and kinematic constraints, the constraints existing in the attitude maneuver process of an explorer has been considered and an attitude maneuver planning approach was used which guaranteed the safety of the explorer system in the maneuver. Mission consequences could be generated from the mission planning approach as the high level commands for the attitude controlling system on-board, which could guide the attitude controlling system to complete the attitude maneuver missions automatically and safely in the mission level.

The employment of a control and decision process supported by wireless sensor and actuator networks (WSANs) is a promising way to improve energy efficiency of Smart Buildings. We present and evaluate CONDE, a decentralized system for decision and control for Smart Building applications based on WSANs. Performed experiments shown that since data is processed within the network instead of transmitted to a central location, there is a gain in terms of the system response time and resource consumption. Therefore, CONDE improves the energy efficiency of both the monitored building and the WSAN infrastructure, when compared to centralized approaches. Moreover, it exploits integration of applications at the decision level to further improve the system efficiency.
