Forecasting techniques are crucial for any industry or field that benefits from anticipating future events or trends, allowing for better planning, resource allocation, and decision-making. Modern agriculture necessitates efficient land use and the reconversion of wastelands to productive terrains. This study seeks to harness forecasting techniques tailored for time series data to detect potential wastelands ripe for conversion into Greenlands, aiming to boost agricultural yield. The time series analysis of ndVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) assesses vegetation cover changes over time, identifies trends and patterns, and maps the areas with potential restoration. The time series data is processed and analysed using advanced techniques such as season decomposition and statistical modelling to identify the significant changes in vegetation behaviour, specifically focusing on incorporating the FBprophet model to elucidate the temporal patterns and underlying factors influencing vegetation dynamics. In this study, the model is employed on 9 years (2013–2022) data of a village in Katoria Bihar (India) that was restored from a wasteland into Greenland. The study’s finding showcases the FBprophet model’s effectiveness in analysing ndVI time series data and understanding vegetation dynamics. By providing more accurate trend decomposition and robust forecasting capabilities, the FBprophet model offers a sustainable approach to land utilisation, benefitting both local communities and the broader environment. © 2025 The Author(s).

The European AI Act is a new, legally binding instrument that will enforce certain requirements on the development and use of AI technology potentially affecting people in Europe. The 113 articles, 180 recitals, and 13 annexes that make up the Act cover 144 pages. The demand for transparency aims for greater clarity, especially in complex regulatory and technical environments. However, it often remains unclear exactly what certain transparency requirements actually demand from whom and how. Our goal is to reduce these uncertainties. To this end, we are developing a comprehensive scheme that facilitates a structured review of transparency requirements and systematically supports the planning and implementation of transparent processes In developing this scheme, we draw on approaches from the research literature that define transparency and specify requirements, as well as on the analysis and interpretation of legal provisions that mandate transparency. This scheme enables us to effectively structure and clarify legal transparency requirements. Furthermore, using an exemplary process, we sketch how transparency can be effectively implemented using our scheme. Thus, the scheme contributes to improved clarity and a deeper understanding of transparency requirements, which is crucial for regulatory compliance and simultaneously strengthens stakeholder trust. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Facial expressions are an exciting study area within computer apparition, affecting estimating, and human-calculating interaction. Our approach offers a distinct end-to- end network for attention-based self-governing face emotion recognition. The new network design’s four components are modules for feature extraction, attentiveness, and categorization and reconstruction. Through the extraction of textural information from the image and the detection of minute changes in facial expressions, Network performance can be enhanced by the properties of the Local Binary Pattern. Through a mechanism for attention, the neural network may be trained to rank critical components first. The neural network may be trained to prioritize important elements using an attention mechanism. CNNs in feature extraction and pattern recognition, we aim to classify facial emotions such as joy, sorrow, rage, shock, fear, and contempt in situations that happen in real-time—expression datasets, such as FER2013 and CK+. The experimental findings confirm the feasibility and efficacy of the recommended strategy.

The aim of this paper, is to study the identifiability property, of Port-Controlled Hamiltonian systems. A simple identifiability condition, is derived by transforming the port-Hamiltonian systems to the observable canonical form. Indeed, the observable canonical form, gives the possibility to represent the transfer function in a simplified form, similar to ARMAX models, used in identification. In order to test the identifiability of Port-Controlled Hamiltonian systems, a test was realized in the case of a LC circuit. © 2013 IEEE.

In this paper, we present a text segmentation system based on the sentiments expressed in the text. The system takes as input plain text (product review for instance) and uses two different resources for tagging the sentiment words: a sentiment words dictionary and SentiWordNet. Once the sentiment words are identified, the initial text is annotated with segmentation markers when polarity shifts. The system also outputs the counts of positive and negative sentiment words found in text and optionally annotates them with their valence. © 2013 IEEE.
