Since its introduction in 2012, telecommunications operators have been applying the Network Function Virtualization principle to their core infrastructure, leading to more agile and cost-efficient deployments. While these Virtualized Network Functions (VNFs) are traditionally implemented using Virtual Machines (VMs), efforts are starting to shift to containerized VNF implementations, further improving agility and cost-efficiency. Furthermore, telecom applications often require extreme networking performance in terms of throughput and latency. While research has shown that containers outperform VMs on this front, it is currently unclear how the choice of container provider influences network performance. In this paper we compare the networking performance of Linux container implementations Docker, rkt and LXC. Throughput and latency are evaluated for single-host host, bridge (or NAT) and macvlan network configurations. This is, to the best of our knowledge, the first comparison featuring all three major Linux container implementations. We show that LXC performs best, with Docker and rkt showing throughputs of respectively up to 35 % and 58 % lower. Of the considered networking implementations, the macvlan network performs best. While it experiences a significant performance degradation when many containers are chained together, a single container using macvlan can outperform even a bare metal implementation when enough CPU resources are available.

Aiming at the flexibility, mobility, scalability and other problems in current existing network architectures, this paper proposes a Reconfigurable service-Centric Network(Re-SCNet) architecture to meet the needs of mass diverse customer service of the future network. Network function combination is one of the main directions to enhance the adaptability of the Internet. Re-SCNet mainly concentrates on the following three points: firstly, decomposes the network layer and transport layer into the atomic capacities which is fine-grained building blocks;Secondly, builds combination chains by combining atomic capacities dynamically inside the node in an optimal way, then forms reliable AS which can be identified and invoked by network business. Finally, a nonlinear integer optimal problem is formulated for the composition of atomic capacities driven by users' requests, and the dynamic programming(DP) algorithm is proposed to reach an appropriate balance between computation costs and optimal solutions. We implement the prototype system based on innovation experiment platform NetFPGA-lOG of reconfigurable network and verify the feasibility of Re-SCNet, simulation results show that DP has a better performance in time consuming, the number of iterations, and the utility value.

This paper offers some reflections on key concepts to be considered when developing policies related to assistive technology provision in the light of the UN Convention. The starting point is the Position Paper issued by AAATE and EASTIN in 2012, which defines the mission of a service delivery system (SDS) as "ensuring that all people with disabilities can access appropriate assistive solutions that are able to support autonomy in their life environment". From the organizational viewpoint, we can identify three main SDS models: the "medical model", the "social model" and the "consumer model". A reasonable criterion for establishing a boundary between products that require medical models and those that don't is that of clinical risk. The more the system moves from a medical to a social or consumer model, the more should it be based on user empowerment approaches. The GATE initiative of the World Health Organization and some national policies (such as the Australian NDIS assistive technology strategy) are firmly built upon user empowerment approaches. End-users education as well as the availability of "super partes" assistive technology information (i.e. independent of commercial interest) also plays a fundamental role in user empowerment. The paper offers a quick survey of the main information systems available today worldwide, and presents the latest achievement of today's major information resource, the European Assistive Technology Information Network.

To address these challenges, SDN centralized control and the NFV concept of CT reconstruction with IT virtualization technology are used to enable a reform in the mobile core network and the Gi-LAN service field. In this paper, following the technical trend of 5G, we propose the Cloud-ICT Convergence service Architecture to construct an open and elastic digital information ecosystem. This architecture is a solution that provides flexibility in managing infrastructure and uses virtualization to dynamically orchestrate service chains on demand. The information ecosystem constructed in this architecture can provide the functional convergence of IT&CT services in addition to the traditional cellular network functions.

In 2012 the Bavarian Archive for Speech Signals started providing some of its tools from the field of spoken language in the form of Software as a service (SaaS). This means users access the processing functionality over a web browser and therefore do not have to install complex software packages on a local computer. Amongst others, these tools include segmentation & labeling, grapheme-to-phoneme conversion, text alignment, syllabification and metadata generation, where all but the last are available for a variety of languages. Since its creation the number of available services and the web interface have changed considerably. We give an overview and a detailed description of the system architecture, the available web services and their functionality. Furthermore, we show how the number of files processed over the system developed in the last four years.

In this paper, high reliability radiation hardened On-Board computersystem using reconfigurable FPGA is investigated for space application. To avoid the influence of single event effects caused by an energetic particle in space, a new design scheme of high reliability OBC system is proposed using two FPGA chips and four DSP chips. The overall structure is based on redundant and reconfigurable technologies. The system adopts a 'parallel + backup' structure, the system control unit realized on two FPGA working in dual CPU cold-redundancy mode. The DSP system containing three DSP chips is designed based on triple modular redundancy theory, the rest DSP serves as a backup DSP. Then, complete and reliable faults tolerant methods and reinforcement strategies are realized through software. The proposed design scheme can greatly improve the reliability of OBC system based on in-depth analysis, and has great potential for space applications.

The human following behavior design for service robots is considered in this paper, with applications to human-robot interaction and human companion in indoors environments. In this work, we present the necessary of future motion expectation and natural interaction for human following model. The key advances in this paper are: an intelligent following system based on user comfortable feeling and put forward the comprehensive performance evaluation index of following system. As a result, the evaluation shows that the proposed model considering human comfort performs better than a traditional model that only maintain a constant distance with the human.
