Android is a standard and popular platform of various smart phone. Security thread is a major problem to smart phone. File system event monitoring is essential for many types of programs ranging from file managers to security tools. In this paper, we make research on file system event monitoring. Our approach involves file nodes monitor by Android API and Linux native system call. We compare different features between them. It shows that each method has its benefit and limitation. Linux system calls method outperforms API in flexibility and scalability. But it has its un-convenience to user for its page alignment. A comprehensive method is proposed to take advantage of significant performance gains.

The increasing density of NAND flash memory leads to a dramatic increase in the bit error rate of flash, which greatly reduces the ability of error correcting codes (ECC) to handle multibit errors. NAND flash memory is normally used to store the file system metadata and page mapping information. Thus, a broken physical page containing metadata may cause an unintended and severe change in functionality of the entire flash. This paper presents Meta-Cure, a novel hardware and file system interface that transparently protects metadata in the presence of multibit faults. Meta-Cure exploits built-in ECC and replication in order to protect pages containing critical data, such as file system metadata. Redundant pairs are formed at run time and distributed to different physical pages to protect against failures. Meta-Cure requires no changes to the file system, on-chip hierarchy, or hardware implementation of flash memory chip. We evaluate Meta-Cure under a real-embedded platform using a variety of I/O traces. The evaluation platform adopts dual ARM Cortex A9 processor cores with 64 Gb NAND flash memory. We have evaluated the effectiveness of Meta-Cure on the new technology file system file system. Experimental results show that the proposed technique can reduce uncorrectable page errors by 70.38% with less than 7.86% time overhead in comparison with conventional error correction techniques.

Flexible, extensible and lightweight architectures are necessary to allow the participation of small energy producers in the smart grid. In addition to an intelligent energy management system on top of a home automation system these nodes exchange information with other smart grid nodes to enable services like energy trading or demand side management as well as to establish a stable and scalable smart grid. In order to support future developments in the areas of sensing and metering devices, actuators, production and storage technologies and communication protocols a flexible and extensible design is essential. Besides the mentioned areas the proposed architecture supports a distributed deployment on small and energy-saving computing devices to decrease visibility and energy consumption as much as possible. In the further implementation of the layered approach we distinguish between the core system and functional components. Connected via an enterprise message bus the functional can be implemented using different programming languages and deployed on various networked devices following the SOA principles. The core system includes authentication, configuration, persistent storage and a plug and play registration of functional components. In this paper, the design and functionality of our layered and component based architecture is presented.

The E and B Experiment (EBEX) is a balloon-borne telescope designed to probe polarization signals in the cosmic microwave background. It completed an 11 day flight over Antarctica in December 2012/January 2013. EBEX requires 10 arcsecond accuracy on attitude determination for post-flight data analysis, and 30 arcminute accuracy for real-time attitude control during flight. The primary pointing sensors employed to achieve these pointing requirements are two redundant star cameras and two redundant sets of orthogonal gyroscopes. This paper is focused on the star cameras. The EBEX star cameras must be robust against multiple classes of challenges that may arise in the long duration balloon-borne environment. These challenges include daytime sky brightness, bright polar mesospheric clouds, uncataloged satellites, thermal effects on the camera focus, and the potential for abnormal inputs from other on-board subsystems. Real-time monitoring and manual intervention by the user is limited by the low communication bandwidth on long duration flights. Each star camera consists of a pressurized vessel containing a digital camera, an embedded computer, a hard disk, and various supporting electronics, along with an optical baffle to limit reflections and reduce atmospheric noise. We developed a dependable, thread-safe, C++ software application that can tackle potential issues with the images and defend against failures in other subsystems. It employs a wide selection of features with robust and efficient algorithms to best prepare for the long duration environment, and was developed with a focus on reliability. The features range from relatively novel to well-established, and many of them ultimately proved critical in the recent EBEX flight. We will report on the design, implementation, testing, and successful in-flight performance under challenging conditions of the EBEX star cameras and their associated custom-written software.

This contribution describes a free computer-aided control system design (cacsd) tool for the numerical computing environment GNU Octave which is mostly compatible with Matlab. The software is ready for both industrial and academic use and serves as a foundation for people who are interested in the development of cacsd tools. The tool's features being presented in this article are system identification, system analysis and controller synthesis with a special focus on H∞ methods. Furthermore, advanced frequency-weighted model and controller reduction capabilities are demonstrated which are beyond the scope of MATLAB. © 2013 ieee.

Nowadays manipulators are getting more complex due to the development of the motor drives and the nonlinearities of the manipulator dynamics. Due to complexity of this system, the modeling process will become more complicated especially if modeled by using mathematical representation or white box approach. Therefore Computed aided design (CAD) modeling approach is more suitable to be applied in this system. In this paper presents the development of the CAD model of robot arm by using SolidWorks software. Then a controller based on Proportional -integral -derivative (PID) has been designed in simulation environment by using Matlab/Simulink platform. This paper shows the advantages of the combination of MATLAB and SolidWorks. SolidWorks is able to ease the modeling process. The performance of PID controller for 4 Degree of Freedom (DOF) of SCARA (Selective Compliance Articulated Robot Arm) manipulator has been assessed for first 2 DOF and shown good results. Survey operation to collect information about environmental parameters is an inevitable part in various cases. But manual data logging by human is dangerous in perilous places. This paper deals with design and implementation of a RF controlled Robotic Environmental Survey Assistant system for remote survey operations, which can assist in remote data acquisition of environmental parameters like temperature, humidity and the presence and level of LPG gas in the air. Technically, two individual units make up the complete survey assistant system. First one is the wireless control unit for controlling and monitoring the survey process, whereas the second one is a remote controlled data collector robot unit which executes the survey process. The survey robot is equipped with sensor units required for measurement of temperature, humidity and combustible gas level as environmental parameters of the survey zone, ultrasonic sensor for obstacle detection in the path of the robot and GPS receiver for collecting information about position of the robot. A Radio Frequency (RF) Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) transceiver channel enables the communication between the robot and control panel. The robot can be operated in two different modes. In autonomous mode, the robot travels a random path depending on obstacle avoidance technique and stores or collects and broadcasts live data stream to the control panel. Each time the robot is set to autonomous mode, after completion of a limited time survey operation, the robot comes back to it's starting position where autonomous mode was started. Obstacle sensor units installed in the robot helps it to detect and avoid obstacles in its path. The real-time data visualization is achieved on a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) in the control panel and the mode of operation can be select from the control panel by operator. © 2014 ieee.

This paper presents a storage system design based on energy harvesting to achieve battery-less for Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) application. The storage system is part of the Wireless Sensor Energy Harvesting to store and amplify the energy harvested from the surroundings. The proposed method must be consumes very little power and suitable for ambient environmental sources such as vibration, wind and RF energy and be able to boost up the energy for storage system. The output of the harvested voltage is insufficient for most applications, therefore the system will boost up the input voltage level using DC to DC converter topology to higher dc voltage. The DC to DC converter shall be designed to suit the types of storage required. The output voltage of this DC converter should be sufficient to charge either capacitor or supercapacitor that will be use in this system as the energy storage system. The supercapacitor will provide power to energize any system such as in this case wireless sensor network [1]. In the case of wireless sensor network for example, the node would require the energy during transmitting and receiving data only whereas during standby mode or sleep mode, the amount of energy required would be very small [2]. Therefore the storage system will make use of this standby time or sleep mode of the sensor node to store as much energy as possible. The presented DC to DC converter in this paper has high efficiency upto 85.4% with input voltage between range 300mV to 600mV.
