The purpose of this paper is to present the analysis of the dynamics immersion of an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle considering the time-delay produced by implementing artificial vision algorithm. The parameter tuning of the PD controller is based on the analysis of the stability region taking into account the vision delay. The PD controller goal is to keep the vehicle in a region close to the landmark, and the performance is shown in simulation and real-time experimental results.

People's life has been totally changed by the fast growth of the Internet, which provides opportunities to get access to huge amount of information resources, killer services and applications, offering users great convenience. However, various unwanted or unexpected contents could be distributed over the Internet, which greatly burden both users and internet service providers. People have conducted much research on unwanted traffic control via trust and reputation mechanisms, but literature still lacks a good evaluation platform that could simulate various kinds of attacks on the trust management systems and evaluate their performance. This paper reports the design and implementation of a MATLAB-based evaluation platform, which can simulate a network environment and evaluate trust management performance under various intrusion and attack models for unwanted traffic control. We investigate the effectiveness of the evaluation platform through case studies on two trust management systems: global trust management system and hybrid trust management system. Our evaluation results show the applicability of our platform.

The random time delay brings great challenges to the controller design for the Internet-based teleoperation system, the worst case is that it can destabilize the Internet-based teleoperation system. This paper first gives a brief historical preview of bilateral passive control theory, and then a direct passive scattering transform method, extending the passive bilateral control method to the Internet-based random time delay teleoperation system, is advanced to guarantee the teleoperation system's stability with any non-symmetric random network time delay. Finally, a virtual master-slave manipulator bilateral control scheme is designed for mobile robot teleoperation based on the passive scattering transformation method, and simulations are carried out to verify the results at the end of this paper.

When designing a distributed controlsystem consisting of heterogeneous components whose properties are usually not well known, it is difficult or even impossible to use an analytical approach to verify the fulfillment of all requirements. In this contribution, it is shown (at the example of different implementation scenarios for a typical control function) that detailed knowledge about the communication system is required to reliably assess and compare different designs of distributed systems with regard to a real-time characteristic. However, automation engineers typically can neither be expected to have such detailed knowledge about the internal details of computing and communication, nor do they have the time to study different design alternatives in detail. It is well known that the performance of real-time control applications can be affected by many factors, including the choice (and configuration) of the hardware platform and task scheduling algorithm. This paper presents a real-time hardware-in-the-loop simulation tool that simultaneously integrates concepts from control and real-time computing to allow further investigation into these links. It allows the experimental prototyping and analysis of real-time controlsystems on real hardware - but within a simulated plant environment and thus allows the potential impacts of hardware and software architecture on control performance and dependability to be evaluated. The structure of the proposed tool is described, along with a preliminary experiment that has been performed to illustrate some of the test facility capabilities.

Server farms are playing an important role in large-scale computing infrastructure today. However, the increasing energy consumption of server farms makes them expensive to operate. There are many technologies aiming at reducing the power consumption of server farms, for example, dynamic server speed scaling is an effective way to make the energy consumption proportional to the work load. But most of them have negative effect on system reliability due to increased transient failure rates. The repeated transition cycles increase the wear-and-tear of server components. In this paper, we control the process of speed scaling of a single server based on the dynamic workload using Markov Decision Process (MDP), and propose two reliability-aware algorithms for energy-efficient dynamic server speed control. Furthermore, we extend the model to multi-servers, it could provide speed control policies with performance, reliability and energy consumption concern. We evaluate the proposed models and policies via numerical experiments, which could show the effectiveness of our algorithms.
