This paper investigates second-order leaderless and leader-following consensus in multi-agent systems with dynamic network topologies, where the communication weights are determined by the inter-agent distances. With the proposed leaderless consensus protocol, the states of all agents are ensured to agree on the state of the mass center of the system. By the leader-following consensus algorithm based on pinning control, all agents are guaranteed to asymptotically follow the virtual leader. Numerical results are given to verify the theoretical analysis.

This paper deals with PID control tuning for a non-linear multi-input multi-output system (MIMO). In this paper, a laboratory helicopter model called the twin rotor MIMO system (TRMS) is considered as a MIMO system. The mathematical modeling of helicopter model is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink for controlling it. The two degrees of freedom (2-DOF) are controlled both in horizontal and vertical direction using proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller. Simulation results are obtained for different input signals. Moreover the error of the plant output and control output of PID controller are presented which show the performance evaluation of TRMS.

The paper presents an indirect adaptive fuzzy-neural control scheme for an n-link robot manipulator. In the proposed scheme a fuzzy-neural controller is constructed based on the fuzzy neural networks for approximating the unknown nonlinearities of dynamic systems, and also a sliding mode controller is incorporated to compensate for the modelling errors of fuzzy neural networks. The parameters of the fuzzy neural network approximators are modified using the recently proposed fuzzy-neural algorithm named Online Sequential Fuzzy Extreme Learning Machine (OS-Fuzzy-ELM), where the parameters of the membership functions characterizing the linguistic terms in the if-then rules are assigned by random values independent from the training data. Different from the original OS-Fuzzy-ELM algorithm, the consequent parameters of if-then rules are updated based on the Lyapunov synthesis approach to guarantee the stability of the overall controlsystem. Finally the proposed adaptive fuzzy-neural controller is applied to control a two-link robot manipulator and the simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

In this paper, we address the problem of optimal control in a service-oriented manufacturing (SOM) system. The optimal dynamic admission control of the product orders and the optimal dynamic production control of products are examined simultaneously. We formulate the integrated optimal control problem as a continuous Markov decision process. and characterize the integrated optimal dynamic control by two monotonic switching curves. The optimal control policy highlights the coordination between the controls of manufacturing subsystem and service subsystem in the SOM system. We also illustrate the impacts of the revenues of both product orders and PSS orders on the optimal policy numerically.

Recently, mobile devices are demanding more performance in computing power, network, and storage. Among these components, storage is one of the most important components which directly influence end-user experience. The poor random write performance is particularly painful to mobile devices, but this situation is expected to continue due to limited cost and power budget in embedded flash-based storage. This paper proposes a novel software layer called Advil to relieve the random write performance of mobile devices. Advil filters out small random writes and logs them sequentially into a small buffer space (called reserved area), in a transparent way to file systems and flash-based storage devices. To take advantage of the fact that the data invalidated in the reserved area does not have to be synchronized to the original location, Advil identifies hot data and keeps them in the reserved area. The amount of hot data is dynamically adjusted according to the change in the workload characteristics. In addition, Advil selectively performs page padding and block padding when the data is moved to the original location to increase the efficiency in the underlying flash-based storage. Our evaluation results show that Advil improves the storage write performance of realistic smartphone workloads up to three times.
