In view of the nonlinearity and coupling in the coordinated control system(CCS) of thermal power plants, the paper introduces a Takagi-Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy model based generalized predictive control(GPC) of CCS. First, a T-S fuzzy model with three chosen typical operating point is employed to approximate the nonlinearity of the CCS of the thermal power plant. Then, based on the obtained T-S fuzzy model, a GPC controller is developed to achieve a desired performance. Finally, a living example of a 330MW thermal power unit is used to demonstrate GPC controller.

Networks are prone to intrusions and detecting intruders on the Internet, is a major problem. Many Intrusion Detection systems have been proposed to detect these intrusions. However, as the Internet grows day by day, there is a huge amount of data (big data) that needs to be processed to detect intruders. For this reason, intrusion detection has to be done in real-time before intruders can inflict damage, and previous detection systems do not satisfy this need for big data. Using Apache Storm, a Real time Hybrid Intrusion Detection system has been developed in our work. Apache Storm serves as a distributed, fault tolerant, real time big data stream processor. The hybrid detection system consists of two neural networks. The CC4 instantaneous neural network acts as an anomaly-based detection for unknown attacks and the Multi Layer Perceptron neural network acts as a misuse-based detection for known attacks. Based on the outputs from these two neural networks, the incoming data will be classified as "attack" or "normal." We found the average accuracy of hybrid detection system is 89% with a 4.32% false positive rate. This model is appropriate for real time detection since Apache Storm acts as a real time streaming processor, which can also handle big data.

This paper introduces a decentralized coordinated fuzzy stabilization control of power system. First, the Takagi and Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy model is employed to approximate system-wide nonlinear model of power system. Next, based on the fuzzy model, a fuzzy controller with decentralized constrain is developed to achieve the suboptimal control. A robust stabilization technique is also proposed to override the oscillations. Finally, the suboptimal control is parameterized in terms of three eigenvalue problems(EVP’s), which can be solved conveniently by using linear matrix inequality(LMI) optimization techniques. A simulation example is used to illustrate the contributions of the proposed method. The results demonstrate that the proposed method gives a desired performance.

Formalized and standardized architecture descriptions are very important for the design and understanding of architecture. However, nowadays software architectures are mainly described by non-formal diagrams and text, semantics is not clear, and it is difficult to develop the appropriate supported tools. To this end, a method based on Petri net is proposed to describe software architecture. First, rules of architecture description based on Petri net are defined, and then architecture of a simple system is described by those rules. Finally, the model was verified. Experimental results show that this method can formally describes software architecture graphically, and can verify the architecture automatically.

The major concern in a biometric identification system is its accuracy. In spite of the improvements in image acquisition and image processing techniques, the amount of research still being carried out in person verification and identification shows that a recognition system which gives zero FAR and FRR is still not a reality. Fusion of multiple instances within a modality for biometric verification performance improvement has received considerable attention. This paper presents an efficient method for improved accuracy in iris recognition system based on multi instance fusion, which combines the left and right iris of an individual at the feature level. When fusing, a novel fusion strategy using parallel feature fusion is applied to generate a fused feature used to match the stored template. The experimental results show that the proposed method can bring obvious performance improvement compared to the single instance method.
