In the paper, generalized predictive controllers are designed for wheeled mobile robot(WMR) differentially driven control system. Based on multiplexed control method, the strong coupling multi-input multi-output control system is divided into two single input single output subsystems. We design controllers for every subsystem and coupling effects act as disturbance. Simulation results are given to illustrate the feasibility of the proposed control method.

Microblog is a browser-based platform for web user's information sharing and communication. With the rapidly increasing of microblog population, its effective recommendation function becomes necessary. This paper proposes the recommendation by the Latent Dirichlet Allocation topic model, which combines the user interest to meet their needs. It also conducts a comparative analysis between indirect and direct recommendation algorithms. The experimental results show that the indirect recommendation is more effective for the micro-blog recommendation.

The High Energy Stereoscopic system (H.E.S.S.) is an array of imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes (IACTs) located in the Khomas Highland in Namibia. It consists of four 12-m telescopes (CT1-4), which started operations in 2003, and a 28-m diameter one (CT5), which was brought online in 2012. It is the only IACT system featuring telescopes of different sizes, which provides sensitivity for gamma rays across a very wide energy range, from ∼30GeV up to ∼100TeV. Since the camera electronics of CT1-4 are much older than the one of CT5, an upgrade is being carried out;first deployment was in 2015, full operation is planned for 2016. The goals of this upgrade are threefold: reducing the dead time of the cameras, improving the overall performance of the array and reducing the system failure rate related to aging. Upon completion, the upgrade will assure the continuous operation of H.E.S.S. at its full sensitivity until and possibly beyond the advent of CTA. In the design of the new components, several CTA concepts and technologies were used and are thus being evaluated in the field: The upgraded read-out electronics is based on the NECTAR readout chips;the new camera front- and back-end control subsystems are based on an FPGA and an embedded ARM computer;the communication between subsystems is based on standard Ethernet technologies. These hardware solutions offer good performance, robustness and flexibility. The design of the new cameras is reported here.

Mineral resources lay solid foundation for human survival and development but long overexploitation of mineral resources has humans in danger of resources exhaustion in the future. Possible ways to ease the future crisis are proposed: market regulation and effective governmental supervision. This paper, based on optimal exhaustion theory, proposes a mineral resources exhaustion warning system built on geographical information system which takes mine exploitation rate as the decision-making target, collects data related to making decisions through collection layer, analyzes the demand and supply through regression model and gray forecast model on prediction layer, calculates the optimized exhaustion rate through maximized social welfare inter-period distribution model on decision layer and finally presents the difference between theoretical results and reality in GIS so as to monitor mineral exploitation in the mines. This system provides practical guidance to the sustainable development of mineral resources.

Question answering systems are pretty much different from web based search engines which works on the principal of Information Retrieval (IR), however QA systems works on the concept of Information Retrieval (IR) as well as Information Extraction (IE). Web based search engines takes user's query in natural language and responds the same with references and URLs of related documents and websites, but they failed when a user wants precise answer for their query. By considering these limitations of search engines people finds that there is a need for such a system which answer the user's query rather responds with references or URLs of related documents. User should be provided with the precise answer to their question. They are one st

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) is a trending phenomenon in online education. Number of participants in a MOOC and the number of MOOCs by platforms and courses are appearing to be increasing at a tremendous level. Although MOOC found to be the “buzz” word, latest reports claim that the hype of the MOOC is fading. One reason to this is because many MOOCs offered and created despite of evaluating the effectiveness of it. Therefore the qualities of MOOCs are under criticism. It is essential to seek possible solutions to balance the learner goal while offering a quality service. Working towards the direction, this literature review focuses on past researches carried out in identifying the success factors, best practices, and effectiveness of a MOOC. We focused literature published between 2012 and 2015 and found significantly less number of empirical evidence in discovering MOOC quality factors. Out of 4745 peer reviewed publications which met with the search terms, only 26 literatures found to produce highly relevant in deciding a quality of a MOOC. Out the 26 literatures, only 3 provided a quality dimensions with empirical evidence and 7 provided with proposal frameworks based on past literature. We discuss the concerns arising from the review and identify issues including lack of evidence in identifying the critical success factors, absence of social interactions, networking, anthropological and ethnographic view in determining a quality MOOC.

Rapid disaster relief is important to save human lives and reduce property loss. With the wide use of smartphones and their ubiquitous easy access to the Internet, sharing and uploading images to the cloud via smartphones offer a nontrivial opportunity to provide information of disaster zones. However, due to limited available bandwidth and energy, smartphone-based crowdsourcing fails to support the real-time data analytics. The key to efficiently and timely share and analyze the images is to determine the value/worth of the images based on their significance and redundancy, and only upload those valuable and unique images. In this paper, we propose a near-realtime and cost-efficient scheme, called SmartEye, in the cloud-assisted disaster environment. The idea behind SmartEye is to implement QoS-aware in-network deduplication over DiffServ in the software-defined networks (SDN). Due to the ease of use, simplicity and scalability, DiffServ supports the in-network deduplication to meet the needs of differentiated QoS. SmartEye aggregates the flows with similar features via a semantic hashing, and provides communication services for the aggregated, not a single, flow. To achieve these goals, we leverage two main optimization schemes, including semantic hashing and space-efficient filters. Efficient image sharing is helpful to disaster detection and scene recognition. To demonstrate the feasibility of SmartEye, we conduct two real-world case studies in which the loss in Typhoon Haiyan (2013) and Hurricane Sandy (2012) can be identified in a timely fashion by analyzing massive data consisting of more than 22 million images using our SmartEye system. Extensive experimental results illustrate that SmartEye is efficient and effective to achieve real-time analytics in disasters.

In order to detect security problems in android activity components, we designed one detection method based on fuzzing and dynamic hooking technology, and developed our detection tool called Activity Fuzzer. Activity Fuzzer constructs Intent objects by parsing android APK file, then sends them to activity components. At the same time, Activity Fuzzer monitors the android system logs to find if security vulnerabilities occur, such as permission leaks and runtime crashes. Besides, we designed a feedback mechanism to reduce false negatives. We use Activity Fuzzer to detect 100 android applications, and find 60% applications existing security problems. During the experiment, we find mobile QQ leaks ACCESSETWORKTATE permission, causing that other applications can access the OAuth service without any permission. And we find a serious Do S vulnerability of wechat.
